Great video! As a former paraglider and light aircraft pilot I find weather super interesting. Even though one can master the theory, I find that it usually takes a lot of experience to reach a resonable level of prediction accuracy based on visual cues. Maybe you can end your little mini met-series with some macro- and local predictions and see how well they match with what you’re actually seeing on the ground? And maybe more importantly - when they don’t! 😊 Keep up the good work!
Cool, thanks! Thanks for awesome feedback - very encouraging. Predicting weather from visual clue is very powerful skill to have. I am working on cover this too, but it is not easy to make it into a chewable bite ;)
Happy new year and thank you for the informative video Chris, this is really useful. I’m personally interested in offshore weather, how to get it and how to interpret the data. I’m not too familiar with this but I have heard of terms like downloading GRAB files, iridium, etc. I.e. let’s say you’re off onto a west to east cross Atlantic passage that will take over 10-14 to complete, you will probably use Windy to get a nice 3-5 day window before you set sail but what will you do once you’re well offshore without any internet connection (assuming you don’t have Starlink). Cheers 🍻⛵️
Hi Akrim, That is a very good and a huge topic. Most sailor, novices to experienced rely on Data , grib file and weather routing software. If you are at sea , offshore , and your internet stop working, then a good understanding of weather , forecasting from clouds, change barometric pressure and shifting wind direction , can tell where you are in relation to an incoming depression, and if you need to prepare for a blow. I shall endeavor to make topics like getting gribfile offshore, , weather offshore, weather routing into "bite" size videos. Thanks for your good topic suggestion and taking time to let us know you found the video helpful. see you at the high seas
An excellent introduction to weather knowledge presented perfectly. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
You are most welcome - Thank you for the feedback. Do you have a weather related topic that you would me to make into a "bite" ?
Another lesson taken ✅at TH-cam U! 🤓 Excellent PPT. 👍🏻 ... but, you forget to mention Simpson Clouds... 😝
Shall include "the Simson" in the "Forecasting weather from Clouds" bite. Thanks for the Comment - very happy you liked it.
That’s a great lesson I appreciate your input
Thank you and happy new year to you and family
