Thanks for doing this series and appreciate the situation/emphasis on the price-to-"quality" ratio when it's needed for each manufacturer. stay safe mate
Thank you for introducing me to these shoes. I appreciate how pragmatic you are about quality-to-price ratio. I am always looking for the most value in shoes so I may give these a try. Best of luck with the new store.
I just bought the CNES40 Oxford with medalion and fiddleback sole and am impressed with workmanship, especially for the price.I found the sizing on this model to be true to size as I am normally a big 41 and was a 41 in this style. The styling was very modern and a I am happy with my purchase
@@theshoesnob_official May i ask if you are refering to 40 CNES size or EU size? There is quite weird chart of sizes in their site Based on the chart CNES 40= EU 40, but CNES 43 = 41,5 EU Thank you for the great content, cheers
@@AmigoCarlitoo oh, must be CNES40. I am usually 40.5 EU but they didnt have half sizes so I sized down to "their size 40". And thank you for the kind words!
Congrats on the opening and persevering through the drama. Hope I can visit this summer. I almost pulled the trigger on the CNES but I was unsure of their sizing
I bought the black version of that model, really love the look of them! It has a really elegant design. Big upgrade from my old Cole Haan black dress shoes. Interesting that you sized down, I talked to one of their customer service people and they suggested I go up a bit in size (I'm an 8.5 M on brannock device), since it has a bit of a narrow last I ordered the size 42, and I think its probably the right size(I usually like a snug fit, its not tight but I don't think I could have gone smaller in size). I saw a derby split toe model on their facebook some days ago that looks sharp, and im hoping they put in on their international website soon. Excellent value for the money.

I was talking about the upper leather not the sole leather. What you are referencing is sole leather. 🤦♂️ they use (or at least did years ago) Du Puy for their upper leather . Check your info.
I have some brown reddish shoes with strong brown burnishing as well. I don’t wear them often as I find them too loud. Is this just me or do I simply have to get used to it?
Would you recommend these shoes for daily use. I am a university lecturer and therefore I am walking around the campus often. If so, is there any shoes in particular that you recommended for my price range of 150$-250$ (250 being the absolute maximum).
Hello Albert. I do not recommend any shoe in this world for daily use. A minimum of two pairs rotated, ideally 3, is what I recommend as to not break down your shoes at an exponential rate. Shoes need breaks, like people do. If you get 3 then yes I would recommend this brand for your weekly rotation.
@@theshoesnob_official Thank you. This is a mistake on my behalf as i should have mentioned that i have a pair of relatively cheap office shoes already so they would be worn in fact on a 2 day rotation (probably less than the cheaper ones i have to preserve them). You mentioned in this video, CNES have a entry level line and a premium line, how do i distinguish the two.
@@albertozito7737 their handwelted line will be their new premium line. The ones sub $200 are the lower end ones and the ones around $270 are the ones from this video, regular welted. And ues the mid range line I would recommend for semi daily use. But not the cheaper ones
Justin, just curious... what do you do with the shoes you display here? do you keep them for yourself? give them away to some friend? send them back to the factory/store?...??
Thanks for the review, will appreciate if you could improve the audio and overall quality of your video, it looked quite casual and like someone has forced you to do a review 😂. A general feedback from one of your viewer. Very difficult to understand (with normal volume) what were you saying (which was annoying). Take care

CNES shoes are cheap.... but remember YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR. I bought a pair of CNES shoes (style CNS105; vegetable tanned) a few months ago. The only good things I can about them are: 1. they look presentable at a distance, and 2. they are cheap for goodyear welt shoes.... that's all. i) The shoes are not comfortable to walk with where my feet slide forward in the shoes so they squeeze my toes, because your feet are not cetre balanced in the shoes. ii) The colour is unevenly applied on parts of the shoes. iii) The leather gives off a disguesting smell that never goes away, and the smell appears to the result of unproperly treated leather. Look out for the above-mentioned issues when you try shoes from CNES. My black calf oxford from Enzo Bonafe costs 3 times more than my CNES... and guess what... I over paid for my CNES.
Thanks for sharing Alex. I didnt notice about the smell although that often goes away hence not mentioning it. But yes, you always get what you pay for. But some dont care to spend large amounts on shoes, unfortunately.
I appreciate the fact you are secure enough in your own work to highlight other makers. Beautiful work.
Thank you for those kind words and apologies for this late comment.

Burnishings can sometimes be loud...just depends on the maker and the burnish...some are subtle and look much better
Justin, are these the BR1 Balmoral Oxfords? They look great!
They are the BQ1 actually
Can't wait to checkout the new store once all of this craziness ends.
Yes indeed! I look forward to it

A bit of all of the above and sell them too if I dont want to keep them.
is CNES the same as Fugashin Shoemaker? Btw, I am not a fan of this Berluti styled patina...just ugly as hell. Solid colors are so much better.
I do not know to be honest but would not be surprised if they came from the same factory
Nice shoes but expensive shipping fees
