- Hey guys this video is a walk-through for those new to the Community Editor and a revisit to those who haven't seen it in a while. The Editor is the most powerful Modding tool available for State of Decay 2 and like all other available mods for SOD is only available at the State of Decay 2 Modding Discord where we are constantly rolling out new Mods as well as updates for the rest, not to mention we offer 24 hour a day support for any Modding questions you have. Edit your community name, characters looks and Voices, Traits & Skills, Unlock all Bounties, Clothing, and Daybreak items, Revive the dead. @@doubleohdan5198 I do have a short video I did to show the steps in the basic recipe but I haven't uploaded it since the Undead CU 14 update gave people such problems with the suppressors and brakes but I may go ahead and post it anyways

Great video now I need to know how to install and make it work
I have a number of questions about max stat weapons.
1. If you max out its damage, will it one shot kill on any body part just like a 50 cal would, or would you need to specifically have a 50 cal gun? I'm looking for an automatic 50 cal like the 50 cal AK from the old days without the restrictions that come from the Dev weapon.
2. Speaking of that dev weapon, it has ungodly recoil. Will maxing out the stats make it manageable, almost like shooting a normal ar?
3. Are there any modifications that can be done to melee weapons?
Ok so as far as the max stat to ammo other than 50 cal, Maxing power will not make the impact as deadly as a 50. While it can make the larger cal such as 7.62 & 5.56 pretty near brick wall stopping power, the 50 cal ammo actually function i the game code almost like it has a small explosion upon impact which is why it is able to do tremendous damage As for the Dev test gun, yes indeed it does have insane recoil but it was never meant for public use and beyond that we dont offer any advice pertaining to trying to mod it, but I will say it prob wont do much the B50FG is just as powerful and is more controllable. As for Melee they are modifiable but only with a file mod

Thank you for the tutorial! Really helped out a lot. My girlfriend said someone offered to mod her account for $20 and i told her I would just do it. I searched for a modding tutorial found this video and just followed along and now shes all set.

Yeah thanks again. But, i cant seem to use all outfits, all daybreak items, or all bounties...it just close out of the program :/

small question. Every time i try to change a range weapon. Lets say from a pistol to a rifle. the game doesnt understand that the ammo has changed. it still things the rifle should use pistol ammo.
How do i work around this? or am i forced to find a weapon that shares the same ammo with the one i want to "swap" with or change out.
All I want to do is delete communities... The warlord quest bugged out 3 times, where they want you to trade for supplies and then become friendly - they didn't, and as a result I have 3 communities that are "Cold" and there are no follow up quests to improve the relationship.
I can delete 2 out of the 3 members, but not the actual enclave. Any hints?
This is fantastic! One question though. Our save games/characters could not be transferred to Steam. Any chance you could convert save game files between xbox live and steam? The files for both seem completely different.
You can transfer save files from windows to steam. There’s a guide on the steam forums, that was the original, that’s also linked to from reddit. It says how to transfer communities and prestige.
Any idea on why some names I would be using won't save right? For instance, I have someone named Mason F (Nickname Mace). The nickname shows properly but in game the full name is showing as Mace Mace but 6 other characters names are working fine. I have 3 having these issues.
So this might be a question you might not be able to answer...can i load my save from the xbox one onto a usb, and then download the mod, ane use the mod to change my community on my usb?
Unfortunately no believe me if it were that easy for Console players to mod we would have it up on the Discord

I clicked the “export” button when applying all the traits that I wanted, but what happens when I do this? Like how do I re-import them to another character?
Do they get exported to a file somewhere on my PC? Or is it just internal to the application and all I have to do is click on another character and click import?

So I’m trying to make a community of survivors with civilian plate carriers/vests....not the red talon guys vest or army vest...is there an option for the survivor drop down customization bar that specifically gives them a vest...?
Is there an updated video? I remove none of the defaults mannerisms, but my edited characters have no dialogue for dismissing teammates, and no quests. edit: I changed the hero bonus and added things like can sleep anywhere and furniture adjuster as well as the voice but didn't touch the characteristics or any debug trait.

