Your dining table in that dark colour actually looks like it belongs in that space - it sets off your dining chairs so beautifully and would stand out in relief against a floral wallpaper (like the one in your bedroom).
Your table is perfect with the chairs. I have cherry wood furniture that is 30 + years old. I wouldn't change the color despite everyone's cringing over orange brown wood!!! Embrace the beauty of all wood colors.
Your new table is gorgeous! Someone else suggested to move your large mirror where the green cabinet is now and it would reflect so much light from your windows! I agree! I love using mirrors in my home for that reason! ❤️ Happy decorating!
Hi Elize, great furniture finds. I was thinking maybe you could move the big gold mirror and put it against the wall where the green cabinet is, to reflect the light in the room until you get a skylight and move the green cupboard and put it where the mirror is until you find the right piece of furniture that you like. You could add faux green plants and put them next to the big mirror to give that space life, and add a free standing light in gold. Of course you need a big dining room table. 😂 You are funny. Seriously, the small round table was abit small for the space. Well done on your lovely purchases. The couch🛋️ is so cute. Enjoy. 🤗💖💐
Wouldn't it be easier to use different colour table clothes instead of painting it. It's also a good way to see what color would be best in that corner.
Me too. I have never found very good thrift stores in my part of the USA except when I go a thousand miles away to my summer home Upstate NY.-- New York has the best shopping ever!!!maybe its the population, IDK.
@mosstaylor9859 I do think it depends on location. I live an hour north of Atlanta, and it's all crapola here. haha Maybe closer to the 2 million dollar homes in Atlanta, the pickings are better. But, who wants to drive on the off-chance that you may find something?
@@vickinoeske1154 I agree, I used to drive to the East side of Nashville Tn. ( RICH AREA! ....lol ) but its a long drive from the south side In which I live ( working class area. ) Unless I make a full day of it, and have my own truck. ☺
My suggestions. Take the time to hang up all the artwork that you have and donate the rest. Find table lamps so that your house isn't so dark. It will feel so much more cozy!
Yes, and I love lighting candles, as well. I have glass holders for my votives that I set inside my tea cups from my set of china. They are on my dresser . I have found many uses for my china, other than using it in the traditional way for a meal to entertain guests.
Design rule of thumb light from every corner !! Yes lamps are needed ... I agree wallpaper bright in back wall, hang picture s , skylight would be beautiful....live with that table a long time before painting. ..you may learn to live it ...I do.
Yes, lamps are good, and skylights add natural light, which is better for your emotional well being, as you connect more with nature, Plants love being near skylights and although there is an up front cost for installation, you do save a little more money on electricity in the long run.@@jayemowrey1416
Elise….I actually love your dining table color the way it is! After 50 years of marriage when we downsized, I went thrifting for a good expandable table to be used for just us or family gatherings….and found a beautiful cherry table & chairs from a couple also moving into a condo but not for family gatherings any more. I am so satisfied with the feeling of being grounded with cherry wood that I also use it for cutting out patterns on fabric for clothing for the grandchildren….besides many grand dinners! You may want to wait on changing the color till getting on your wallpapered wall and skylight. I can see why you want the feeling of not so much cramping overhead but lift with a skylight. Your beautiful mirror for that space highlights, sparkles & expands the feeling! Wonderful!
I love the curved arms of the sofa,it is so charming. I can’t wait to see the little area you create! Thank you also for sharing your street scenery it is gorgeous and so different than Southern California.
Try the big mirror on the end wall of dining room .. it will reflect the natural light from the window 💕 Also try twinkle lights or fairy lights on top of your cupboard ..that will light the ceiling.. making any room brighter 🤠
Can’t wait to see what you are going to do! One of the joys of living on your own is that you can paint the wood on your table if you want to! It’s fun to be creative with thrifted finds, and I love watching what you do. Great content.
Elise has a talent in decor and an incredible vision for design!. She reminds me of me in my younger years, only much more depth in design and color ( when I had to be careful with $ ) 😉.
The sofa is so lovely in your shop! The pattern looks so pretty with the patterns of the clothes! Also, I love the table as it is! I think it speaks really nicely to the brickwork in the living room. But it’s your space and it’s most important that you’re happy with it!
Hi Elise, skylights are great, but be sure you get the right contractor. All of them will tell you, 'no problem' however, to cut in a skylight into an existing roof is sometimes asking for problems, especially with rain, frost, ice and snow in your area. Some roofers may advise against it - take your time. Love your channel, Happy New Year!
That large mirror would be nice where the cupboard is, so when people are sitting at the table, they can see outdoors, and it would bring more light to the space. It seems wasted where it is now.
Have you considered placing the large gold floor mirror where the cabinet is in the dining room? Just guessing it would pull some of the light from the window into the dining room for now.
I can't wait to see what color/colors you choose for the table! I taught my daughter to look at the style/shape of an item and envision it in a different color, as you can change it to suit your style. I was thrilled to see you bought the painting of the man.🥰
Yes I love that table and its colour! It looks utterly perfect with your beautiful armchairs! I look forward to seeing your amazing skylight. Brightest Blessings on your every single moment
I love your new table. Dont paint. The chairs go so well with the table. Add small lamps every dark corner. A dear friend shared that idea . It's very cozy. I agree about the mirrors . Great video
Perfect vintage this week with beautiful coats and jackets and I can't wait to see the seating area in the boutique. The dining room table surprising looks great in your house. What about adding some recessed lighting in your dining room area rather than a skylight? A few cans cans will add such a warm glow, lots of light and they don't interfere with your aesthetic, so you could still add a beautiful chandelier over the table if you wanted. They're also a great way to highlight a hutch or art pieces. Thanks for taking us along this week, who wouldn't enjoy January in Denmark with Elise 😘
I love that you have a vision of what you want and are fearless to go after it and / or make changes when you feel it. I enjoy watching the evolution of your beautiful home!
What about midnight blue for the table? And a beautiful wallpaper behind it with floral and birds in a turquoise tone? Blue is complementary to orange, which is the color of your sofa. 😊
I too, love the dining room table and it's original wood color. It matches so well with the chairs. Love it. (I really hope you don't have plans to paint them.....that would just not look right with that wonderful tapestry. Who ever gets your cabinet, is going to score. Love your new line of clothes....take care.

