💬Plot summary:
Fan Xian grew up in a small town by the sea with his grandmother, following a sudden visit of a poison master, his peaceful life quickly morph into one filled with danger and hardship. The Overwatch Council is abnormally far too powerful compared to the rest of the government, and all it takes is for the Overwatch Council to rebel and they can quickly take control because they already oversee the rest of the government.

I prefer it, but I am used to US television, where we get weekly episodes. Also, I am watching multiple cdramas right now, and sometimes the story is so jam-packed with information I need to rewatch some moments several times to get what just happened. Thank goodness for pause and reverse buttons!

Guo baokun was never sinister, merely mean spirited at times but comedic and not evil in his core. I truly felt for him when he lost his father. He's desperate and overwhelmed by loss now but he has got to see li yunrui is batshit crazy.
Pity for Zhu Ge, intelligent man on the wrong team. After all, he places the importance of his country over everything and he isn't wrong about Fan Xian. Much like YQM, Fan Xian will become someone feared by the royal family and likewise, so long as the imperial family holds the power, his life will always hang by a thread.

You are forgetting the original introduction of the guo baokun character where he for literally no reason ended up getting the guard character and his whole family sentenced to death (which the guard avoided by joining the overwatch...) and to do it, threatened the couple into falsely testifying. All of this over random petty shit. Like this character is black and white evil.
He's a good example of a "useful idiot" in these sort of power struggles. He was never his own man, merely a representation of his father at the side of a prince, and why not right? I mean it's the crown prince, how could the next emperor be a bad person, or a petty person, or a fool? Worse what would that mean about me if I follow such a man? So the prince cannot be a fool, which means Fan Xian MUST be a fool and a dangerous fool at that because if the prince is good, then his adversary MUST be evil. It's only when the it's useful to discard the idiot that the idiot realizes that his whole worldview is predicated on a lie, but then it's too late. That's why I think the natural state of a person should be to always doubt anyone with power, because if you assume the best of them it will be you who pays the price when you're wrong.

I am shooketh!! I literally just complimented him being a steady un-waveringly loyal but tender-hearted guy, then that bomb dropped.. sighhh to play devil's advocate, I kind of understand his viewpoint, but as they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions..
Terrible idea from him. Anyone with power will seek to upstage the preexisting one. He eliminate Prince Jing as an option because males may seek to be the next emperor even if it is a branch family. But what if the Princess marry to someone? Or have a child. What if her husband want to be an emperor? What if her son want to be an emperor. What if she want to be an empress. Dowagers in the past refused to relent power to the emperors. And then since she is far remove from the Overwatch. Is the overwatch following Zhuge or they following her. Of course the answer is Zhuge that they are following. What about the next Zhuge, what if the next Zhuge had intention, does the princess really had the power to control the Overwatch when there aren't many people loyal to her outside of Zhuge really. This meant his original problem didn't get solve in the first place.
Lastly, the chief princess is the most terrible choice of all the candidates. She had already proven to put her personal grievances above that of the country. Destroying Fan Xian who is the new literary pillar of Qing doesn't benefit Qing at all. Making moves on Fan Xian implicating both the second prince and the crown prince aren't in the interest of Qing. Get the Prime Minister and another Minister of the 6 branches involved in her personal mess, getting the talented kill over nothing. Is not in the interest of Qing. Compromising palace security, by fraternizing with the chief commander of the guards is a terrible, terrible idea. Lastly, selling out your own spy, and doing favors to a foreign king is not in the interest of Qing, while at the same time losing loyalty of someone like chief Yan.
Chief Princess is powerfully written, playing with the boys. People may curse her as sociopaths but so are men in power.

I was wondering when someone was going to pick up the fact that it was a mistake to send to kill FX in the firsts episodes and that means was a mole in the organization. And still, what Zhu Ge said made me think that maybe is still another mole. Will see.. what a good plot

But with Joy of Life, we have brilliance and proper foreshadowing. The plot twists move the plot forward not drag it back.

He's literally so loyal and know it all abt Chen Pingping when he was away but suddenly when Chen Pingping comeback to capital city he start to turned his back? Like why I just realized now, turns out it's all plan!
It's inevitabel, there is always fresh tea available for almost every visit or situation. Finally, Princess Royal is on her knees.
I don't know if Fan Xian is from the future but the writer of this c-drama is... unreal, such a complex script yet not difficult to follow, while adding so many subtle funny elements to keep it interesting!
He is in the past. Base on the letter episode, earth was destroyed. And already start to rebuild. People that was frozen to survive the apocalypses while the world is modern had slowly came out of the ice in different era and guide civilization. His mom is one. He isn't one of those people. He is the only surviving lab hamster I supposed, experimentation of some sort of memories transplant.

Shit, Zhu Ge reasons made a lot of sense to me. Methods were wrong and too desperate I guess, but I can't fault his vision.
