The Hoover Aquamaster is the most powerful vacuum I've ever owned. I have the older model than this one, and I use it as a workshop extractor for my power tools. Awesome piece of kit and still going strong at about 30years old.
@@HooverLux Cheers. Going to use it for the garage. Innards a bit rusty in comparison to yours and think the metal below the motor is bonded so can't be fully separated unless you think otherwise?
Thank you my friend, It was very satisfying to get it looking good again and the modifications will make it a lot better for me to use in the future. Looking forward to your upcoming refurb video 🤗
Just as I was thinking “you need a screw card”, lo and behold, you get one! We had one of those (we were Hoover stalwarts,as opposed to Vax). I think the motor blew and the hood melted 😱
Ta Dah! The screw card, never leave home without one 🤣. I’m not surprised that ole Hoover of yours broke with the amount of C** it had to mop up from your bedroom carpet!
Hi there again. Quick question: Did you manage to figure out what dust bags you could use for this Hoover. I was looking for a large capacity bag and am not sure which to order. Any help would be appreciated.
@@HooverLux Animatic?? Tried googlibg that and checking Amazon.... Can't find anyrhing like that. Any change of a link or further details on where to get these? How about the bags for a henry, they seem larger from pictures but no idea if the end will fit.
Hi, i too wanted to overhaul my Aquamaster S4470 many years back. Tried looking on TH-cam and internet as you did and found nothing. I couldn't figure out how to get that lid off. Cant believe I didn't think to check under the handle. Quick question, whats the reason to cut off the supressor? I'm currently starting the overhaul following your procedure.
Hi, glad the video helped you. I remove all the older suppressors off these vacuums as they can go bad after a few years and then explode or fizz, so to prevent any damage I removed them as they are there to stop analog interference, but so much is digital now it doesn’t make any difference. 🥰
@@HooverLux Ah great, thanks for the reply. I will then do the same. I've fully rebuilt the system now, all the internal sponges i put through the washing machine and then after dry, glued back on with contact adhesive. The hoover is running perfect and doesn't smell like wet socks each time i turn it on. As good as new and super powerful.
I have a hoover aquamaster however the cooler fan came detached and yesterday we stuck it back on. Today it starts to spin and then jams up. Looking at your strip down it seems there should be a washer with a screw on top which was not present when I opened it up and when I originally ran it the fan kept spinning off the spindle so we thought it had worn down so the sticking of it down. Is there any chance in your opinion that it can be brought back into action or is it useless now? Thanks for your attention to my problem.
Hi Doreen, oh gosh, it’s so hard to diagnose without seeing it in front of me, I’m absolutely no expert, but I’m a capable tinkerer 🤣, there’s always normally some way of fixing these.
@@HooverLux i stuck it on with super glue and now trying to dissolve the glue. Not given up yet but will be devastated if I don't succeeded. Wish I had seen your video first.
got it detached. Will be returning to England in a few months will contact you for you to see my wonderful hoover acquamaster and hopefully bring it back to life.

Thanks for sharing!
Found one of these flytipped, was just going to put to proper recycling, but tested it and it worked so this video has helped with its strip down!
Oh excellent! They’re really good as vacuums, the carpet washer side of it was a bit meh, but as vacs and tough vacs, I love it.

Ooh, I can’t remember?, but if it sounds ok, I’d leave it to be honest as it’s a garage vac, It will be perfect for you.
Nice strip down and build , looking forward to part 2 . Keep up the awesome work Doreon .👍👍

I have watched these many times on the channel. They seem a good vacuum to work on in to use thanks for showing it have a great day
Hi Keith, glad you enjoyed, part 2 is on Monday at 8pm. Thanks for your comment.
This takes me back. We used to have an aqua jet which was a dark green colour and had a pump. Quite powerful!
I’ve seen those ones on other channels, they do look really good.

I used animatic bags, was a bugger to get on but they did eventually fit.