Hey sorry I haven't uploaded that yet. Truth i with the new update scheduled to hit I was waiting to see what they were going to ad to make sure the update wasn't going to add or change skills or traits and make the video instantly obsolete but I will ge that up for you guys
For the descriptors could I just replace them with another and build a personality?
Like for example I replace old with young
A member in an enclave died, I revived him with the CE and his 5th skill is gone, I've tried to return it as I can't recruit any of the members from the community, atm how exactly do I re-add the skill I've gone to where it is and re add it but when I go into the game the 5th skill is not there on 4.1.11a version I got medicine at 7 but whenever I change it to surgery and load into the game the 5th skill simply isn't there
when i load into my edited game and make some progress, when i leave the game and load back up another time the progress is gone. how do i save the game so that all my progress is there for when i play again?
I guess if you use some of the wrong voices the game will bug out on some options where they don't have any preset dialogue for those voices.
Care to elaborate? I would like to know more about this
There’s story elements for example dialog that only a male character will talk, that a female voice doesn’t have dialog for. As for as I know, it was tested out already. It doesn’t crash the game, the dialog continues as normal, but no voice will be played. There is however can soft lock in certain dialogs, where the game is waiting for voice response dialog that doesn’t happen.
So the stuff shows up when I load up on my pc, but when I load up on the xbox, it only shows what I had previous to modding my stuff. Can you help me out?
Ok so make sure you save the changes but then make sure you log into the game on PC again and force a save by changing characters or dropping something on the ground then turn off the game and go over to XBOX and load the game
Esteban Castaneda I found out all I had to do was delete my save data and play again to sync my data on xbox, just make sure you have it on your pc at least.

I just bought SOD2 on steam and when I'm trying to open the editor it says 'being a pirate is not alright with me, buy the game first'
Ok so the current version of the editor looks at the path where the save was located but Microsoft stopped using the UWP platform with this game which changed the folder location. We are getting ready to release the Community editor 4.0 in the next day or 2 and it will be far more powerful than this one ever was. So if people had a cracked version of the game in the past, those version stored saves in a different place plus the steam version has a separate location and would flag it as a pirated copy, it would also do this if you downloaded the editor and opened it without opening the game first and forcing a save once but we are updating over 50 mods and are dealing with support , its been a long 36 hours and we are still going but keep checking back for the update

bro i did something to where i cant melee with anymore with fist or weapon using RT but i can swing with X but it doesnt do any damage, any help on how to fix it?
Did you click on the nueture melee icon on the cheat building. Thats what it does, makes melee weapons mom lethal. Its a developer test mode

Having an issue with guns they either won't reload at all or they all hold 51 rounds? Any thoughts?
First did you add mags to the weapon when you modded it because you have to add mags to add ammo capacity 2nd if you changed 1 gun to another caliper then sometimes when you get into the game you have to drop it on the ground and pick it up again this makes the game engine reset the caliper

This only loads a default (I guess) save that isn't mine when I click to load Heartland. Loading Heartland is the only option I get. I thought this worked on SoD 2?
There are no defaults in the editor it literally looks at what saves you currently have and allows you to edit them. Sometimes what you have to do if this is the first time you have downloaded and used the editor then you need to make sure you play the game on your main community you want to edit for a few minutes then get the game to save by changing characters or putting something in your locker. then exit the game then start the editor and choose community 1 for your current community
When I try to edit my community in the application, a broken button automatically appears in the window where my community information is supposed to be, how do I fix it?
I tried to do an OP community member and it took waaaay to long going through those skills,is there a option Heilos can put in to let you click and put all of a certain trait?
OMFG Please tell Heilos we need that damn option, urg the time you would save people from going through 1000 traits

How safe is downloading this editor to my computer? It won’t give me a virus or anything right?
Im so confused i have this same editor but a Later Version. There is no save button at the bottom anymore. So it seems my only option is to import it manually. But im one windows 11 and every guide ive watched is on 10. And since the layout is different i cant navigate to find my save file. Which sucks because I have the perfect immune Red Talon member. But their cooking skill gives more Infection Per Hit cancelling it out somewhat.

How can I copy one of my communities and put it into another open community slot? AKA I just want to copy my save game. Shame the game doesn't have this feature to begin with!

Is this game hard to run? I just have plain MacBook I’ve only ever played Sims on it but I play on console and this would be a game changer I wouldn’t even mind rebuying
SOD2 is a Microsoft game so unless you have an apple with dual operating systems it prob wont run on the mac-book because you need to download i fro the Microsoft store

Hey there so first please realize this video is on our old Editor we are on version 4 now ill leave a link in the bottom. So once you download the Community Editor you need to make sure you have played a game and force a save by changing characters then open the editor th-cam.com/video/i1Ww_uTWLnM/w-d-xo.html
Also because you are downloading from somewhere other than the store and its purpose is to edit the games save, sometimes Windows will flag it and you have to go into the app and browser control area to click allow and let it go through
do the mods just load in or do you activate them?
The changes made in Community Editor will take effect when you load into the game. If using a Pak or Cooked mod then you just download them and place the mod in the appropriate location and it works until you remove it. There are more updated videos on my channel this one is a bit old and there is a new version of the Community Editor. can anyone help me , i use cracked version of the game and it is update 26 , when i launch the comunity editor it say uncompressed save load in game first , what should i do ?

