    The room is lovely. Such a nice change from the "farm house" look we being bombarded by in every ad, home tour and video where everything is some shade of white. These rooms from Abode are rooms that will last for generations. Sarah is the best. Tommy is too.

    I love how talented designers bring together elegant details that set the room apart. The floor detail reminds me of inlay but at a bargain. I would have preferred the extra chairs in a softer color paint. That wallpaper and silk fabric are so wonderful.

    The room makes a fabulous overall impression. Love: the silk chairback fabric; the porcelain wall sconces; the wallpaper. Not so crazy about: the pendant light (too wagonwheel-ish); the fabric juxtaposition on the chairs; the curtains (bland); the lack of a carpet.

    For many of us, budget is an issue, so we need to take elements of Sarah’s design process and adapt them. At the very beginning of the segment, there were white dishes stacked on the table. Perhaps a more modest rendition of the room could have saved the expense of all new china. While I feel like the wallpaper is lovely, it doesn’t seem to complement the bottom portion of the wall; using paint alone would have looked good, with less of a visual impact, that’s true, but also been a savings. I thought the artwork did not work at all and wouldn’t have included it. I enjoy the show for its inspiration, but I definitely can’t indulge in the cost.

    Couldn't help wondering why they didn't just keep the gold upholstery on the chairs since they played off the gold in the floral fabric they put on the back. That would have allowed them to keep the tufting, an expensive element, on the back of the chairs that go at the ends of the table. It looked to be in decent shape and could have been cleaned if needed. The floral fabric added to the back was lovely, but the geometric print on the front just didn't complement it at all. The original solid velvet would have showcased it much better.

    It’s a lovely room. Especially like the fabric for the dining chairs. Only change I’d make is the dark gray for the panel centers. I’d don’t know why. It’s like they look dirty or something…

  • @mapsman5513
    @mapsman5513 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, apparently my comment with a link to Geeta's talk about what happened during and after the show was deleted. The budget was $16,000, but that included switching out the chairs to a more modern style and quieter fabric and returning the art and all of the props...everything on top of the table and sideboard.

  • @freedomofreligion3248

    Sarah had a tailored 3/4 length jacket made of that delicious silk embroidered -- is that chinoiserie, or am I wrong? Whatever it is, it's so lovely, in a room, or on a lady.

    Much to love, but not everything. I personally would PASS on floral chair
    backs ... alittle too Bo-Ho for my taste!
    Would have considered a dark stained
    instead of white painted floor band.

  • @angelayoung5798
    @angelayoung5798 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    "everything on top of the table and sideboard." So that China that she thought was a steal at $350? Good thing because it wasn't worth $50. Would love to see that link go up again! This room was done well over 10 maybe 15 years ago so it's age is showing anyway...but painted ceilings and formal not likely a couple actually uses it nightly..for sure they are in the living room eating in front of that TV.

      It's an amazing dining room and if they agree it's because they work together and have the same taste. She wouldn't be working with designer who prefer minimalistic decor cause she's ain't about it. It's also the house owners taste so ur rudeness is the image of ur house I bet,Not my taste.

    • @thehungrygoldfish
      @thehungrygoldfish 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, a budget can be anything. It doesn't have to be $5. That'll be a sad show, actually. $5 designs where you just work with what you have and get nothing except for fake flowers in cheap vases made in a sweat shop of dying starving overworked Chinese orphans. Fun.

    • @Kevin-sm8pn

      I mean, to be fair, if someone wants to redo a space exactly they want it to without anyone putting their own stamp on it, then why not do it yourself? You have to pay for everything anyway, and you can take your time with it.
