    Yes there are a few steps left out: 1. The arm support needs a 20 degree cut on one end. 2. Both back legs both need a 20 degree cut at the top and bottom. 3. The 20 degree cut on the arm support lines up with the 20 degree cut on top of the back legs which makes the slant on the back legs but provides a level surface for the arm rests. 4. Make a 35 degree cut on one end of the stringers and a 20 degree cut on the other end. 5. Line you square on the 20 degree side of the stringer and slide it down until the 20 degree angel until the two inch mark on your square reaches the edge of the stringer. This is so that the first seat slat can sit flat at the front of the chair. I hope that helps. Wish I could provide pictures.

      Can you make an even more detailed video and upload??? I need to build these

    The plan worked well for me, and the explanation of the cuts and build process is sufficient, despite some comments here indicating otherwise. There are a few details left out, but they can be generally grasped from the video (e.g. exactly where to attach the back supports to the back slats). Instead of 1x4 slats, I bought 5/4x6 cedar deck boards and ripped them into 5/4x3s, using 7 instead of 5 slats for both the seat and the back. Deck boards cost almost the same as the 1x4s, but ripping them in half doubles the material, and I used a whole deck board to make a wider arm rest. Those who are wondering about the two-inch length on the stringer: take a rafter square and hold it against the stringer. Slide it up or down until the 90-degree side of the square meets the bottom of the stringer at the 2 inch mark on the square (see minute 1:30). Good build.

      Still it would be nice if you didn’t have to stop every few steps and figure out the instructions

    I built this chair over a weekend with recycled pressure treated deck boards and 2x4s from when I rebuilt my floating dock. His explanation of the cuts and build process is pretty terrible, but once you decipher everything, the chair goes together pretty nicely. The chair itself is stout, but isn't all that comfortable by itself. Add a pillow or 2 and it's really quite nice! This was a zero dollar project and I'm happy with the results.

    We received this in the mail today! The packaging was fine, no damage during shipping thank goodness! The construction was very simple th-cam.com/users/postUgkxXH3jIpsn6vpr3D26KWAriUejh7CSxVp7 , the bottom rocking part and the ottoman were already put together for us which is nice!As for the actual quality, the wood seems fine.. Not too cheap but maybe not the quality you would find in a store for 400$. However, it is still sturdy and feels secure. I've only had it for one night, so of course no squeaking yet.. But if it does squeak it could be easily oiled. The cushions are comfy, and made of a suede like material. Obviously with time these cushions will probably wear and tear.. But for the price of the chair it is still worth it just to go out and buy new cushions that fit in the future.Overall I am very satisfied, I was a little worried after reading some reviews and looking through the photos, but I'm happy I bought it! Obviously it's not a heavy-duty chair, but with care I'm hoping it will last a while.

    What does it mean cut the two inch length on the end of the stringer ? How do I find that angle

    what does "find the 2 inch length" on the stringer mean?

    If any neighbors are throwing out palettes that will get you most of the way there.

    To kill some time I was making a few models in Sketch up. It seems that this video has very bad angle cut descriptions. The seat seems to be kinda large and at an overtly large angle.

    Is it possible to make an Adirondack chair out of marine grade laminated wood? Where I live it is almost impossible to find suitable natural wood but I do have access to laminate, and it would also be MUCH cheaper. Can I use 3/4" sheets cut to size and thoroughly painted?

    • @joshb4286
      @joshb4286 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean you could.....but you can turn cheap "unusable" wood into stuff like this with some sanding..... sanding is a pain though so I don't blame anyone that would rather not

    Just built this. The "instrucrtions" for the back support and the way that goes together is stupid!
    Currently looking for a similar plan for a chair with geometry that is not for a 200lb man. Seat length is too deep for an average woman or teenager which out number the one man in the household 4 to 1. Can we build things for average people that don't cut you at the back of the legs?

    This is a terrible plan/instruction. The website is wrong (15 degree cut vs 1 degree cut) and there is no explanation for certain steps on either the video or website. Save your frustration and wood and find a different plan.

    Directions are not clear, and a few steps are skipped. Materials list includes an extra 1 by 4 by 8. Home Depot also wants your to buy a tub just to use for drawing an arc. Actual chair is sturdy and comfortable.

    Step 1 : don't buy any of that warped-ass Home Depot Lumber.
    Step 2 : watch This Old House or Stumpy Nubs or somebody who knows what the hell they're doing.