I was having an issue where when I modified health and stamina stats, save and load my game it would set me at about 9 and 45 respectively.
Fixed it? Still working?
I use this tool to fix game bugs, sometimes when I summon a vehicle it is bounced into the sky and explodes so basically the game just says F you you lose 1k Inf and you will like it, it is really fun when it happens in desperation. Sorry not sorry I am not letting the game screw me out of my hard earned inf.

@@Dom-1088 First things first, be sure it is the State of Decay 2 modding discord, secondly be sure to go through the rules because it gives you the password to unlock the Discord, once you unlock, you will see a bunch of channels show, one of those is the CE download. Hope that helps. :)

Ever since I changed my community everytime I log in, it just returns me to the point of my first edit. It doesn't save any progress I make.

Ok so we always have to update the Editor when the game updates but usually we put up a new version that day. This time we are rolling out the next generation ver 4.0 in the next day or 2 after we fix all the other crap caused by Microsoft removing the UWP format from the game

What happens if I put all the attachments on a gun also how do I get these on XBOX it's not transfering
Putting multiple attachments is fine & in fact how we make max stats weapons. for max stats we place 5 adv. brakes, 5 adv. chokes, 1 adv suppressor then the scope_c and what ever scope you want

If you have legal copy them it will recognize the editor...if not...you cannot use it

If the download is just not working it is probably your virus software being overprotective and catching it

It depends on what your talking about. The "Mod Tool" was a creation of Josh and has been an out of date deprecated tool for a year and a half the Community Editor by Kai Heilos is is what we use now. Since the Jug Update the previous version of the editor are no longer supported by us because we are getting ready to release ver 4.0 its a new built from the ground up app that is far more powerful than anything we have put out before

I know this is an old video/post... but anyone still use the community editor for state of decay. I was using it, but now when I open it, it says "The editor has hit a fatal error and cannot continue" Then wants to know what store i have the game on so my saves can be zipped and placed in a folder and states it may be asked for on discord to help debug the issue... This is the first time i tried to use the community editor since the SOD2 update recently. Maybe this has something to do with it.
Are you still using this old version because it wouldnt have been working for a long time. If you have updated its not working because the game received an update yesterday so hellos will be working on getting it updated within the next few days
I downloaded the editor but it says I can not run this app on my pc. its funny I could download the game to my laptop but the app wont open.(update: Okay I reinstalled it and now it works, thanks man)

@@TxDigitalGaming Thanks for the help, I just re-installed the jugg edition to pc and need to download the recent editor update on modding discord. My laptop is just good enough to atleast run the game long enough to drop and pick up a item. It runs super slow. But atleast it gets the job done.

We have 30,000 people and none have ever gotten a virus. The Cheat Engine comes from a paid sponsor so if you download it just make sure you don't accept any other programs it offers. Community Editor though is made by our Modder Heilos in house so we Guarantee it is safe

When I click unlock all bounties or outfits the program just crashs that's goes for the other options too what should I do
Do you have the most recent ver of the Community Editor ver 3.1.7a if so make sure you remembered that it is a compressed folder .ZIP and you have to extract it before using it. once you have done that make sure you load into your game first and force a save by changing characters or dropping a weapon on the floor . the exit the game open the editor and try again. if it does it again try going to the bounty broker first to just start a mission then exit and start the Community Editor again and try clicking n the unlock button. If all the above fails please come to the discord so we can assist you better

So i finally got it to download and work after all that headache with the microsoft defender etc etc.. Right? Now i am stumped because when i finally open up the menu it is all blank i tried to click like you did in the video nothing then happened everything is just all blank i do not see any communities what so ever how do i fix that by chance?

Ehm i have a question, i just eddited a couple survivors and other things but the game wont update my game on xbox or pc and i saved the edditing 100 times, can someone he;p me?

You probably didn't extract the folder. Remember its a compressed .zip file when you download it to save space. so instead of just clicking on the folder and opening it do this instead , right click it to show the options and go down to extract all and select that. chose the location you want to extract it to. then click on the extracted community editor file
can you do this in heartland?
Perfect! Needed to play, don't understand why not in vanilla. Perhaps because some will use it to cheat god warrior, but I just will do myself,girlfriend and friends
I understand but that's why I coined Ethical Modding because the Modders at the discord all believe that mods should be used to extend the life of the game by letting you experience it in new ways and we tell everyone to never push mods on anyone. We also have an item-request area for Console players so they can request modded weapons and tons of resources

It's not putting the items on my xbox files it says load last files
So to male the sace transfer to XBOX have to first open the game on PC force a save by dropping something on the ground or changing characters then close the game open the editor, make edits then save and exit then load the game on PC again so the edits save to the pc then force la save again by dropping on the ground, that way the save will go to the cloud. Then close the game and open it on XBOX
