Ok so this video was inspired by the fantastic Evangelion AMV "Neon Theater" by PantsAMV. There are some very deliberate nods to that AMV cause I couldn’t help myself lol that video really did something to my brain chemistry. Please go watch it, it's so good: • 【Evangelion】【AMV】Neon ...
Basically, I wanted to edit Sanji vs Queen and I felt like the only way of doing it justice would be like an Extreme version of episode 1061 with even more visual cues and flashbacks to show what Sanji is feeling. I really like the lyrics "go ahead and do it one more time", with how much Queen is taunting Sanji about the Vinsmokes, making him relive his trauma - one more time.
I'm obsessed with the over the top cheerful nature of WCI with its musical numbers, and I will take any opportunity to lip sync the singing creatures in my videos lol they’re so much fun and in this case they really reinforce the irony of the lyrics paired with that scene (his family ”needs” him there, but they don’t care about him, sanji has achieved ”success”, he’s in a fairytale land, getting married, and his family is happy about it, but everything is wrong and twisted). But the lyrics get more sincere as the video progresses and by the end the ”can’t wait to see” line becomes genuine words of encouragement from Sanji’s real family :’)
My favorite moment from episode 1061 is right before Sanji beats Queen and he tells himself "I am who I am". I LOVE that line so much and how it mirrors what Luffy told him in WCI - "Well, that's who you are". That's why I chose to have the scene of Luffy smiling right before the mask breaks.
Maaaan. I love Sanji. Can’t wait to see what he does next.

I literally just found this channel, and I’m so glad I did. This AMV is amazing. It’s so good. Sanji is my favorite character in One Piece, and I feel so lucky that there are so many good edits with him.
This just goes to show that action scenes can absolutely work in an AMV when there’s more to it than just the fight, and Sanji was the best character to do that with.
Sanji is an emotionally complex character with so much to unpack that his generous amount of screen time makes him an actual goldmine to explore on an emotional level. Sanji’s a character that’s made for AMVs like this and other good ones I’ve found in the past.
I love the emotion of the song you’ve chosen. It really added to the feelings the visuals conveyed. It’s clear you have a masterful understanding of how music, lyrics, and visuals work together to convey story and emotion. The ending sequence of Sanji choosing to be himself and breaking the raid suit was all the more impactful thanks to the music and editing.
My personal favorite bit was when the mask broke. The music went perfectly with that. And the final scenes of Reiju, Sora, and Zeff were beautiful. Perfectly conveys the significance of that decision Sanji made.
Absolutely love this AMV. It was a perfect way to end and start the new year.

This is such a beautiful piece of art. You captured the heartbreakingly human dichotomy of Sanji being being both worthless and priceless to different people, and how being worthless in his most tender years had been so deeply ingrained into him that it echoes in him at the current era, and the real sublime catharsis of him overcoming that with patient love by those worthy to be in his life. The sad, aching nostalgia paired with the helplessness during WCI really lets the audience FEEL the one, long traumatic emotional flashback he was experiencing throughout the arc. A perfect example of why he's my favorite character. A+, thank you!

@@ookieososes the butterfly symbolism throughout wci is so good ahh i love it and i think it's an anime only thing which is really cool. the scene where sanji looks up at the moon is his ultimate disney princess moment and i want to add it to all my edits. i didn't even think about the name similarity lol that's so funny. also their shitty dads. gendo at least has some redeeming qualities, can't say the same for judge he just straight up sucks :) oh and to add more to the prophecy the shot at 2:54 looks like a nod to the end of evangelion hehe
