I listened to this recording so many times while I was up with a new baby last winter, feeling lonely in the early hours and overwhelmed with every emotion. Richter's first movement especially was heaven during that time - melancholy; exquisitely, painfully beautiful; shimmering just out of reach... And now I'm preparing to record it, so all those nights spent awake have ended positively! Thank you.

Magic here by Richter!! Rubinstein once said, "Richter sings with his piano, and the piano responds." The voicing, how he accents all the right notes, I just love it. I can't imagine a performance of this piece ever exceeding this one in terms of technique, soul, and just overall beauty and perfection. 😁😁👍👍
