- DJ Paul stopped by Hot 1079 to chop it up with B High about his latest project and tour "Master Of Evil". During the conversation Paul also discusses the origins of 3-6 Mafia, what it was like running a major independent label, creating music with UGK, Cash Money, and Outkast. Furthermore, DJ Paul discusses the untimely deaths of group members Lord Infamous and Koopsta Nicca.

3-6 came up in a time when you had to stay hungry, work tirelessly, and care about your craft. They paid their dues. The south wasn't even getting respect for hip hop at the time but they kept grinding. I've got mad respect for these guys. You won't hear new artists telling these kinds of stories. The games changed.
It didnt matter when you can sell 200 thousand out of your trunk you dont need Sony. I was surprised when they signed that deal because their albums and tapes were in our stores like regular signed artist in the south near Memphis. Even Unsigned artist from Memphis like playa fly had full card board cut outs of them and the albums release dates at the music stores around here and he had left 3-6 mafia and that album sold like 200 thousand underground.
Salute to the interviewer for actually making the interview about the artist, and not about the radio station promotion.
B High needs more recognition as an interviewer, anytime I click an interview and find out he did it I immediately know its going to be in depth, sincere and professional, keep it up man💯

DJ Paul and 3Six were so down to earth and respectfull. They really supported Memphis businesses including ours which was black owned

I remember when I first saw mystic stylez in store. we wanted to check it out but was scared it might suck, so we stole that shit. minds blown when we heard it. I've since bought 2 copies of the cassette and 3 copies of the CD. still this day it remains one of my favorite albums of all time.

Evil Pimp just straight up steals Memphis artists style like K-Rock, Lord Infamous, and and Project Pat. It's one thing to use the Memphis sound but you can't just straight up take peoples whole style, annunciation, cadence, and delivery.

First off, this interview was great, love to see a host that actually lets his guest speak. I grew up in a crazy time and can say Three 6 was a big influence on me when I was deep in the streets. I remember living like the songs stated. Besides all that crazy nonsense, DJ Paul is a humble cat with an eloquent way of expressing his journey. Best wishes always for this guy and his crew. True rags to riches story.
Paul and Juice are the real Kings of Memphis. Ball&G are the OGs... the pioneersm... they made Memphis a staple in Southern music, but 3-6 took Memphis outside of the South in a major way. They don't get the credit they deserve... they really don't. They help create Crunk/Buck music. I was such a big ass Bone Thugs-N-Harmony fan, that I took their beef with 3-6 seriously. So I refused to listen to their music. I'm so glad I was ahead of my friends and the main hip hop heads at the time. The first few times after hearing 3-6 I knew they were different. DJ Paul sampled lots of Willie Hutch and had some of the best beats. Project Pat had the most original style (I know lots will say Lord Emph), and everyone else went so hard.
