Yes!! We are almost done with the third one and I figured we would move to chapter books. But she wants the next one so we are going to keep a good thing going 🙂
We used both SCM Arithmetic book 1 and RightStart A side by side and while the two programs are very different, I did appreciate being able to change things up. (We didn’t do much of the “1 ten 2” type of counting that RightStart teaches bc it was too different from SCM) SCM Arithmetic felt really useful in all of the addition it taught and we ended up using the RightStart abicus with the SCM arithmetic. The arithmetic felt more challenging which I appreciated and the RightStart had all the fun games, so it worked pretty well. We did end up getting tired of the monotony with SCM Arithmetic and put it down about 3/4 thru. But overall, I’m really happy with the addition facts she learned. I hope you decide on something that feels right!
Oh that is so good to know, thank you for sharing! I do use all the Rightstart manipulatives and we have the game book for reference. We love the abacus! Same here with the counting.
I'm almost done with my first year with the CMEC, 2 weeks to go!! Thanks for your video, I also left a few books out but for me it was natural history. I'll definitely plan for more nature walks this coming year and maybe get some butterflies and ants, haha.
We use math u see. It’s been really great. We can go at our own pace. We can do it orally or I can scribe when they are younger. You just do what you need to and move on. There are smaller concepts woven throughout so you’re getting it all, it’s just at different times than a spiral approach. You might try life with Fred. It’s so fun and hilarious. My kids enjoy it. I enjoy having more than one math.
We love that aesops fables book. Great resources. Thanks for sharing. Just subscribed! I also have a channel and would love to be friends and connect. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
It was a collection of biographies. I can't share everything exactly per our program agreement with the CMEC. I know other families enjoyed the selection. Lots out there to try!
Ohhh okay! My form 1 kids are enjoying island story. We listen to some of it through audiobook and other times at home. It took a little while for them to get engaged but it’s been really fun learning about British history together. I also have a form 2 so we do that, the hollings books and The william Bennett america book together. Lots of beautiful illustrations. We follow more ambleside and a mix of a gentle feast picture books for American history and that has been great! I hope you find what fits your family! So many choices out there. You might like beautiful feet too. I had to break up readings in chunks and do stop for small narrations and that has helped build their stamina.
@@intentionallymade I love that! Yes, we are pulling mostly from AO this year and then leftover CMEC recs along with books I noted throughout the year last year :) Thank you for the encouragement!
@@intentionallymade I love that! We are primarily using AO this year with some CMEC recs we didn't finish, along with books I had noted throughout the year last year. Thank you for the encouragement! We are excited to do Paddle to the Sea this year and I'm sure we will do Our Island Story in the next few years :)
My 1st grader also loved the Pathway readers and said they were her favorite thing out of everything we did this year.
