I just sat here and watched this man sell hot dogs for a hour. I loved every min of it. Hope he made a killin that day!
Watching this in 2024, wonder what he's charging now?
the more I watch this video and I watched it about 100 times the more he motivates me
I get that way too.
Ben. Having watched most all your videos I noted you said " get a grill even if you don't use it " now I see what you mean. Water dogs and then on the grill with buns, very handy !! He has quite a business going and I'm writing down and soaking up everything I see and hear. Thank you for your great videos and advice.
My pleasure!
I really do not know why I like this video so much because I cook my hot dogs at home in my kitchen, but is so nice to see one day in the life of a hot dog vendor. His dogs probably are delicious. He takes to much care to prepare the recipes for his customers. Guys, I really love this video and watch it often. Thank You for posting this.
Thank you.
calm down before you explode over some wieners
Best hotdog vendor video ever!
Hi...it's awesome to see a local hotdog cart. I'll try to visit!!
Taking care of business, screwing with the customers and layed back. Love his style! Like a duck in a pond... calm on top, but paddling like hell below the surface. Good on you brother!
🎉🎉🎉😂🎉🎉🎉😢😢😮😂
Ben you are awesome too watch. Always so full of encouragement for these guys and gals. It's always a pleasure to watch your videos.

Very efficient & impeccable customer service❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!
@@BensCarts you're very welcome, thank you!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Ben……just found your videos and we are researching our options here in South Florida. We have a location already in my wife’s business parking lot on one of the busiest corners. She owns the property. Right now looking at getting the commissary. Many steps, hoops to jump through before grilling the 1st dog. 🙄😏. But like you said in one of your other videos, do what you have to do to get it going it will work. On another note the funny thing is we probably drove by that stand when we were there about the time you recorded this video. We spent the summer in Asheville and we were golfing all of the area courses and drove through and stopped in Waynesville many times to eat either before or after golfing. Love your honesty and teaching newbies. Sharing your knowledge comes back to you in many blessings. Would like to buy you a beer and shoot pool with you next time through the area 😂. Keep up the great educational network you’re providing!!!!! 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻😉🌭
I know this vid posted 5yrs ago, but i just came across it today 1/29/23 around 7pm. Hope all is well and you're still hustling that nice hot dog cart. Im all about it being born and raised in NYC. Every time in in any state and see a cart, im deffinetly stopping, even if i just ate. Support your local business people.
Hope you're still in it to win it because those hotdogs look good af and your attitude and drive is what i love seeing brother! 🤘🤘🤘
Thank you!
Really enjoyed watching him work and gave me lots of knowledge for a beginner. I’m in Australia so our toppings are much different although I do 3 American style ones. You guys are great 👍
Thank you AW.
Curious, what type of toppings do they do over in Australia?
In Australia down under the hot dogs are made of kangaroo meat and topped with vegemite or kiwi relish. Or we just throw another shrimp on the Barbie. Krikey mate!
Karl Ruehs kiwi relish sounds delish. I've done mango apple relish here in the US and it's always a hit so I may have to do an "Aussie" dog at some point.
Justin Richey To be honest, I just made that stuff up as a funny joke! But, yes, kiwi 🥝 relish does sound good! Thx mate!
Just good business 101. Congrats and thanks for sharing.
Sure would love one of a cart. Got find a place that takes payments monthly
Can't believe he calls those mountains LOL
I know... out west ya'll have real mountains. 😂
I like my pickled red onions on many things like on hot dawgs.
Do you know what brand kielbasa he uses
which model of hot dog cart is this and how much did it cost. PS now im hungry after watching this video.
He has the Big Dog®
@@BensCarts thanks I'll look it up
Ben - as a fellow smoker, I'm curious how you work your smoke breaks into a lunch service. Is it something you shy away from doing during work hours, or do you throw up a "back in 5 sign" and wander off for a minute?
Zen pouches is what I use when I can't smoke.
4:36 Stan Lee gettin a dog, who knew.
is that a custom made cart? Is it possible to get that exact set-up from some where? thx for the vid btw
That is a Cash Cow® from Hotdogcartstore.com
Hotdog 🌭 action 101 ❤
I was wondering what kind of license do you have to have to have a hot dog stand
A health permit for food service and usually a local business license. I cover it all step by step FREE here: learnhotdogs.com/start
how you season the water
Just a hint if your in NC, get yourself a multi year tag, they don't tell ya at the DMV. It's $98 one time fee for the length you hold your tag! Nice set up BTW! It only is for trailer tags.
Great tip. I have 2 vehicles for family I have registered there. Didn't know this.
@@BensCarts It's only for trailer tags but you do save some money!
hi, can you use commissary in a different county from where you sale dogs ?
Awesome video. Just starting out myself. Thank you!
You can do it!
Love the shelf that holds the condiment tray, where can I get a shelf like that? Keep Rockin’ it
I don't remember Dave.
( try ' Webstaurant Store' ...
A lot of my Equipment & supplies came from there...) 👍😊

