How to lift a dirt bike onto a stand - for short people

  • So I did a bit of a poll on my instagram and facebook pages asking what types of videos do you guys like best or want to see more of. Many people were asking for advice and tutorials for shorter riders so I decided to start with a basic video on how to put your dirt bike on a stand. This is the method I found that works the best being a super short rider myself. It requires very little effort and works even when you don't have stilts for legs! I hope this video helps some of you out!

    I'm 5' 9 and ride a 450, and ive burned myself after rides trying the old school way of doing this not to mention sucking all the energy out of my body in between rides just to do this so I ended up buying a lift style stand. That said, I've looked at every youtube video on doing this but yours is hands down the best I've seen that literally anyone can do. Thanks for sharing.

    Good to see you not careening among trees, attack branches, and waist high logs! You make lifting that bike look pretty easy. I suspect your gym work has something to do with it! I have a 690 that I thought was too heavy to lift onto a stand (I use either Pitbull stands or a scissors lift platform) but I’ll give your way a try!

    I'm 5'3feet tall riding in a wr155r, beginner in trail cos i just bought it yesterday. Watching many videos of putting it in a stand made me hopeless cos i lack the leverage for their method of putting it in a stand. After watching this, I gain the confidence. You are an angel. You just earned a new subscriber. Hoping for more videos.🙂

    @weevilinabox 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Great tip, Megs. I'm a 5" 11' guy and use the same method. I'm all for making things easier.
    If you have some way of locking the front brake on---like a Velcro strap, cable tie, or appropriately bent piece of wire---you can put the matrix stand on the right-hand side of the bike. This means you can lift from the left-hand side, starting with bike on its sidestand. It saves having to walk around the front whilst balancing the bike.
    As for strength, we all know you're 5' 3" of power and determination. And probably stronger than half the guys watching this.

    Holy crap. Never thought of doing it your way. Less weight to lift compared to lifting by the handle near the seat/silencer which may be hot/rear swingarm and some leverage advantage also. Thanx so much.

I’ve been getting pains in my back from lifting the traditional way and I have an xr100r so not even a “big” bike necessarily plus I’m 5’8” and it’s still very challenging; I’d like to think I’m pretty strong too. I'm 5'7" with a 29 inseam. Short, but I use the method you had a hard time with. pull it by the sub frame to you hip and toss it on the stand. Works well. Couldn't do that with my 450 as it was taller. I used to grab lean it on me and grab the swing arm to put it up there. Bought a scissor lift stand. Works great. Basicly I can just roll the bikes over it and lock the pegs down and jack it up to about chest high. Bought be when they were a little less than they are now. Had it for better than 10 years. A bit heavy, but still works like a champ. That is also an option if you have a dedicated garage. To heavy to carry around IMO.
