Great take on this Simon. I, like you had the immediate reaction of "No F'n way" cue belly laugh. But after talking to some people came around to "Yeah this might possible with not the greatest QC. Which a product like this does not need TBF, it just need decent QC. The implications if this is real will definitely change the hobby in big ways, not for us who have been around for awhile, but with newbies. Which can only be a good thing. So fingers crossed this is real & comes out decent. It would do a lot of good for the hobby IMHO. Looking forward to your review after you get the protos!
Of what's already on the market right now (including shipping), there's a similar prebuilt 75% for 100, barebones Alice for 100, and prebuilt numpad for 50-60. That's 250 SHIPPED, with 104 of the 500 switch count, and a cap set that wouldn't be included with this trio bundle. I would also assume the Kyubi set DOESN'T include shipping, so the total price of this set is likely $270-290, and you still have to consider the efficiency of packaging and shipping 1 box of everything vs thinking of them as 8 individual products. This could still be a total hoax, but I see no reason why it can't actually be real (until they maybe were to show samples with an absurdly high level of quality, as currently that is unaccounted for and said flexibility is what would make it possible).
Honestly if it is coming from an east Asian country and a first time gb they are probably having them cast in a small scale metal factory. They will have a blank of the keyboards and then cast them in sand molds. 30k is probably just the cost for finishing.
If it's too good to be true, then it's most likely an exit scam. If they somehow ship it, then I guarantee it will have software/firmware issue, quality control issue and it will be made of cheap aluminum or alloy, which will likely produce a hollow/tinny sound from the cheap material.
@@hatefulconduct I think the tented alice alone is worth the price just for the sake of having a cheaper Type K alternative. Alice boards traditionally cost more because they just require more material to CNC, and the tented part would normally add more. But since its being cast that saves a lot on cost, and a more ergonomic alice layout is available for very cheap. The 75 and numpad are probably gonna be given away or sold for cheap by most people tho lol
I've seen WEIKAV (chinese brand) put out CNCd and Anodized boards for just a bit over 50 bucks, so this kit might not be a fever dream. This sht's the renaissance.
The QC is absolutely horrendous though. I tried two of their kits and the 65% came with scratches out of the box, and the Alice had a super rough finish that felt like it was spray painted. While this COULD be real, the final product would need a lot of work and maybe a fresh batch of Cerakote.
“Okay” *teeth suck *mouth noise “so..” [insert group buy jargon] *brag about credentials but don’t actually list credentials under the guise of an “NDA” for yet another cherry clone most likely. *more mouth noises and teeth sucking….dude I’m 5 mins in the video and don’t know a shred about this board other than what I already knew by glancing at the thumbnail. To-to-to-today juinior.
Simon, this is a positive comment. I want you to look to your comments and smile instead of be sad, because of negative whiny TH-cam people. Keep screaming at keyboards. We love you.
cost of living going up, cost of keyboards coming down. balance.

It can't be real, can it!?!.... Because of the implication.
Guess I'll start saying "get kyubi'd" instead of "get cycled"
That IC looks like it came from the dream with a 39° temperature

I mean, there are already full cnc alu hotswap 65% kits with knobs and stabs for 40$ instock on taobao, so... maybe?
Kit names?

@@hansennoah1 Sugar65 is one of them if I'm not mistaken. The downside is there's no VIA compatibility.
Cool, thanks for following up on this one and taking a look in the future. Will look forward to it.

Don’t worry I’ll join the GB for science!
Cycle7 delayed, Cycle8 IC on zfrontier and now this, stahp stealing my money.
Omg I just saw the cycle8 on there and all I gotta say is WOW it looks amazing
Thank you for uploading videos Simon, keep it up :)
You make a good case. It will be interesting to watch. 🍿🍿🍿🍿

Hey Simon, what was the build you were typing on this video? Sounded great haha!
It's the luminkey80
It'll be my next review
@@Blacksimon can't wait! Always love your content and in-depth explanations!
This is some wild stuff, fair skepticism in the GH comments, very very interested to see this really exists and absolutely slaughters the market
Well, it's true. I just joined the gb. 1599rmb, what a deal
Hey bro, what’s your daily driver board?
I rotate boards a lot, but I'm using the luminkey80 in this video
I briefly hold it up in the video, it's pretty cute
ur cute bae
A 50$ cnc 75% and a 60$ Alice had already exist, and Huano actually have dirt cheap switches, Bsun Guyu is just 25 cent, so maybe they went that way
Can't wait if you actually get the prototype :D brave gb runner if he really does it.
Nice vid mate
People that bought the type k: D……:
if this is legit, I guess I'm back into buying keyboards
I mean it’s great for someone with no keyboards but does anyone with a dozen high end boards really need three budget keebs?

Simon did your camera get an upgrade? It's alot sharper now
A while back yes, upgraded from a 9 year old camera to something new and fancy!
This looks like a type-k by gok.
What makes me sad that there probably won’t be any iso support

We watch all the simone video
Actually making pc plate at 5-7$ is possible in china
why are you ignoring the possibilitty that this is a complete scam?