I love the dark table but it's your decor. It does set off the chairs. If you paint your table will you have to paint the rims of your chairs so it will match it? As far as the skyline it sounds like a great idea but make sure that the carpenter does a great job because skylights that you put in a roof tend to leak. So make sure he puts in some extra leak-proof stuff around the skylight.
Watching your video was so relaxing. The drive through the countryside and city is a reminder of my trip to Denmark. Beautiful! I love the new dining table and look forward to seeing what you will do with it. The small sofa is just the right piece for your boutique. You waited and searched the thrift stores until the right pieces spoke to you. Good luck with finding the perfect sideboard or buffet for your dining room. The addition of a sky light will brighten that area greatly. Until your next video, good luck choosing your carpenter. ~Debi in Ohio
The new dining table looked huge in the store, but the size is great in your room. The size is just right even if you live by yourself. It will be great for crafting, sewing - whatever you want do. Looking forward to seeing what colour you paint it. Hello from Australia.

Hi Elise you choose stunning pieces when thrifting, the skylight will definitely brighten your space with natural light 😊❤ the dining table fills the space nicely.

Elise, be careful about getting a skylight. They are notoriously known for being leaky. Also, I just read that here in the US they aren't putting them in new homes anymore.
I love going around the thrift shops with you! A sky light would make a huge difference. I totally agree about the Carpenter, I found one and I live on my own. Hi Elise, what a beautiful Table. The darker color gives you some contrast, but I realize, you don’t like darker colors. Really great thrift finds. Thank you for taking us along with you.
I love how the new dining table in its extended state has the same shape as your sofa table. That also sort of brings the two parts of the room together as their central pieces correspond with each other. Nice choice! So far I love all your interior design choices! Even with the brick wall - I was sceptical about that whitewash in the first place - it looks so stunning and really adds to the character of your home! 🏡 😍
Your dining table in that dark colour actually looks like it belongs in that space - it sets off your dining chairs so beautifully and would stand out in relief against a floral wallpaper (like the one in your bedroom).
I do have a plan, and the table isn't staying like that 🥰
I agree .
I would rather see it in a lighter colour = more Bohemian style.
Agree... I would wait and live with it until the walls and sky light are sorted. Time makes things look different. But that's just me. 😊❤
I agree with you
Your table is perfect with the chairs. I have cherry wood furniture that is 30 + years old. I wouldn't change the color despite everyone's cringing over orange brown wood!!! Embrace the beauty of all wood colors.

I say TWO of those mirrors on that wall, side by side would be gorgeous 💜
I think the large gold mirror would look beautiful on wall where green cabinet is
Move the mirror, before you order the skylight!
What a great idea! The mirror would look fantastic there!

I was surprised by how well the new table fit in the space. That room is very large.
Wouldn't it be easier to use different colour table clothes instead of painting it. It's also a good way to see what color would be best in that corner.
I was thinking the same…👍🏻
I love that when you have a vision for something you dont let others dissuade you. Keep being your unique, beautiful self!
The idea of having one person as your handyman is very good. ❤❤❤❤❤
I would also check with my friends and family for recommendations 😊
Absolutely! ❤❤❤❤especially as a single woman and background checks!! Always do background checks

The dark table looks good with the dark chairs in that position. If you want to brighten up the space the use of a colourful table runner would do the trick. You could even place a small but tall potted plant next to the lamp to add greenery there. Plants always brighten up a space. I think your home looks lovely. Even with the brick wall - I was sceptical about that whitewash in the first place - it looks so stunning and really adds to the character of your home! 🏡 😍
