From what I understand it depends on the type of venom. Given browns have necrotic or basically flesh eating venom there's very little they can do to be immune to such a thing.
@@isleofdead1337 I said browns as a short of king brown i'm not a herpitoligest I didn't even know black snakes was a family I just know king browns have necrotic venom.
Yeah that man was a trooper. He deserves all the credit for that whole procedure. Even with their experience I don’t think that’s something I would ever volunteer for!
To a Mulga snake, they are one of my favorite snakes in Australia. That had to be one of the most stressful scenes towards such remarkable serpents. I am truly glad you've done everything that is possible to save the Mulga snake's life, you are truly wildlife's guardian angels. That I promise you it is the truth you needed to hear from my point of view.
My daughter wants to be a qualified herpetologist and has just started on her journey by assisting th lovely Lee from Reptile Realms here in WA by housesitting 16 snakes, 4 frilled necks, 12 blue tongues, bobtails and skinks, 2 scorpions, 1 tarantula and the four cats and 2 dogs. She has also just gotten her first snake; a gorgeous Stimson. She loves watching videos like this.
That keeper Chris is crazy tough. They didnt cover enough that this 9 foot snake is fighting with every ounce to get out of his hand the entire time, we only see it when its the big sudden movements.
Bro was just chillin while other dude was struggling to hold the snake lmao and bro and the other handler just choppin it up hahaha ibet the other dude was pissed after that
I’ve kept pythons and I know how they get when they get over excited with food. I’ve been bit a couple times too even with tongs. I’ve never seen a snake bite itself though. I can see it happening because of the food but it’s still pretty crazy.
Geez, that there King Brown means business! And you can tell the snakes in that facility HATE Humans and take EVERY opportunity to take out their frustrations onto that "milking Glass!" As soon as Hank saw the Glass, he was already wanting to bite it! Hank the Tank is a very angry customer, and obviously HATES having to submit to "milking", you can see it in his behavior, and I for one wouldn't want to be the poor sap who gets bit by him, because his tail looks the way it does because of his nature to hold on and CHEW. Like Chris Says, Hank just kept coming out of his chamber, a 3 meter long snake is getting as big as an average King Cobra, but the real big ones are still bigger at 5-5.4 meters
Why didn't they tube it i feel like it would have been easier to hold safely for a long period if its head was in one of the clear tubes they use for other procedures
@Dylan-Quincy no they don't have to sedate the snake and it's fairly easy to tube them the snake goes in the tube if its own accord thats y I don't understand why they didn't do it just search tubing a snake here on TH-cam and you'll see how much easier and safer it would have been
Nope, they're actually around 8 or 9th just in Australia. The deadliest is the Taipan, the 2nd is the Eastern brown. Fun fact, the King Brown and Eastern Brown are so distantly related, they are basically 2 different snakes. The King browns Venom is not that strong comparatively to many snakes, but they are renowned for being aggressive bastards that will bite more than once. The record for bites was 12 on a human. They inject on average around 10-20x as much venom in a single bite compared to that of most snakes, that's what makes them dangerous.
@@Floridaman1780_ The proper name for the King Brown is Mulga Snake, they grow a fair bit bigger than the Eastern Brown, but the Eastern Brown has alot more toxic venom.
It might be an infection from chewing himself up. I do know that with humans that are bitten by snakes infections with multiresistent bacteria are a thing. Pretty recent a paper was released that found that snakes venom glands aren't sterile like first thought but do contain the kind off multiresistant bacteria that we find in snakebite victims.
Got to admit it strikes me as a little disrespectful for a vet to keep rabbiting on despite the handler very clearly stating he is struggling to keep himself, the manager and the vet safe.
Wait a min... Shouldn`t they sedate the snake in the first step just to keep the guy holding it safe? That seems like an unnecessary danger for me. But I guess because they also wanted to get a clean milk from him it makes sense.
So, he said the King Brown was the most venomous snake in the world, but I thought that was the Inland Taipan. Or is it a matter of yield? Like the Taipan has more potent venom but because the Brown has a greater yield, they are being called the most venomous?
Poor Hank has to live in a box on kitty litter pellets :( Understand we need his venom to save lives but could give the snakes a more natural environment. Guess it comes down to who is willing to pay for the well being of the snake, no slight on the snake handlers, they do a great job with available resources.
They always forget to mention most of these snakes have anti venom styrums. They purley leave that out to have a stronger fear factor. As if they are risking their lives with every snake they own. When they don't. 😂
Can someone make their own antivenom at home? Lets say I have a horse and a venomous snake. Horse gets a small amount of venom over a long period of time. Blood is taken from the horse and thrown in a centrifuge. Plasma is separated and then what?
Yeah this seemed kind of sketchy the whole way through, getting the snake out without a plan, leaving it whipping around while they transported it, waiting literally weeks to get treatment when the snakes tail had rotted to the bone. It's wild that they put this out thinking it's a good look. Shout-out to Billy though, he's gotta deal with Chris being a moron and still managed to handle Hank like a champ
“And he’s… bitten himself.
Snake: “I may be stupid,”
THIS HAD ME ROLLING

I didn't think snakes could poison themselves with their own venom, I always assumed they were immune😳
It's so bizarre! 😲
I reckon it's some kind of bacterial necrosis. The snake obviously has some immunity, otherwise he would have already died.
I think it depends on the snake venom
It’s venomous not poisonous
Well they are, at least to the part of the venom that would kill them, but they can't do much about flesh eating enzimes

I think his name is Bill
Amazed by the damage it’s done .. literally to the bone 😢.. I hope he recovers well ❤
I find Hank the tank pretty cute :3 I mean that face 💕. I hope he recovers all good and well!
Man, he looked like he was proper sulking at the end there.
Hank: This is humiliating, I did not consent to being filmed
Billy's arm 😳 now those are battle scars
He's been the snake holder for too long lol
I saw that too
Man give that man a break lol his hands aching
"one slip and its over" meanwhile snake wrangler dudes arm is COVERED in bites
You kinda forget that a snake is pretty much just a muscle tube
Poor guy was defensive due to injury, any preditor in a vulnerable situation will lash out to keep safe, even when you're trying to help him

How many people came here after seeing the short?

Was there ever a follow up on how this big guy is doing?

Poor boy. Couldn't you use a local anesthetic spray to make it less painful to clean his wound?
King browns as i understand it will bite themselves if they feel in danger to make themselves poisonous to what will eat them.
Can you give anti venom to a venomous snake that bit itself?
Why didn’t they have him latch to the glass the whole time?
Horrible for the snake but so so funny at the same time
Sweaty palms content, this! Phew!
I’m sorry but, could they not just anaesthetise the snake?

Reptile got Anger issues.......
what a silly sausage!
Aw poor baby
he probably wouldnt bite himself in the wild. who knows how youd act if you were caged 24/7
It's quite ironic but, wouldn't this snake benefit from antivenom?
Its venom is necrotic, so I don’t think anti-venom would work since the issue is tissue damage and not that it poisoned itself.
arent they resistant to their own venom istg i read a study on that
I always thought that
Well rip man
Who cares if his tail rots off! He shouldn’t have bit himself.
