My hubby and I wanted a Dog we are moving to the country.
After research I got put off.
I use to have a Doberman I adored her.
I love Vislas I think I could endure the greif for a balanced Dog eventually.
Thankyou we are really enjoying the videos.
Crates are great as they are "den animals", the crying is separation anxiety. They are very use to having siblings and it is hard for them to get use to being by themselves. The Vizslas are a very social dog and require a lot of contact. They love attention and don't deal with separation very well, even into adult hood. I have owned Vizslas for 34 years and all the dogs I have had are very consistent in temperament and behaviors. They are the most incredible breed. They often appear to new Vizsla owners, to be more occupying than expected. They require a lot of attention but you will have your life changed for the better after adjusting to the "Vizsla world", I promise. They are very strong willed and once they understand that they are not the "alpha" of the pack, you will have a much more enjoyable time, both day and night ! Love the videos and you sharing with us all....thank you !! Brings back all the puppy years for us !
Thank you for your great comments, it’s very reassuring to hear that! When we researched getting a Vizsla the term ‘Velcro dog’ came up many times! I just didn’t expect him to need so much attention! 😊
I’ve really been enjoying all your wonderful videos, thanks for sharing them. We have an 11 year old Vizsla and I see so many similarities with Cannon - she loves her blanket when she sleeps, carrots and she has a lot of similar mannerisms. In her older age she stills gets mistaken for a young dog and she’s still a Velcro doggy - she has a chair or dog bed in every part of the house I work from and she follows me as I move so she can always be sitting next to me. I never imagined I could come to love a dog so much, they’re truly a special breed sent from heaven. Best of luck with your lovely boy.

Are Viszla calm dogs when they are adults ?
Loving the Videos! whole family is watching them in anticipation of our Vizsla arriving in Feb, although what was just excitement is now a mixture of excitement with a bit of "OMG what have we let ourselves in for!!!" :-) its been a long while since our last puppy
I’m glad you are all enjoying the videos! I have to say I was quite shocked at how hard it is!! I know it will be worth all the hard work in the end though. I’m sure your Vizsla will be much calmer than Lord Cannon, fingers crossed anyway! 😂🐾
I had 3 dogs in my life. I thought I knew everything about dogs. Until I took home the vizsla puppy) he made everything upside down in my world))

Also remember this breed is a hunting dog. They love to hunt, smell to track and will point instinctively at almost anything. They love to explore and are very curious. We have 2.5 acres fully fenced including 1 acre of natural woods and brush and our "Holly" explores and patrols every square inch !
Wow that’s a lot of space! Your right, it’s important to remember they are hunting dogs. I am going to take him to as many place as possible for him to explore to keep him busy!
We get our puppy next month and our family has enjoyed watching your videos. It’s been a great eye opener for what we have to look forward too. Your puppy is adorable, love watching him grow.

would you agree the walks helped the most? Sounds like he has so much energy and the added walks helped release it so you could enjoy him more. Otherwise he released it at home in counterproductive ways.
The walks have definitely helped the most, not only is he burning off his energy when he is out but he is sleeping much more in the day so when he is awake he is much calmer. 😊🐾

Honestly I thought it would never get better but it has got so much easier this week. 😊🐾
We have a 9 month old Vizsla girl from a very high work drive line. (We didn't know this when we got her.) We've found our way into K9 Nose Work, which has been a miracle at keeping her more calm in the house. She refuses to walk in the rain so it has been great for getting her exercise on rainy days. We hide bits of treats in cardboard boxes and all around the house and she has to use her nose to find them. So she follows the odor and sometimes has to work out a bit of a puzzle to find where that piece actually is. It wears her out so much better than a walk! Perhaps there are dog trainers in your area that do this type of class? You're not alone! My husband and I felt the exact same way as you two when we first got our vizsla! You're doing great!
Thanks very much for your comments. That’s really helpful to know, I will definitely research K9 Nose Work. I will start hiding treats around the house for him too. We are at bit stuck here at the moment as we are in a full lockdown so no puppy classes are running which is a shame. 😊
@@LordCannonTheVizsla I'm so sorry to hear about your lockdown! When we first started nose work, we just placed bits of hot dog in short, cardboard boxes. (Something really easy to stick her head in.) When she put her head in and took the treat, we immediately rewarded her with another small piece of hot dog in the exact same place as the first one. So she was learning that finding the first treat was the point of the game. Then we would put her in her crate (so she couldn't see where we were placing treats), put a piece of hot dog in just 1 or 2 boxes (not all boxes), and she would have to find which boxes contained hot dog and we'd reward her the same way. Once she figured out that the game was "find the pieces of hot dog," then we could hide them just about anywhere in the house and she'll sniff them out! I hope something like this can help you out with a crazy vizsla pup during lockdown! I've never really commented on someone's TH-cam page before, but nose work has helped us SO MUCH that I just want to share it with any other pet parent who is feeling terrorized by their vizsla. :)

Great updates so thank you for sharing. I’m just behind you in that our Vis (Peggy) is 8 weeks old. We have another Vis (Bella) who is 4 and she is taking the longest to accept our new family member, but overwhelmingly, V’s are such lovely dogs to have in the house and be outside with. Pleased are you enjoying the experience now as you will never regret having Lord Cannon in your life.

We go for a walk in the forest where our vizsla 11 weeks runs free for 20& 45 &20 min each day. Also many shorter on leach walks... She comes inside and does NOT sleep after that🤦🏼♀️😅 she stil has at least 2,5 hours of crazyness after walks. We are lucky to have a lot of nature where we live...

We're still in quarantine between puppy's vaccinations. And there will be 3 weeks more before we can go outside for a walks. So, this is a really a tough time for everyone of the family))
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Such a shame you are in quarantine. We did lots of brain training to try and keep Lord Cannon busy before he could go out for walks and that seemed to help a lot. 😊🐾

We have re homed a 16 week old vizsla bitch Nala ( that we got xmas eve) and we can relate to all of your comments! Walks and lots of training works with sleep time. Such fun and loving dogs. We get 22:30 to about 06:00 when she wakes for a wee and a poo then goes back for another hour in her crate. Routine is a key we find - good luck with his lordship - he looks a big boy.

In between the lovely clips of Lord Cannon could you please show all the equipment that you've had to get; playpen,crate, baskets, blankets, collar, dog coat, food, treats, toys, brushes. Anything that you can recommend or not recommend cos it's got destroyed too easily . Have I missed anything. Oh, have you used any training books, have you found anyone on TH-cam who you are following for training
Absolutely in the next video I will show his set up, toys ect. McCann dog training on TH-cam is good, I wish we would have used their training methods to begin with. 😊
Tired puppy is a good puppy. the biting i suspect as puppy teething. We froze a wet wash cloth in the shape of a bone our girl chewed it, that helped. Cold carrot too is great. Teething is painful for puppies so cold helps.

Hahaha, I ended up making a fort around it and he managed to jump over it! He is currently asleep on the sofa! 😳🤣🤣

How long did it take to potty train him?
A few weeks or so, we didn’t use puppy pads and for the first few weeks I probably took him outside every twenty mins, after food, water, sleep and play. If he did pee inside I totally ignored it and when he went outside I gave him lots of praise. 😊🐾
Not sure I understand why he’s wearing a jacket for a walk outside.
It’s been quite cold here recently and he starts shivering if he doesn’t have his coat on when it’s frosty. 😊🐾🐾
They are short haired and do get cold!
