B18B1 Engine Disassembly & Cleaning of internals | Integra Auto to Manual swap | Prep for Assembly
The first time lapse is the disassembly of my b18b1 engine with 168k. Unfortunately the cam caps were stubborn and I didn't realize my camera died so I didn't get as much as I wanted to for the disassembly. I'll make sure to have detailed assembly video in the future.
While the block is at the machine shop and I wait for the pistons and rods I make sure to clean everything that is going to be used in the rebuild. there are lots of ways to do this using hot tanks, chemical baths, and other methods. Since I'm on a budget this is how I did it. It was time consuming but the results were worth it. Overall, I spent 6-8 hours cleaning the components of the head, camshaft, windage tray, oil pick up, and other various parts and bolts.
I also compare the water pump and notice something a little different that may give me insight into the engines life before I had it. The next few months I will be saving as much as possible to finish the engine work and complete the auto to manual swap but this is a long and expensive journey. With that said be ready for side projects to pass the time!
