💬Plot summary:
Fan Xian grew up in a small town by the sea with his grandmother, following a sudden visit of a poison master, his peaceful life quickly morph into one filled with danger and hardship. I'm glad the female lead is getting a personality at lazt and that she's more involved in the plot.
We're more than half-way into this story so it's about time we had more female heroines (after all his mom is dead, right?). Other than that everything we could ask for plenty of humor, suspense and evil-doing here.
She's so bright all of a sudden, love it.

I can't say enough good words about my experience watching this series. I feel like it's schooling me in ways I had no idea I needed to be or could be. I can't stop raving about it inside my own head because there's not a single person around me who would understand if I tried to explain just how rich and subtle and complex the essence of this show is. I feel like I've gone off into the realm they are living it and I don't want to ever leave. More than entertainment.

That’s why this drama is considered one of the MUST have to watch drama ever because it has a great story the flows perfectly from one episode to the next good script great casting and very little if no fillers at all there’s romance but it doesn’t overlay the real story

No wonder fang Xian’s mother wanted everyone to be equal. Royal affairs made family members betray each other for survival. And revenge can turn into a war, affecting many innocent lives. You could see it in the way they portrayed family love and death. In long bin’s case and in this father’s case. They love their family so much, that you could feel their pain in face of a death of a love one. And see how far they go to get revenge or save them. And knowing how messed up it’ll get 😭

At the end of the day, a father is a father. And a son is a son. One of the great thing about this show is that it treat its tertiary character very well. Allowing the actors to have at least one or two scene to truly act. Each character has agency, has logic, has motivation, and has consequences.

The blind killing machine is this story's author's version of Isaac Asimov's "R. Daneel Olivaw", a robot-android character who essentially lives forever. I have read Asimov's robot books several times over the past 65 years. It is a fascinating series. The exception is that Asimov's robot cannot (or not programmed to) kill humans.

This is so difficult for someone who just watched Li Qin in 'Song of Glory'. I keep expecting her to draw a sword, dodge crossbow bolts and kick someone right through a solid wall.
It cracks me up that our protagonist has a photographic memory and can quote from poetry he read while he lived in the fantasyland we know as the 21st century global era!
Chinese dramas are so much more interesting than korean dramas. The plot the storyline. The acting. The girls are cute but not useless and empty minded. The character development is fantastic. They look like actual people instead of copies of each other.
Korean dramas are great too. It's just recently Joy of life and The Untamed outstand them too much.

Sorry but in most Chinese dramas female leads can be mad annoying always appearing dumbo (dropped a lot of them) by trying and act innocent pure happy go lucky nice/bubbly characters. In this drama here I feel nothing for female lead -Too 2 dimensional for my liking. And Li Qin shines more in edgier roles rather than weak and bland characters like Wan'er

I don't think the empress dowager is one of the sleeper, i think she seems to find him familiar because he does look like the emperor but more so like his mom, esp the eyes, i remember chen pingping telling him he's got his mom's eyes , ye qingmei must have been a pain in the ass to the empress dowager😂
Lin Qin has pretty cute way of playing this character when her other character of princess Chun in Princess Agents was so annoying, Wan'er is more cuter & sweeter.

That ending was devastating.

What did the mom mean by taking care of uncle? Will he rust? How come FX never asks why his uncle don’t eat or drink? If it was me I would be always wondering. What is the weapon? Is it going to be about the secret place under the pond and the uncle is the weapon?
Don't know what's under the pond, but do know the "weapon" is a sniper rifle. You can see the stock in one shot. The piece held up by Uncle Wu was part of the " ground triangle" for lying on the ground and long shots. That's why FX knew what it was- but no one in this time period would ever guess.
