I love the fact that the new battery percentage indicator shows a full battery from 100-21% because it psychologically makes me less likely to worry about my battery levels until they’re actually low.
That’s actually a good point…hadn’t really thought about it that way before. Makes sense.
I can get used to the battery percentage. My phone (13 Pro Max) rarely ever falls below 20% but when it does, the red icon will surely grab my attention. The other times an exact number will do just fine. I think this implementation kinda makes sense.
iOS 16 is really starting to shape up, but yes I'm with you regarding the battery percentage. If I want to know how much I have, I can swipe down. Having the option to display it always is a nice option though.

Agree that the “block” battery is not perfect. It might be that the number is difficult to read if the battery level is pictured in the icon.
Totally agree about everyone going gaga about battery percentage or wallpapers. I like Apple but some people go nuts about every obsessive detail.
Maybe change the battery percentage bar a little bit. Like the battery level going down with the percentage. And I hope the keep the battery percentage bar by the time the official comes out
I actually like how it looks/works, even though I think Apple is testing us and either changing it a bit or removing it again. I hope it stays, since I like it as they implemented it in beta 5. No doubt that people overreacting a bit since it is just a battery icon. Must admit, for many years I always preferred the non-percentage battery icon. I’m using this new one to see if I want to stick with it (unless Apple removes it again) or goes back to the non-percentage again.
I don’t know if you Will see this but I need your help badly I tried to go back to the iOS 16.5 public beta from the iOS 17 developer beta so I can wait for the iOS public beta to release in July but I think my MacBook Air 2015 was not working properly for me to do this on or something went wrong bc my iPhone 12 has been acting weird ever since I tried doing this since yesterday
It didn’t bother me at all. There’s the option of seeing number or glyph. If the number is not a representation good enough, change to just glyph. For some people the number makes more sense, for others the glyph makes more sense.
Now, thinking about a hybrid representation, there’s obviously a challenge on a percentage in which we wouldn’t have the background, where the whole number in a color wouldn’t look good due to the difference in background on left and right.
Thanks for dropping by Felipe! Agree, it's nice to have the option. I'll probably stick to the glyph, unless they change the percentage option with an improved hybrid implementation. I can see where that would be a challenge, though, to do right.
inb4 apple limits the battery % to iphone 11's and above because it requires more processing power

Face it, the only people making a big deal out of the battery percentage are Android users. iPhone users that liked it before are now used to simply swiping down to see the battery percentage. 😁
