Chris is very “anti” videos for his music and only agreed to do this one to raise awareness ❤️

A woman struggling with bipolar disorder with extreme highs and lows, while her partner is a constant support no matter what, hence "fire away". Unfortunately nobody can be there for someone 24hrs a day and an impulsive decision can so easily turn to tragedy. Living with mental illness can be a battle, for both the person going through it and for the loved ones trying their best to support them. A sad but very real situation. Chris Stapleton nailed the vocal as only he can, he's a legend.

For myself… I see Bipolar Disorder in this video. It makes me cry every single time. He brought so much awareness to mental health and that you never know who is dealing with what at home. The video did a great job showing all of us their journey. Also.. You can’t just lock up another adult.. in my state the longest you can get is 3 day hold

The visuals of the video I had to watch several times in order to discern whether this was a chemical issue i.e. drugs/alcohol, but then I saw the manic, jumping up and down on the bed to the depths of the depression of walking through the empty cornfield and realized I was looking at manic depression The mood swings at the picnic sealed it. Mental health issues are so hard to find the right combination of medications and therapy and even then many don’t make it through. Sadly, I’ve been there and lost someone very deeply loved to mental health. If anyone you know has mental health issues, please reach outto your local mental health hotline to help you help them to the best of your ability. Bless all who struggle and just importantly bless all those who love those who struggle.

In the song he loved her, and even when he figured out something is wrong with her he still loved her.

His first album was released and starts selling like crazy and his label wants a video, so does Stapleton do what every other star on the rise does? Of course not. He works with the Campaign To Change Direction to raise awareness of mental health issues and puts himself in the video for about a millisecond.

This is one of the few videos I have watched where Chris Stapleton’s voice kind of becomes background to the visual. Don’t get me wrong, Chris is as close to perfection as always, but the intensity of the story becomes the focus. Great video, great message, had me choked up.

Being bi-polar this is exactly what it is. What it looks like. It's hard on both sides. Caregivers are heroes. Those suffering hold on better days are coming!

Fun fact: Chris Stapleton had a cameo as the bartender, you have to be quick to see it.

This video and song hits hard every time I see it. Had a close relative who had been struggling with thoughts of suicide and we all thought they were in a good place until we got the call. It was devastating and heartbreaking. Years later it still hurts. By the way, the bartender in the video is Chris Stapleton.

I love how you talked about what right do we have to put people away. My father was suicidal for years and so many people talked to me about having him committed. But my father was in his late 40's with a multitude of health issues stemming from cancer. He fought to stay with us for a long time. But it's about quality not quantity. He had no quality of life and nobody could understand how I could let him do what he did. They didn't understand how much it hurt me to watch him struggle through a life he didn't want. I miss him every day but I'm so happy he is no longer suffering.

I've seen this personally with someone with bipolar disorder. Super highs and super lows. When things are good things are really good. When things are bad things can get very dark.

Bipolar people who are in control are generally very attractive to others, initially. As time goes on and issues cascade it can become very tough to deal with. You still love the person you first met and hope they reemerge. Sometimes they do. Some of the major personalities of the world are bipolars who are under control. This was to raise awareness for suicide prevention. Very effective.

Chris chose to set his first-ever music video to his haunting song "Fire Away," which he says is about loving someone through the worst of times. Raised awareness for suicide prevention .

I think she had Bi-polar. It's hard because there is a reason it's called that. Most of the time on meds we are pretty even, but I wonder if she went off them or maybe wasn't even diagnosed because this was a lot to happen in what appears to be a little time. There are times when it is best to be put in a room but it can come out of nowhere, happen so fast. If you catch it in time then they are out not long after that because they get stable. It's an incredibly hard thing to deal with, and props to anyone who chooses to, as you put it, "love someone through it". Thanks for your compassion.

I learned at lot from your reaction! I expected you to judge her for being „wrong“ taking her life! With your comment on that you surprised me in an absolute positive way. I judged and thought about you as a „conservative“ US guy! So thanks for making me reflect on my stupid way of thinking! ❤

I would love to see you react to "Broken Cowboy " (live from Happy version) by The Dead South.
It is a beautiful song with some hidden meaning that the lead singer Nate doesn't care to elaborate on. It's a live performance that showcases the amazing talent that these guys have.
You will definitely want to have the lyrics up for this song.

It is all about mental disease. Bipolar. She goes manic and depressed. And when one is in an episode they can say some hurtful things which is why he says “fire away”. Basically give me all you got I am your punching bag. One of his best songs but to watch the video takes away from the awesome lyrics and voice.