I wish if here in Tampa Florida. I coulld see hotdog vendors, with their carts. All i see are food trucks selling pork chops, ribs and tacos I miss having a good hotdog from a cart. I love chilli with beans and those potato chip sticks.. Thats what i used to buy in Puerto Rico. When going to Middle school. This vendor location was in front of a I don't understand, with florida having great beaches, parks and being Tropical. I have not crossed myself with hotdog vendors. I am wondering if this channel ownern know if hotdog cart business does exist in Fl. Hiillsborough county area. I am within these areas Tampa, Brandon, Valrico, Riverview, Gibsonton, Apollo Beach. I figure it could be a goldmine a hotdog cart, not far from the big courthouse. I believe is in 800 E Twiggs St.
Florida has 100's of hot dog vendors. Check your Google... and you can check f/book too! www.google.com/search?q=tampa+hot+dog+vendor&oq=tampa+hot+dog+vendor&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRirAjIKCAUQIRgWGB0YHtIBCDMxNzFqMGoxqAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Glad you showed how to handle money. Thats been giving me anxiety as I try to motivate myself.
Happy to help.
This last Sunday I saw a vendor cart with an electrical generator selling BREAKFAST waffle dogs with a cup of syrup. He had breakfast waffle dogs, plain waffles on a stick & cheese waffles on a stick all with a small cup of syrup for dipping. The swap meet venders and early swap meeter all got a breakfast from his cart. He sold coffee from a pot. When it got later on he began selling hot dogs. I was amazed at the volume of sales he was making selling breakfast.
Exactly! I stumbled into breakfast accidentally when I was at the fleamarket on the 2nd day. I arrived early and all the vendors who were setting up were asking about breakfast. The next weekend, I had biscuits pre wrapped and sold out. I continued this the entire time I worked that flea market.
Awesome.
Baked beans on the Hot dog is awesome
GREAT video 👍❤👍
AWSOME tips ✌
Careful with those "just a little bit" customers because they will expect you to throw it away if it has too much trust me. I worked for subway back in 2007 still remember the there's a tad too much Italian dressing on my sub can you make me a new one. then when I put half the amount she goes oh you can put more. so I said Ma'am how about I put some in a 1oz solo cup and you can add whatever amount makes you happy, the look on her stupid face was priceless.
hahahahaha Love it!
I could easy have 3 of them bad boys🌭🌭🌭💙respect guys from Liverpool 🇬🇧🇺🇲🍺
Just wanted to add to this video to those watching and listening for the first time .. when pre-season your water keep to your receipe and don't change it ... I did and people noticed the difference in taste ... make it your own and stick to it! And when people ask what brand hot dogs you have tell them it's your brand, except when your in an area like me that insist on BrightLeaf Red Hots ... I gotta tell them it's Carolina Reds lol I do have other dogs and sausages that I claim as my own flavor to them, but ppl here know their reds and I'm stuck serving them the way they are used to!
That $90 permit is bull shit .. I'm over in Wake County NC and dont have that....
Excellent advice!
Man , you are a good guy for sharing so much info. I hope I can bring you some business because of your diligent efforts. I'm from NC living in FL now. Looking for a cash side business.
Thanks Bret!
Very nice I would love one of them hot dogs !🖒
They are delicious.
This is so enternaining. I am glad to have crossed myself with this video. I hope you spend other times with him, recording his hotdog business. Its been so many yrs, since i've had a hotdog from a cart. When i used to live in Puerto Rico. And being in middle school. Many students used to stop at a hotdog cart. Chili with beans, onions or souerkrout. Chip sticks. Soda, orange juice. $2.50. Here in Florida, where i live now. I havent seen hotdog carts. Just food trucks. I hope he still sells hotdogs there. After this corona virus crab
