    As an English teacher, I can attest that there is nothing like a good book to help you take your English up a level. I am not familiar with most of these texts, probably because I am in the U.S. I use the Grammar in Context series and Grammar Explorer series and love them both for grammar. Grammar and Beyond 4 is excellent for advanced learners who want to improve their writing.

    English File starts from Beginner level, not from Elementary:)
    I try and study English with this book. It's very good but it has some little mistakes especially in tests. The mistakes are in Pronunciation keys (incorrect answers to tasks on a stressed syllable). I don't know why... I bought this book in a licensed store in Moscow. Nevertheless, it isn't a problem. These books (Teacher's Book, Student's Book, and Workbook) are impressive. I have no cause to complain, because I found those mistakes by myself:)
    (From Russia with love (not war))

    • @The-English-Professor
      @The-English-Professor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good comment Sir. I find the difference between Beginner and Elementary to be negligible so I feel the Elementary book is suitable for most students to start with. I am not aware of any mistakes with stressed syllables due to the fact that I always ensure that my students are pronouncing words accurately. There can sometimes be a difference in stress from one accent to another too. I think your English must be very good so I don't think for you it's a problem! 😊 David

      By the way Russians do mistakes in their home language😅 They wonder why this syllable is stressed and not that one! Because they get used to an incorrect emphasis😄 It's almost like "garage" in English, I think... There are three different ways for pronouncing as I remember...
      (Sorry for my English, I just study😁)

    Here's the problem: you can read all the books you want and learn all the words, but if you can't pronounce them, it's not good enough. No pronunciation books are mentioned. Why? BECAUSE IT'S HARD! IT'S NOT FUN! You've gotta add 'English Pronunciation in Use' by Jonathan Marks. It's an invaluable teaching aid and pivotal to learning IPA and pronunciation.

    • @The-English-Professor
      @The-English-Professor  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Russel ( or is it Scott? ), you are right in saying this however, these days we have the internet, which helps people immensely with pronunciation accuracy, don't you agree? You can google a word and listen to how it should be pronounced both in a British and an American accent. Apart from that most dictionaries and some text books use the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) for those people who know it. Thanks you comment - you sound like a wise person, David

    • @russellscott1064
      @russellscott1064 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, there are indeed numerous resources out there, to be sure. I appreciate "Pronunciation in Use" because it not only teaches IPA, but also allows you to work one-on-one with the student to practice all the sounds. I believe it's crucial to engage in this personal, one-on-one pronunciation practice rather than relying solely on online resources. This approach ensures that students not only hear but also understand the mechanics of how sounds are made. A significant issue with many pronunciation exercises is that students may hear the sounds but don't understand the mechanics of how the sounds are made. I specialize in teaching Vietnamese students, who particularly need this resource since many of the sounds in English are not used in Vietnamese.
      I agree that "Ready for First" and "Ready for Advanced" are excellent books.
      "Grammar in Use" is great; however, I teach the book in a different order because I feel starting with the present perfect and present continuous is somewhat advanced for my methodology. "Vocabulary in Use" is also excellent.
      The books you've mentioned are indeed superb.
