Hi Graham A fantastic addition we have added to ours is a set of Peggy Pegs base plates for the support legs. The base plates get screwed to the floor and the legs clamp into them, then when you put the canopy away you leave the base plates in position for the next time you put the canopy out again 😃 Also comes with storm straps, works brilliantly 👍
Hello International Caravan Vlogger., love your new toy enjoy playing with it, you won’t need that in the UK ! Just buy an umbrella and a pair of wellies😮. Just got home after a wet fortnight in Barmouth 😂 Chris and Kath
🇺🇦 Hi Graham. Great vlog. Brother and myself were thinking of getting these, but when we put it to the wives silent treatment. Those clips should be ok but with most plastics the uv rays destroy them after time. Thanks for showing us. You never know might be able to persuade the bosses what a brilliant thing they are.🤔 Keep safe Graham. Pete and Su.
Love it. Brains of Britain (Tony) said don't forget to measure the new height of your van. Don't want you hitting any barriers. Not that you would being a international caravan vlogger.
Thanks for watching. It's lower than the aircon. I dont think I've ever gone anywhere that has barriers. I'm not a motor homer that sleeps in an Asda car park for save a few quid 😵💫🙄😂
Love it Graham 👌Like to think those legs are stronger than they feel. End of the day, it's a top quality product, tried and tested. Think you'll end up using it a lot more than an owning especially on those shorter trips away. 👍👍
Had the same installed a couple of weeks ago. Used it over the last couple of weeks when we had that torrential rain and strong gusts of winds. Use it with storm guys and did not move, although took it down with the wind (coward). Good luck with it and if you use it in windy weather give a report. Alan.
Nice addition to the caravan Graham 👍. @ 7:36 to 7:40 I thought you were going to say ‘don’t’ mention the crocs 😂. After the cost of E&P, the motorized awning would have been the cherry on the cake. Would have made life a bit easier 😀. Cheers, Rob
Hi Graham, I'm a bit confused, I wrote to Thule to see if they supply the bracket you mention . This is the reply. Hello Richard and thank you for contacting Thule Support The product you are describing is nothing I recognize. If there is no bolts or screws than I am guessing it must be glued? I would not recommend attaching an awning to any adapter or bar that is not bolted down to the caravan as this would potentially be a hazard on the roads. I would really like to fit one to my caravan and would appreciate your comments. Enjoy your videos. Thanks @@CaravanVlogger
@hutsey7 Thanks for the message. I’ll have to say, the guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about unfortunately. You can’t bolt it to the caravan roof, for a start it invalidates your warranty. I’m no expert and my dealer fitting it. In my research I saw the brackets on Rose Awnings website.. www.roseawnings.co.uk/caravan-roof-adapter/?srsltid=AfmBOoqQ-KxaQk6IU_u2J3IPZS9YkNY-rwjWXUX5yjuQVJI8fy6WvLOp I’m not sure why a rep of Thule is talking such utter tripe 🤷🏼♂️
Graham we have had the thule omnistore 1200 5m canopy for 3 years the legs are stronger then you think and the locking bit has never been a problem. I am considering changing to this as the other one is getting harder to put away!
Great looking canopy but I don't like how they've designed the leg locking levers to stick out when in the locked position, there's a chance of catching them when you walk past. Would be better if they locked in the pushed down position so they were flush.
As you mention you'll improve your technique, it took me a few trips to master the manual wind out till I got fed up and brought the motor 😂 tips are when fitting and removing the handle have it dead straight to the fitting, once in relax and bring the handle down below head height to wind in or out, the legs you drop to remove some of the weight off the mount so you do want to lock the leg until your fold the leg in I did also give my clips and legs a spray of lubricant and it did make it a much smoother and easier process 👍🏻
When i bought my omnistore, the first time I i used it I would have had to put a huge amount of force on those plastic clips to get them to work ehich i wasn't prepared to do so i lubricated it with some silicone spray which i haven't had to do since.
Great vlog Graham you answered my question perfectly, l have sim 650 and was worried about the 5g Ariel weather it would be in the way but seems just enough space, better than rolling up by hand ? 😂
Hello, thinking of replacing our awning rail Thule Omnistor 1200 with a roof mounted version like you have, can you find out the part description of the rail system glued to the roof, web site does not list this item to price up.
TBh I don't know for sure as the dealer just dealt with it. It might be this though. Not sure if it's a universal roof bracket for all caravans 🤷♂️ www.roseawnings.co.uk/caravan-roof-adapter/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw84anBhCtARIsAISI-xe725MruFt5KxJ6yq62XkZ1zZB6fMe73R91dZk5Gm70asLkBUWRc78aAlacEALw_wcB
Hi, I just checked my emails and I got it from ebay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164465768021?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=0nFprxzETmi&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=gH3B1CK6Sqm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Hi Graham, did your 6300 require you to buy an additional awning rail to be fitted to the roof, or was the 6300 glued directly on the roof. I have to say that the Thule website is poor regarding what you need to buy to have one of these installing. I am going for the motorised version of the 9200 because I am lazy and want to make life as easy as possible. Hopefully by now you have used your awning in anger (pleasure) and your vlogs will contain updates. Cheers Colin
Yes, it's very confusing isn't it? That's why I went through a dealer to get it fitted. The cassette awning needs a bracket to fit into. This bracket (about £300, but I wasn't sure which one I'd need) is glued to the roof, so there's no drilling into the roof, which I was happy with. The awning bolts onto the l-shaped bracket. I hope that helps.
We have a canopy similar to yours but a fiamma on our campervan. Never leave it unattended without pegging it to the floor and or putting the storm cords on. It takes very little wind to send the canopy up and over the top of the caravan and destroy it without the pegs in. Nearly caught us out ! Don't use wd40 on plastic components, if you must but it shouldn't need it, use silicon spray.
Thanks for watching. When I said wd40 I meant wd40 silicone spray. I probably won’t use it though, I don’t like spraying it on things like that. Yes we’ve experienced wind with our Fiamma Caravanstore 😳🤦
Very informative film. Not sure if could get the correct length, but being a bit on the short side all that winding at a height could be tiring . Suppose the wife could do it.Unlikely!
We like the canopy now that I remember to put the stability brackets in before winding it back to the vehicle. Thanks for mentioning that error of mine, it was a horrible wait to get it fixed and couldn’t use it, so I’m keen nobody else makes the same mistake 😃👍🏻 Trev
Thanks for watching Trev. Yes watching you’re vlog was one of the reasons I got one. It was good of you to mention the mistake as it’ll always be in my mind. Not everyone would have admitted it. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching. I meant silicone spray. When I’m filming I’m usually saying the first thing that came into my head. I should have corrected myself
Really cannot see the point of it. Just buy a cheap lightweight awning and take out the panels. Put it up in a minute, save hundreds of pounds and weighs next to nothing.

that's works well. and you can also now take your awning too. if you put up your awning, put out the canopy too, it will keep your awning dry.

Hi, thanks for your message. I tend to agree with you, the only thing I noticed that it looks like screws are used along with the bonding. Richard
No screws on the roof, it’s just bonded. In 2 places there are holes where it looks like it could be screwed, but it isn’t.
