This build is reminding me of those like... oversized Lego characters as boss fights in some Lego games, where the lego pieces are GIGANTIC compared to minifigs.
@@MattDenton Got this in my recommended just now, lol this is great! A stormtrooper mech mech. You gonna go do a stormtrooper mech mech mech? Would love to see it lol
If you have not solved the ball joints already, I recommend getting a thin sheet of project foam and cutting off a piece and gluing it in the socket or on the ball. It compresses and should add enough friction to hold the position. Also, what about making a giant lifesized storm trooper mech to hold the mech you just made? That would be hilarious, but I cringe at how many spools that would take!
This was really enjoyable to watch. The sound of the blocks clicking together was fantastic. I'm not into ASMR but the satisfaction of each click was legit. Really impressed by your creative design and manufacturing skills.
Oh thanks 🙏 yeah I kept the music low so as not to interfere with the assembly sound (which I love) only one person so far has said “music up, mic down” :)
@@MattDentonhey, there's no way my comments will get to you if it was just my own but i wanted to know how much ink it normally cost to make these sets because I know for sure it's gonna cost if I possibly make a small scale Godzilla a giant one
One solution to the whimsy ball/socket joints might be adding rubber parts within the socket, kind of like that one socket piece from Bionicle with the rubber in it. I think Hero Factory also made an attachable secondary socket joint which served the same function. Excited to see what else you build in BIG scale 😎😎👍👍
Hello Matt, it's wonderful to witness your return to TH-cam and indulge in a slightly lengthier video. I not only admire your work. immensely, but you have also played a pivotal role in guiding me towards the realm of 3D printing and paving the way for my own journey. Ever since the Mk2 of Lego in 1972, I have been engrossed in studying this field, and it brings me great joy. Thank you sincerely for providing such inspiring content!☺️
I would love to see these modern technic rc crawler trucks, they are pretty big as is so I’d imagine scaling them up too much would be too much but seems like a fun project
6:33 "I don't know how he's driving his mech anymore." We'll just say it's Gurren Lagaan Rules and say it's spiral power/willpower. Honestly, once you have a mech inside a mech, there really isn't any other option.
Well some of the best sets I've seen aren't even lego and they are really good replicas of Pennsylvania, union pacific locomotives if you're looking for lego three really nice sets were the Emerald night I had as a kid and the lone ranger set my friend had and the new orient express should be very promising my friend had every set and you really can't go wrong with any of them but the steamers have a special place to me especially since it was my exposure to them that has gotten me involved with the live steam community to the point I'm saving up for a ohio boiler operators licenses and pricing out traction engines for my very rare early production frick sawmill (there is only three i know about in existence and that was with the help of Jerry Albright of Albright saw the current owner of the frick sawmill patterns) couple web sites I know of that are really good for non lego trains are block junction, bricktrainjunction they are ran by actual clubs and have designers that would probably be very helpful to you
When he put the actual lego mech into the big 3d printed mech reminded me of that one scene where the simpsons copied the avatar (the blue ones) when the general put his mech in a bigger mech to fight a big monster.
Here's sort of an issue here with using ball joints, they're too loose and eventually they get so loose that literally even the slightest touch will make them move to a position ya want them to be in, so I definitely recommend ratchet joints, the ratchet joints are also alot more durable than the ball joints are
im not gonna lie this was amazing! i loved the building process. wonder why you picked the stormtrooper mainly. you said it was on sale, but if one is on sale, shouldnt there be others? like the vader, or boba fett ones? hmm. i would like to see a bonus video of you possibly adding a scaled up minifigure and blaster to go with it, i'd think it'd be fun ^^ 2:40 not even 3d printed lego is safe from the crappy clip quality control. lol
Or you could put a groove in the ball, around its entire circumference, then use a wide rubber band to give it a band of rubber that protrudes slightly. The bands used for lobster claws are a good source of wide but small rubber bands, and you can prob find them in black.
Hey, you could even name this 4X scale of yours "Quadro", "quadruplo" or "Quadplo" just as Duplo are 2X scale Lego... Cool fun project, cheers and happy new year! (It's still time)
Well then, how about a lego AT-AT on this scale ? There is also an official motorized walking AT-AT lego model you can try to replicate.
No. Absolutely not.
That would be an nightmare to make
And based on the size of this it would be huge
1:1 scale Lego Star destroyer 💀
@@Captainrexoutrankseverythingmore like 1:4 but yea
I'm not a math guy but that's huge
Ok now XXL lego sets are on my bucket list

Evergreen Lego TH-camr is proud
Most definitely worth the wait. Festive activities really don't get any better than Star Wars & Lego. Thanks Matt, have a good one!

Interesting idea 🤔
This is a banger set if I’ve ever seen one, I also have this lego kit built right now!
You’re making me wonder what a large scale Lego Architecture set would be like.
You can use floor polish on a joint to tighten it up by basically adding more material to it after printing
Cool 👌
NOICE! I can't wait to watch how do you make a Mixel
Dope! A bionicle would be cool too!
Every Lego TH-camr is proud🎉🎉
Thanks 🙏
Check out what the Transformers fans do to stiffen up joints with stuff like glue and floor polish. Should work even at this large scale.
Will do 👍
U can hold up the mech suit like the Power Armor Workbench in Fallout 4 in 3:40 so it won’t fall from its weight 😊
👍 rear stand
That is brilliant! Thanks for your time in creating and making that, Matt :)
Fantastic model thanks for sharing
No problem 👍
star wars microfighter serie can be interesting that way aswell. Awsome video
Bro I went to the description and saw that the print files were there Thank you!
No problem 👍
We making it off of Endor with this one 🗣🗣🔥🔥
People gotta make more of these, they’re so cool!

Incredible work

INCEPTION
You should do some bionicle
I suggest axonn and brutaka
(Cuz those two could then be put together for Botar)
Nice to see you back! Don't worry. We are the most patient spectators in the world... take your time and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
It would be a huge project, but its an '80 icon that got modeld in lego in 2022. You should build a big scale BTTF Delorean!!
Almost got my son that mech. I have several kits upscaled to x5, just need the time to get them printed. One is the newer technic go cart.
Matt that is amazing.
Thanks 🙏

Would love to see a tutorial on your process for getting the tolerances just right. Love the vids. Happy holidays and happy new year!
A dude in a mech piloting a mech.
Technology is for the superiors, like all of us on the planet
An upsized UCS millennium falcon might be a cool project
The feature that snapped off at 2:48 is realistic, they snapped off occasionally with real Lego. Especially the ones on skeleton arms.
Good to know! Nailed it 😂
We all are still waiting on one of those lego steam trains those models are just too cool and fun
Yeah I’ve been thinking about that, if I eventually move I have a plan! Which kits are good? I don’t really know them that well.

Now you just need the stormtrooper Minifigur
You should make horizon tall neck lego set
I was really hoping you made the storm trooper

Get a Lego storm trooper alarm clock I think it would be big enough
Wa HEY that's the V4 boxer engine - I had that set.
Yeah check out the build on my channel 👌
That is one big mech
You need to recreate UCS millennium falcon one day
thank you for your video
it's always a pleasur when you post a video

Spray the balls and sockets with a light coat of Plasti Dip clear rubber coating spray? That'd greatly increase the friction and may make it posable.

Test cling film for the balljoints😊
Giant lego..100% that would be the result if I ever get my hands on a 3D printer..
Excellent! Thanks, Matt, for this short but fun video!
