What a lovely little owl. You got some fabulous shots Gary. We don't get barn owls in my area but this winter was fortunate to get some images of 3 short eared owls, saw a long eared owl and more recently a northern screech owl. So amazing to see them in the wild and be able to get images of them.
Lovely shots of the Goldfinch then Reed Bunting around 6:00. You are spot on with that quote - 'What a privilege'. I have seen a Barn Owl once and it was magical but although I have only one reasonable picture it does not diminish the experience of seeing a ghost. Brilliant pictures at the end there. One point to make is that I can find lots of stunning images of Barn Owls on the net but none of them affect me like that one picture I got of my Barn Owl. Aren't birds wonderful?
Gary you missed the little owls that live in that same field next to the barn . If you go again , take a look around the log pile. Brilliant shots of the barn owl - haven’t been lucky to see and capture myself - but then I don’t like being up at 4 in the morning 😂😂

Wonderful images Gary, can you tell me what time of day was your first Owl shot and your last Owl shot... To get a shot of a Barn Owl is number one on my bucket list.
Hi Paul, my first image was around 6am and the last was around 8:30am, although I was speaking to a regular there and he said that in the summer the owl will hunt as late as 9:30am 🙂
Nice! I saw some of your Barn Owl images on Flickr, it's good to see a behind the scenes video that goes with them. My local parliament is Barred Owls, a bit faster on the wing and partial to woodland so to date my owl shots are all of sitting birds.
@@GaryNormanPhoto Well I think its going to be a while the're sooo expensive. I've had the Sony 24-105 since it was launched, so that must be 3 years or so now which I really like, but really fancy the Sony 100-400 which will compliment it nicely ( one day😂)
@@mikegosheron1679 my original plan was to pair the 24-105 with a 100-400, but alas that never quite happened. I love my 150-600, but a smaller 100-400 would be great for landscapes.

Loved this episode Gary! You've really made me want to go for a quiet sunrise wander at one of our local conservation areas. Lately I've been ignoring my camera and have been concentrating on my bike. However, with the addition to the family of a new puppy (which you may have seen, as I've been oversharing photos 😜), I've been relearning all of the buttons and functions of my camera and am finally feeling the urge to get back out there and see what I've been missing. Hope you and the crew have a great trip to Scotland.
