💬Plot summary:
Fan Xian grew up in a small town by the sea with his grandmother, following a sudden visit of a poison master, his peaceful life quickly morph into one filled with danger and hardship. Im a few years late but still enjoy this masterpiece. The lore is so good, something ive never seen in Chinese drama. mixture of historical / costume drama and sci fi fabricated together perfectly.
Fan Xian really scared me by making that bet with the archer lol. But I love how he stuck up for Ruoruo, she's my favorite female character!!!! She's smart, brave and does her best in helping her brother. I'm glad she's not the stereotypical female character that's helpless and dumb. Honestly all these characters are really great! Both protagonists and antagonists.
Fan Ruoruo will be beyond all grand masters at the end of the story

When the title is Joy of life, I really hesitated as I always prefer historical/suspense drama. I didn't realize it means joy of MY own life. I have so much joy watching this series since eps 1 with that little funny kid.
hahaha yes the little boy. captured Fan Xian's personality just as well as Zhang does.
I also got to know the meaning of the title as i continued watching it from the beginning

There are a lot of story like this. Many speculate that Game of Thrones could be a scify since GRRM is also a scify writer. A step into the past could bet consider as scify and historical fiction. There is one story that sort of a mold of Lord of the Rings that also have elves and dwarves and what not. But instead it is set in the future with some sort of apocalypse had happen. And humans mutated into these races. Sometimes within that story trace of a more modern past appear all over the places.
There is a saying that we don't know which weapons we will use in ww3, but we will fought with sticks and stones in ww4.

From what I got, FX and his mom is not from the future. The era/world/time that they’re living rn is the future. FX and his mom is from the past, but when the ice age happened human civilization got wiped out.
Life gets restart from 0 again, eventually evolved to this era. However, FX’s mom and others were “sleeping in the ice” until it got melted so some did get out. They still have the memories and technology from before the ice age happened.
I had to watch a dubbed version to find that out as this Eng sub is "difficult" to follow sometimes.
So basically as the human civ was dying out due to the Global Freezing, the mother froze herself (a la Judge Dredd--Stallone) and then woke up 100,000 years in the future (our own last Ice Age lasted about that long). Ofc a few humans survived, going thru caveman -> hunter gatherer -> farming -> current Feudal age.
Another confusion comes from FX himself during the "poetry" banquet: he seems to imply that his poems came from future ("as long as your teacher is not surnamed Du").

I notice sometimes the name change a lot. But for people not in the know. Nan is south. Qing is locate in the South. So sometimes in the show they called it Qing, Great Qing, or Nanqing. Yi is in the east (the way people carry sword similar to Japan, which happened to be the east of China). Dong is East. So sometimes in the show they called it Eastern Yi, or Dongyi, or Yi. Of course, the other country is Northern Qi. Bei is north I think, which is why sometimes in this show it is called Beiqi. So far, I think only these 3 countries are mentioned.

Now with the letters and what it seems a gun rifle in the case, he is going to investigate the rest. So, how many people wake up already? is the Emperor one of them? He seems to know while Fan Xian was speaking about the fairyland, the other world like "OMG, I know what you are saying, and not just that, you are just like your mother", but then nothing, so I don´t know. Really good drama, very smart

What if those people aren't really the ancient people just very many years to come people where they stretched technology to the point of almost destroying the world and now they are forced to live like the ancient and while living, they have two different consciousness in one body, one where they were in modern world and another where they are in the current world, the only problem is that some people haven't actually woken up like fan xian and his mom,.. But I don't know, it's just my imagination, but one thing I'm sure of is Uncle Wu Zhu must come from the same place fan xian and his mom come from and also another issue, what kind of martial arts is fan xian learning if it's not known by the people and why haven't we seen the real fantastic moves of the arts coz I'm sure there's a reason his mom wanted him to learn that specific type of martial arts

This episode is a bomb
So, his mother is from the past, which was frozen and was modern age with all techologies. Then ice melt and few people survived, amoung them was his mother. While they were in the ice, centuries were passing and new civilasation were built. They started memory experiments and only fan xian was a succes. So he was born in this time and remember the past.