Most vendors are doing even better with Covid than ever before. With restaurants closed, many are making a killing.
@@BensCarts Awesome. Food trucks are well stablished here in Florida. Same with side of the road, Smokers. Selling ribs, pork shops and so on. I havent Crossed myself with hotdog carts in my area ( Florida ). The City of Tampa
@@BensCartsBens, Do you know if here in Florida, like Tampa area, if we have hotdog vendors. I know pork chops, tacos, ribs sellers.. Are.common here. But i figure that hotdog carts could also be a profitable business. But personally,, i have not seeing a cart. Since you have yrs of experience, and you probably have met tons of vendors. Would you please share or make content about Florida.
Nice set up.
Thanks for saying so... he checks in here sometimes.
Dude be working his A** off 👍🏽👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
💯
I love his cart
I want one like it
what brand of hot dog do you use?
This is exactly the setup I would like when I get going.. QUESTION:: The shelf above the steam table that his condiments are setting on,, did he install that himself, or did it come with it ?? Awesome setup..
Very informative, thanks a bunch!❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's 10 am on Sunday and now I want a hot dog!
This helps me a lot thank guys
Me too, I've almost got my cart done. My wife and I are ready to get out there and vend.
Congratulations!
Happy to hear that. :)
sgtpepper1138 was you able to find auto insurance for the cart or do we not need it.. any advice would help me please
that looks great I wish they had that in the Netherlands looks fresh and delicious
Do it in the Netherlands.
Omg!!!! Grew up in a Red Neck town like this !!! But he looks like he is a great w the customers,!!!!💪
What cart is he using? What heat level does he keep the grill set at?
looks good. Oh yeah at O'reilly's parking lot. Best spare parts ever. A dough holler....for me two reg hotdog with yellow mustard and a bradwurst with onion and mustard and a reg coke (can) . thank you. Tssss.....Yes nice Jeep. Lays . That Mainstreet shop you mean hey.
Why only wear one glove?
I love this it makes me excited to get started I'm waiting on my cart to be shipped
Thanks Lacey!
Can you have the stainless steel grill in Los Angeles, CA and where do most people store their cart at? Could my Kia Soul tow the cart? I want a hot dog cart so bad.
Skyline chili is the best for hot dog chili, but it is crazy expensive! What does everyone use?
I guess I'm gong to have to come check out this amazing looking hot dog cart now LOL!
You so should... lol
@@BensCarts This is just awesome. That Cart is amazing! It reminds me of the King Of The Hill episode where Hank and Kahn build their own deluxe propane grill lol!
Wow he's making money in such a short amount of time.
I tried those makers mark beef dogs. They are tasteless. Sam's in my area is not cheap. I get 5/1
24 dogs for the same price as 7/1at Sam's, at restaurant depot. And I dont have to pay them a hundred bucks a year. Restaurant depot is amazing. They have prime beef there too.
I ran into a guy that shops for high end restaurants. Super nice guy he took me all over the depot showing different things. He gave me an idea. Bbq pork with bbq beans. Like frank n beans. And black beans and rice.
That's why we jack that dirty water up with flavor. It allows you to create your own flavor and a unique experience they can't get elsewhere.
It helps when your tall to reach over the condiments to have access to the rest of the cart. Is he reaching into a built in fridge?
Great Job Guys !!!
does he grill or boil he's brats and if so does anyone know of a good precooked brat or hot link sausage that can be boiled ? your info would be greatly appreciated thanks.
Where did you find your tent? Perfect size for the street!

