      not gonna lie - not a lot of people like the seat and I get why. but when I flew with them I was 1 of 5 people and if you look at the score most of it wasn't the best - but the service was very good - just as good as SQ so that tipped it the other way. would I fly with them again in that seat, probably not which is why I said I would like to try their new seat when it comes out.

      after my experience, you would want to wait until the new seat comes out - was supposed to be out end of 2020 but that didnt happen - if you get a chance, do the new seats with LH service and you cant go wrong with it.
      knowing this I would want to try Eurowings longhaul as its the same seats but I want to know how the service changes

    Are you using Vicarious Voyager’s graphics? The maps look identical to his.

    • @travellingonpoints
      @travellingonpoints  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hmm they do look similar - by the looks of things we use the same software plug-in in after effects to be made. In terms of colours - the basis of my maps is a modified version of the Blue Water map by Xavier on Snazzy maps (snazzymaps.com/style/25/blue-water) and the icon is just a plane icon from Google. But they do look similar I will say - probably get done for plagiarism now lol

      Thanks! 😃 yeah LH needs work on their planes, would I fly LH again - probably not as well in their current state.
      But I with their new 1-2-1 seats (assuming they didn't make it as tight as the current one) should be quite good. they just need to fix the food and boom you have a good carrier to be flying with, although LX throne seats are hard to beat.

    For me, the most important part of a review is, how much footwell space is there? no mention that i could find in this review.

    • @travellingonpoints
      @travellingonpoints  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      that actually is a fair point that I kind of did gloss over - will take it on board moving forward :) . but for LH, the footwell space is just as big as what you would expect on other airlines with similar seats (due to the fact that the footwell is under the seat infront). if you want truly large leg space then BA, Korean Air, JAL and Gulf Air would be your best options as they don't have a footwell per se.

    I have traveled LH Business a couple of times. After my last trip on the A340 I swore not to fly LH business again. I must admit that I have always found the soft product (service and food and entertainment) excellent. It is obviously disappointing to hear that things were not up to par on your flight.
    The seat is worse than dated - they are a disaster. Somehow the seat had previously not worried me so much on the A380 - maybe that was because it was only a 6 hr flight as opposed to 13 hrs on the A340. You were lucky that there was a sign BUSINESS CLASS ONLY on the toilet door. As there are no toilets in the front of the aircraft, the only 2 toilets for Business are between Premium/Economy and Business. As there was no sign on the door on the aircraft meant there were queues from Business and the Economy section in for one and the same toilet opposite directions! The toilets are directly off the galley so every time someone left the toilet the odors wafted through the food galley. Absolutely awful. I also experienced constant static shocks the whole night.
    Sadly, the new seats are not going to be around soon. They will only be introduced with the 777X (probably not before 2023) and even worse: there are currently no plans to update any of the business seats on any other wide body aircraft. LH have gotten themselves into a tight fix and the future of their Business Class product is not looking good

    • @travellingonpoints
      @travellingonpoints  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the thing is - LH doesn't offer anything extremely compelling that makes you want to fly with them again. like they play it very safe. Hard product is nothing special and soft product is middle of the road - food is ok, amenity kit is ok, headphones are ok - the only good thing that sets it apart is the dream collection. but then you look at what QR, CX, EK or even Jet blue are doing and it goes further. like even with F, the food trolly is nice but Dine on Demand is where it's at.
      with the seat - I swear they bought it bulk, its on all their long haul and they are trying to shift it to Eurowings now. for the toilet, I mean there is nothing stopping Y from using the toilet - it was only fenced off by a little rope which isn't hard to cross. considering it is next to Y and you could slip in to use it without anyone seeing it. I am actually quite glad someone else had that experience with the static as I thought it was just me.
      to get LH J in a good state - sadly i think they should be looking at how LX does it - from what I can see they offer a better J product - if you discount the 150 ish euro to reserve a throne seat. But instead, they just dropped the price to make it super cheap.
      this isn't helped by the fact they devalued their miles system and went to a zone/continent based calculation method like BA after criticising how it worked.

    • @Yves_Ka
      @Yves_Ka 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@travellingonpoints It is going to take a while before LH will be able to see what path they want to follow in the future. There have been reports that F&B will be charged on Euro Business. Still they will need to find features that will set them apart from EW. I am guessing that major decisions will only be made once they are up and flying again. I am pretty sure First will eventually disappear completely.
      The toilet issue is only on 340. Once they replace them that will change. The question is when will they finally do that. Those aircraft are completely paid off and they will probably fly them into the ground

    • @travellingonpoints
      @travellingonpoints  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Yves_Ka man I hope they don't charge for food in J - what would separate it from EW or any other euro-econ flight if they did.
      yeah totally agree -everything is changing for the airline - although for me I think F will still be around - I think they have thrown too much money at it and the carrier wants it as a status symbol more than anything else - I mean they have the F terminal at FRA and MUN. I thought they were going to keep the A340 and give them to EW for that long-haul project they had - EW discover or EW bizclass or something like that - they basically just repurposed the seats.
      My view is that they need to work out what their loyalty program is - it's way too complicated - like on EW you can collect Premium, Status, Select and HON Circle miles but its not part of Star Alliance so who knows.
      now UK is out of the EU I think their biggest competitor is fighting off AF/KLM and EK rather than IAG - AF first looks pretty good and EK is just eating market share with cheap flights since they have to fill the A380

      @Jisue Kim Again sorry it took so long. Helpful infos + editing quality put this flight report on another level! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 More videos please!
    Speaking of Lufthansa, I think they do well on short-haul flights within Europe... while on long-haul flights, I’d honestly choose other airlines over LH, especially between Europe and Asia. Don’t you agree?
    Looking forward to watching more videos! Ciao!

    • @travellingonpoints
      @travellingonpoints  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More to come! just need to get past Covid.
      when flying within Europe - you have Euro Business which is nothing special, you are paying for convivence with the service, not the seat - ie. Fast track, Lounge, Priority boarding etc. My view of being loyal for short-haul is that you are there to collect Miles or status (depending on the alliance you're with) not for the experience. for LH, you are competing with LX, EW, and Austrian - does it really matter who you are with for 2 hours? or you only flying them for status.
      but yes - totally agree, forlong haul in its current state, I would be on QR for OW, or KE for ST and even for Star Alliance I would much prefer SQ or TK - but cost is always a factor and you can't deny a 1400EUR flight from UK to HK RTN in C isnt good value (especially since Y was 1,000EUR).

    Equal score for 2-2-2 seating and a 1-2-1 reverse herringbone? Not sure why lol

    • @travellingonpoints
      @travellingonpoints  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well I gave it quite a bit of thought when I decided to give its value. If we took extremes - at the top end you had the Collins Serenity seats (on Oman Air, JAL and Korean) as the best seat (IMO) and the worst being the United 777 2-4-2 business as the worst - then CX and LH has to be somewhere on the scale. since CX is a standard seat I gave it a 6 - a standard seat you would expect in business. has a lie flat but not as good as say the ANA room, Qsuite, Thompson Vantage Throne seat - but better than what EK and TK have on their older planes with the angled seat.
      LH got a six as a result of better build quality over the actual seat. to be fair its not a strong 6 - it is lie flat, strong table, premium materials, everything is close or easily accessible (you don't need to turn your body to get at seat controls etc). look at the CX or Virgin Atlantic seats which look nice but are already falling apart on a350's with bad stitching and lower quality materials.
      its a custom seat - so its a bit harder to judge - but if I hard to do it again I would choose the CX seat because of the 2-2-2
