    You are so brave, separating the roots in your Aerogarden sponges, and it paid off!

    Thank you for showing an update on transplanting the seedlings 🌱 from the Aerogarden to outside in the garden. I am binge watching videos right now on what the best method is to transplant them so they don’t die and so far what I have come across I think the best thing to do is just bring the aero garden outside everyday to harden them off, I like the part about skipping up potting them all to individual cups, so that way it’s easier and skipping that entire step. I’m definitely trying to figure out the best way because I have 31 different varieties of tomatoes 🍅😂🤣😂 I’m praying 🙏 and hoping for the best!!!

    • @VeggiePHARMing
      @VeggiePHARMing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve tried a couple ways to harden off without potting up. I’ve tried just taking individual pods outside in a cup of water for short periods or keeping in shade and that works also for times when things are growing at different rates. I’ve always up potted my tomatoes into soil first. Best of luck, those tomatoes are strong plants I’m sure they will survive whichever way you choose!! Happy Spring 🌱☀️

    Oh my! Great idea separating them and transplanting into one planter to acclimate the roots.

    Excellent idea for composting in place!!! Great job on transplanting! I see, that if you don't let the plants get to large in the system they're easier to separate. Thanks so much for sharing!!!

      The composting in place seems to be working well so far with no animal disturbance! I’m pleased with it.
      Yes, with the Aerogarden seed starting system there are so many plants you definitely can’t let them get too large or the roots will tangle.
      Thanks for watching!🌱💚

    • @GodsChild145
      @GodsChild145 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VeggiePHARMing When the roots tangle I just gently take whatever’s handy at the time like the end of a spoon and start at the top where the roots are coming out of the sponge and than just slide the spoon down and it seperate’s them perfectly!!! Also if they are tangled up so bad you can’t separate them you can just cut them off, leaving them at least an inch long and they will not die! I do a ton of Hydroponics (both inside and outside) using several methods but I have both the Aerogarden and other units and I have experimented around with that and watched a ton of other videos. There is one in particular where the lady purposely cuts the roots off of every single plant she grows in the Aerogarden (the ones permanently staying there for the whole growth cycle) and CHOPS them right off leaving only 1 inch of roots left!!! She does it every single time that she does the complete water change that they recommend doing once per month and she’s been doing it that way for several years and I’m not even kidding you when I tell you that it actually makes the plant healthier and grow like crazy!!! I have experimented around with it a little bit and it did exactly what it does to hers, making them grow like crazy and I’m not sure why or how that makes sense but I’m dead serious!!!

    Wow they look so nice. 💚 Love that they seem easy to separate from the sponge. I’ve tried the compost in place, and my plants loved it. Roots grew into mine though because I had holes all over the sides, so I eventually wasn’t able to keep adding stuff to the bin, but I’m going to use it this year because I had my best harvests then.

    • @GodsChild145
      @GodsChild145 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have been watching a ton of videos about composting in place and there’s a couple different methods that people are doing and all of them work really well.
      I always have a 5 gallon bucket in the middle of my garden that I use for when I’m pruning my plants and just throw everything in there until it gets full and then transfer it over to my big totes that I use for composting.
      You can use anything that has a lid!!! It’s a great way to repurpose things like those bigger size yogurt, sour cream or any food containers and if you wanted you can even spray pain them black just make sure whatever you use that you have a lid and then use a drill and put a bunch of holes in the bottom or one really big hole with a 3” hole saw or you can even completely cut off the entire bottom of the bucket…. I’ve seen it done multiple ways and all of them produce excellent results! The key to doing this is to make sure that whatever you put in the compost bin you chop it up into little pieces just like you would chop things up when you are cooking a meal. It makes the whole composting process 10 times faster so that way your plants will actually be able to utilize that fertilizer ♥️ then just keep adding to it all the time. Since you’re chopping up whatever you put in there really small you can even use something like a 2 L bottle because the pieces will fit in the top with no problem, and then use SEVERAL of them throughout the garden bed so that way you are feeding multiple plants and not just the one or two in that area.

    • @VeggiePHARMing
      @VeggiePHARMing  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I try to leave the more delicate things in the sponge but I always separate the tomatoes and peppers. It helps me to get even more plants from the seed starting system. Thanks for watching Mike!

      @@VeggiePHARMing oh I get ya...I seperate when tiny so the sponge isnt effected..thanks for explaining

    • @VeggiePHARMing
      @VeggiePHARMing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mikeschaoticgardening That’s a good idea also!

    • @GodsChild145
      @GodsChild145 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikeschaoticgardening Yeah the best way to seperate the seedlings 🌱 if you have more than one germinate in the little sponge is to pull straight up and as long as you do this before the seedling is 1 inch tall then it doesn’t destroy the root’s of either plant and then you have a 2nd plant for your garden 🪴
      If you wait any longer than that the root’s intertwine and you can pull the sponge apart gently to separate them just like she did. I always have excellent success with seeds… I’m not sure if it’s because I store them really well or if it’s because I am really particular when starting seeds and making sure they have moisture etc. but I always have 100% germination so I never put more than one seed in the hole.

    When you say you put the base outdoors to harden off the seedlings how long did you leave them outdoors before you planted them in the raised bed? And did you leave the base outdoors near the location that became their new home? Thanks

    • @VeggiePHARMing
      @VeggiePHARMing  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I left the whole base outdoors in a shaded area at first for 2-3 days,then moved it into the area it would be planted for about 4-5 days. So I hardened them off for about a week before planting.
      Thanks for watching 🌱💚
