Luke, love the video's, espicially the 24 hour pier challenges. I'd suggest the Stratford pier just in cairns along the barron, Be very interesting to see you live out on an Estuary-like pier. Keep up the good work! 👍

I do alot of mulloway fishing and use live bait, I like to use 4.0 hooks on a snell rig, bottom hook just behind the dorsal fin and the second hook through its nose with a running sinker. I use a baitrunner reel with super light drag

Spotted grunter is first and has the smaller of the size limits and taste great. The other one you called a grunter is a river Jewish no relation to barred and spotted grunter.

Mate the black shaded water is where the predators hang out , tight drag and a 10ft plus 8/10kg rod 60/100lb leader and snelled 4/0 suicide hooks and a live bait . Also in the fresh water creeks there are large prawns put some traps in the night before and use them ...

Use the current/tide to wash them under hence the long rod as it needs to curve over a hand rail and the jetty itself.

Keep em coming Luke absolutely love the videos Ur putting out u should go to south Johnston with Ur boat and have a fish around there I've seen trout pulled up just near the boat ramp as there is a few inshore reefs there don't dive them as it at the mouth of the creek and big crocks in the area

Fish bite early in the morning or evening, keep your live bait fresh ready for the hot bite. when you throw the net have a bucket of water ready before you throw.

Good vid man but lucinda jetty is good. Just gotta pick the right tides and fish all the way at the end of the jetty. Plenty of big fingermark and grunters there on the right tide.

Grunter are amazing eating. The best lure for barra are either holt productions lures or white paddle shads by Zman.

@@lukefalzon Hi Luke, I'm fish at Noosa but I have been up to Cains and all around up north and caught many Grunter and they have soft white flesh that is best baked whole.
That jetty gets smashed but people still get good fish and squid there. Just gotta be lucky. Night time seems to be productive there from what I’ve heard.
Great vid as always mate. Even though you didn't catch anything worth eating, you had a good day's fishing. Did you try catching squid? They are always a tasty treat when you are hungry and easy to catch.

Crescent perch.. and also I recommend you use circle hooks if you don't want to drop ya fish.. once they're hooked.. they're hooked.
The current is running so hard there because you're at the southern end of the channel that feeds the mangroves behind Hinchinbrook Island. All that current ripping past is water moving into the southern end of the Hinchinbrook mangroves which is over 50km square of mangrove forest. On a 3m tide, you have 50 square kays times 2 meters of water depth going in through that channel. The current runs at almost 10 knots in some places.
you should do busselton jetty in perth longest jetty in the southern hemisphere 1.8km out to sea.

@@lukefalzon Busselton jetty is good for squid but early in the morning you can catch tuna and sometimes salmon and a majority or other fish, you dont even have to go out taht far for squid you can go about 500m just look for the squid ink marks and go squidding from there.

put your hook though the eye socket, not the eye ball itself but right below it through the socket. That way it will hang off your hook facing the current. Or through it back 1/2 way along but keep it above the lateral line or it'll die. The herring work as bait just as well dead as live so it's no big deal. Try the hook in the eye socket though, it'll work better for sure

If you go to Tully go to the mouth of the banyan river and Tully river anchor upstream and run baits down the river those freshwater prawns are the key and there’s a heap of creeks in Tully itself also you like diving go further up the banyan and jump in take some burly the life in those rivers is incredible, also have a crack at catching the famous jungle perch

Try mustad demon circle hooks on loop knots or snell knots if doing baits that are just set and forget will help hookup fish and keep them hooked

Hey man good stuff. I’m down in Victoria and been getting out trout fishing heaps, if you’re ever keen I can take you out. Know a ripper spot on the river in the mountains with trout for days.
I recommend also buying a clicker reel for live bait I use an Abu Garcia ambassadeur c4 clicker reel it will do what ever you want and pair it with a Diawa beef stick trust me on that also could you make a video on buying it and fishing for makeral with it

They are delicious and like the colder/fresher waters of the south in New Zealand which is where i I currently am located. Didn’t realise aussie had them? They don’t even swim past the middle of the north island here due to not liking heat, which is still probably 15 degrees colder than Queensland. Must be a few variations of them. Good spotting !
