Yamaha are onto something. Back to rawness, no bells and whistles. I went from a bike with rider modes, traction control and all that jazz, only to do a full 180 and ride a bike with a carburettor! Motorcycle soul has gotten off track and this bike seems like it's ignoring the trend. Good for Yamaha.
This would have been the bike for 'Long Way Round', Charlie. Just needs Bike Seal in the inner tubes. I did southern Europe from England four times on an XT500 in the '80s. Nick J
Just hit 10,000 miles on mine and it's been so awesome. I had a 1200cc ADV bike before and was worried about going down to a 700 because of couple of longer trips I'll do per year.. It's been fantastic with a couple of mods, and it's 150lbs lighter ☝️

@@motonomad4900 None with the MadStad. I have the 16" shield and the 18" shield. I use the 16" in the shortest position and at 5'7" don't have any buffeting. I did remove it though because I don't love how it looks.
Did a 3200 km ride to Lofoten in northern parts of Norway this summer and it was surprisingly comfy despite 500-700 km rides a day. On twisty roads it is just awesome. Very low fuel consumption also so 16 litre of fuel is not an issue. My friend had a GS 1250 and we had to refuel at the same time.
I have the T7 sind this year and I love it. Was in the woods nearby and the biggest problems were not the bike but the rider itself. I really need some more experience. I changed the seat and the rear spring and that was a nice improvement. Here and there some little things things changed and I even rode to France this year. I wanted to explore the alps, but because of bad luck I needed to return to home sooner.
I appreciate the review, but I will quibble. The Tenere 700 is great for big distances. I just got back from a 3,400 mile trip on mine with a couple 600 mile days and the Tenere handled it nicely. It handled all my camping gear for an 11 day trip and was great on road and off.
That’s a long day in the saddle for me. Haha. I’m generally done after 60-80 miles on my drz. I can’t wait to try the T700. It seems like the perfect middle ground. I’m hoping it is comfy enough to get me over the mountains at 75-80 mpg.
I have the World Raid for a year now. Love it to bits and not thinking of changing it. Couple of things: Yamaha Ride App is absolutely useless; yes it'll track your ride but everything else is very buggy. I have been from TET to Autobahn on it and it handles everything you throw at it with no problem, 10-12 hour days are easy. Brilliant bike. Now if Yamaha sticks a ride-by-wire with cruise control, and/or stick the CP3 in the Tenere frame, that'll be awesome.
How does it handle in the wind and in the rain? ... The key statement here is, if you don't want to ride far, this bike may be for you. Yeah, tube tires too.

This is really a brilliant bike - I have test ridden both the 'street' version and the upgraded Rallye one - the latter one was way better, more comfortable seating, they have a special grip with couple of protruding lines on it - so you can handle the throttle much easier than with the standard grip. Nice review Charley, you're such a cool guy - been your fan since your Long Way series...

Positives: It handles GREAT off road, simple electronics to avoid complicated maintenance problems way from home, easy access to air filter, great wide band power, not too loud, good front suspension, good choice of wheel sizes, low weight for its size. Negatives: very top heavy, hard to pick up compared to other mid size bikes, for me anyway- tube wheels, weak rear suspension, small gas tank, seat too high for many people- could have made it adjustable, spark plugs and valves difficult to access, inadequate skid plate. I feel things like the thin skid plate and undersized gas tank were only done to reduce advertised weight. I fixed some of these issues. I rented a Tenere 700 for a few days last year. I loved the engine, but did not like a couple things about it. It is rather top heavy, and the suspension was harsh. The seat height was also too high for me. At the end of a few days of riding it, I decided not to buy one.
Hi Charley, how long do you ride the Tenere 700 now? Talk about your journeys with the T7, not about the Marketing/Media Guidelines. Talk less, RIDE MORE! peace Anton
Thank you for making this excellent video Anyone interested in that motorcycle will be helped a great deal All happiness to you and your family I hope you enjoy every day Take Care my Friend
Love the look of all the Tenere variants, but really wish it had traction control that could be turned off! I think on the road traction control is as important as abs and should be mandatory on all bikes sold for road.
I have never understood the hype really. T7 feels very weird to me, coming from xtz 660 and good ol' BMW R1150GS. I have ridden a T7 about 4 days in total, very little power on the road, very weird handling off the road (cog, height). I also dont get the fuss about not having sensors, theres not many electric components that leave you completely strranded when malfunctioning. T7 is too expensive for what it is really. Does anybody feel the same?
I do man.i think its this that dakar style that most like.which on road is useless.i test rode the white one the rally, and i was a little dissapointed.not much power, awfull wind noise over 100,very tall feeling, too forward handlebars.i dont know,i wanted to like it more.i m not a harcore off road guy.i just want to have the ability to pass a dirt road if it needs.i think i ll go for the transalp 750,or vstrom800.what about you?
Charley !!! ... - future is in lite adventure / dual sport bikes...... did you just wake up now ? T 7 is getting old by now. There are many new rally bikes ( ideal adventure / dual sport ) for decent price on the market now. You should forget big bike manufacturers which had robbed us for a long time now, and never listened for what bikers really want. Check AJP PR 7, Kove 450 rally , Hero 450 rally , and many more Italian dual sports and rally replicas for quite a reasonable price.....

What website is that? I want to configure my bike with that software
Charley boorman !

How’s the bike on long trips how’s the seat?
I rented a Tenere 700 for a few days last year. I loved the engine, but did not like a couple things about it. It is rather top heavy, and the suspension was harsh. The seat height was also too high for me. At the end of a few days of riding it, I decided not to buy one.
what camera do you use for youtube?
Can you do a TransAlp and a Touareg 660?
Very good video, thanks!
But if you crash the bike and bend the subframe the bikes a rightoff cos its welded to frame and cant be changed like on ktm adventure bikes
Hey Charly, well done!!
Charley's Boorman 👍🏼
Cracking bikes for the money, really capable on and off the tarmac 👍🏼
Hi Charley, how long do you ride the Tenere 700 now? Talk about your journeys with the T7, not about the Marketing/Media Guidelines. Talk less, RIDE MORE!
peace Anton
Beautiful stuff
How tf did I not know Charley had a yt channel
Thank you for making this excellent video
Anyone interested in that motorcycle will be helped a great deal
All happiness to you and your family
I hope you enjoy every day
Take Care my Friend
Yamaha are a very good product, you get your money's worth when you buy one, quality.
Great video.
8:50 ... that looks familiar ... it's, it's, it's, I know, it's, it's the Emerald Forest!!!
I love you Charlie lad but this isn’t a review it’s a commercial - regardless I wanna buy a T7 anyways lol
Cool vid. Love my t7. I take it you aren't on BMW's payroll anymore...
🤣
Love the look of all the Tenere variants, but really wish it had traction control that could be turned off!
I think on the road traction control is as important as abs and should be mandatory on all bikes sold for road.
Absolutely not. Traction control shouldn't be mandatory. Let the consumer decide what features they want not government.
Now just one problem where do i get one?!!!😡
This bike is a good choice, but... If you're less than 175cm tall, you need some little dirt bikes skills or instrad look for another option
If they got rid of the ABS and other silly electronics junk then I'd pay even more...
What's ironic about that is that I am a mechatronics engineer.
You can get a old model with the LCD dash and a ABS delete kit, I just removed the abs fuse on mine.
I'd go with new Honda Transalp