Come to Charlotte NC please

Dude is steady busy. Man I really want to do this..
Do it! learnhotdogs.com/start
@@BensCarts I sure will. After this whole virus thing it's over I will pull the trigger on it. I'm not sure if I want to do lemonade alone to start or just go and get the big dog cart. Right now me and my son are riding down plans. Goals. Coming up with places that we want to go and talk to. We live in a small town. And they don't allow fast food. So I need to talk to them to see if we can do it in town at all. But we will do it other places too no. But the local football game would be ideal. I recently had my leg amputated so I can't get around as much. So my son will be doing most of the work. Not sure exactly how much I can contribute to you. Taking money and having him supplies as he does the majority of the cooking might be the way to go. We live in Washington state and it seems hard to find out what are the requirements before having a hot dog cart. But I will have to just call them
great video very helpful
Thank you!
I like seeing these hot dog cart videos. Just seeing the variation of people doing something seemingly the same thing.
Where I live there were some hot dog vendors, cash only of course. Something I see in successful carts is people doing their own fresh home made stuff and bringing it but the seller near my area used all pre packaged from the store. And in around the same year as this video they charged around 4 times the price of this gentleman while doing notably less work. They are not around anymore.
I own a store myself in something that seems simple on the surface but I see how others in "bigger" areas do stuff and it makes me facepalm.
😊
What kind/name is that condiment set-up he has? Looks pretty nifty. Is there ice inside of it?
Looks like he could get trucks in there too
Hi Ben, is there anyway we can get more videos of Alex? He’s my favorite vendor you featured on this channel.
Alex is in the process of moving to Florida.
How’d he get that top shelf attached, real handy!
I’m in Puerto Rico and want the insten setup in wanesboro, waiting for $$
I used to work at conmet
How is he steaming those buns before grilling them? Thanks!

I'll do a video on this in the next day or two. :) great subject.

Whats the self that he's got his condiments up on is that just standard with the flip over steel case over or is it an extra tab of metal sticking out?

How much cost to buy same set?

So are you still in the hot dog business.
How about the slaw
I live in Townsend, Tn. and would love to do this here! I have alot of experience waiting tables and love to cook. How much would it cost to start one?
It's anywhere from $2 to $5k usually. It can be done for less but here's a breakdown: learnhotdogs.com/how-to-start-a-hot-dog-cart-business-2/
.
is frank and steins still slinggin dogs , cant find them.
God bless. Ben, how is this guy able to do lemonade and bbq on a hotdog cart in NC? Can you help me understand?
Howdy, depends on your inspector. Some allow it. Some in NC are able to do all sorts of stuff from a cart. One near Charlotte does sloppy joes and hamburgers from a Cater Pro.
@@BensCarts Thnx for replying, Ben. Yeah, as I read over and over these N.C. guidelines, it does seem much would be left to the interpretation of the inspector. I’m about 58% of the way through building my cart here in N.C. Plan to vend out of Charlotte area primarily. I’m curious to know your suggestions on some specific verbiage I might use to approach my inspector if I want to do BBQ and slaw on my hot dog cart. Is there a way for me to contact you and the Frank and Steinz owner to brainstorm with y’all potentially?
Oh yeah im going with drone delivery myself
We'll beat Amazon to the drone deliveries.... lol That'd be awesome.
