i love evgeny kissin
Первый среди равных. Лучший среди прекрасных.
Such a wonderful interpretation. So much care, thought, love and passion pouring through his fingers into every phrase…every note I should say.
[in response to another comment on Op 8 No. 5 being “massacred,” which I disagree with.]
Sounds pretty good to me. I sure haven’t learned it that fast and cleanly. He keeps it well controlled and expresses it well for the tempo he chose. It’s not an easy etude to play at that speed, by the way. Kissin is a technical wizard, and if he wants to play it that fast, then by all means he should, because we won’t hear it like that from most people. Maybe we’ll learn it another way, equally valid, but at a more manageable tempo, but Kissin cuts a new trail when he does it, and we all should be aware of it.

Op.8 no.5 is absolutely massacred here. I will never understand why so many pianists play it this way.
How is it “massacred”?
I'm curious, too...

I wouldn't say massacred, it's a fine performance by any standards, but I know what you mean. Because of Richter, that's why. Richter's performance brings out the beauty in this piece that nobody else seems capable of.
what are you even saying? you have no ears
Terrible - !!!! More than ten commercials all at the most terrible moments. I saw them all: The Brahms Hungarian Dance with the wrong note, the Fur Elise with the wrong note, the play four chords for 100-songs guy, johnny may’s improv workshop…. Too much!
