Vintage will always rule the hobby this generation has been influenced into buying the same players over and over. Like how many 2024 variations of Wemby Ohtani and Judge do you need. The real scammers are the influencers and the monopoly card company.
But I agree, boxes being over $1K is stupid... it's what driving up salaries of sports stars and, sadly, shows how much we value entertainment over sciences etc which help humanity.
Every business is literally supply vs demand. They weren't giving cards away in 2014 or whenever. They were cheaper, but they still carried value. Now there hundreds of thousands of more eyes on them. And they went up! Youre betting on the market to stay dumb and get worn out. Im betting on the market to get educated. When they do, then they will seek out scarcity.
You must not have been a collector when the late 90s boom ended. All the noobs that flock in during a boom dont "get smarter", they leave. The covid boom been rolling for years but is coming to an end.
@johnwayne9828 i collected from 89 to 2003. The difference now is access to information. I'm in probably 50 Facebook groups and I am still seeing new entrants constantly, and a lot of curiosity around learning new sets.

I have to disagree with this video, Sports Card have been around for 130 years along with the industry it has survived several financial crashes and 2 world wars, and the list goes on. The other products you mentioned have been around for far less time. NFTS BITCOIN? new industry and products.

Sure theyve been around forever, but the prices people are paying now is unsustainable. Cards have never been this high, and once the bottom falls out like it has after the 2 booms I've seen in 30+ years as a collector, theyll likely never be this high again. Theyll still be there like before, just back to pennies on the dollar compared to right now.
@@johnwayne9828 The Card Market is somewhat tied to the US Economy and Stock Market which are at ATH, when that Crash happens let me know where I can pick up 52 Mantles for pennies on the dollar, I'll even rent out a bus to load the bus up :) The Point is no one can predict the economy not even the greatest stock trader Warren Buffet or Economists at the Fed can forecast more than 3 months. This video reminds me of all the TH-camrs in the finance space making videos every day and screaming the stock market is crashing today. Hey, every broken clock is right once in a while.

I hate what these big companies are doing to the market. But i really disagree on many points. There are a lot of fly by night collectors, but there is a very stable base for established players and pre 2017 cards. There are many good places to put your money in the hobby. And i have nothing to sell. I am a buyer though.
