I took a break for 6 months and started uploading again and I got 4 subscribers in two weeks. I got the subscribers from social media. I recommend getting traffic from social media or TH-cam shorts.
Im literally in the same situation, only difference is that i got addicted to editing after 3 years.
I am a publishing fool right now because my activity dropped dramatically when I stopped publishing. Hopefull it won't work against me.

When I started my TH-cam Journey 6 months ago I thought it's going to be way harder to reach the 1k followers than the 4k watch time. I'm at 760 Followers right now and 1k watch time. The live compilation idea seems great. I have literally hundreds of hours of content, I could probably set up a 24/7 livestream with all of my “best of” replays running. And I’d be able to be in chat a lot during the day as well, to interact with people. Really intriguing idea tbh

2:20 this might help with desktop viewers but for most channels the majority of the viewers are on mobile and then on TV, the playlist won't show up like that but still it's better than nothing IF someone clicks on the playlist instead of a singular video which in itself has a lower chance...!
True, but there are still lots of viewers who aren't on TV. And it's not like doing this will negatively impact those TV viewers' experiences, most of them won't even see the links
@@Marcus-Jones yeah that's right, it can also be more positive for some types of content, like a series of videos back to back that some people wanna see them as a package(playlist) , smth like playthroughs
my main point is that creators shouldn't expect to get a TON more views if they can't get any views on singular videos, playlists are useful when at least one of the videos in that playlist has alot of traction making people watch the others in the playlist, if that's the case I'd put the playlist in cards, description and even at the end of the video
i usually watch yt on my tv, and im pretty sure there are playlists

Feeling so demoralized. YT just took away 70 views and with them the watch time. I did nothing sketchy and do not believe some random bots checked in on my videos. I am completely new here. Just 3 weeks. So I do not believe bots would even knowing I am here. So I have no explanation but to go from 183 to113 is depressing me.

Lotta good information here. A lot of misinformation here as well. “Valid Public Watch Hours” to get into the TH-cam Partner Program does NOT count watch time from viewership while live. Only after the stream ends and a viewer chooses to watch the now finished stream. That viewers watch time will count as valid public watch time.

I have a fitness channel with classes - generally, people aren’t doing class after class. The goal isn’t really to get people to do multiple classes. Also, often people will watch the first couple of minutes to get a feel for the workout but aren’t ready to do it, yet. I worry this messes up what the algorithm thinks about my content because people preview & leave. Having a hard time finding marketing content for this slightly different aim
Marcus, there's another less known and more... anomalistic way, of getting the required watchtime. Have TH-cam surface your content to a bunch of hungry viewers regarding one topic that is very seasonal. I know it's an edge-case, but this happened to me. I somehow got over 1100 subs and over 11k watch-hours in under a month. Now I know this is by no means a viral case, but it's definitely an edge-case where TH-cam actually wanted the channel to succeed, and here's the kicker - it was through *one video* only. I'm still getting more watchtime and more subs right now but it's levelling off a bit. But this experience was full legit, and totally surprising, and I've been answering tons of Q's from my new subs. and now I'm monetised.
Started last week with a channel about cars and which trim is the best bang for your buck for different car models. Have 10 subs! Good luck to everyone!
