    Ah, a non-Aussie talking about RB30s. Good luck on your efforts, we've been doing this shit for decades. And honestly, people don't really bother building 25/30s anymore unless they want to have the flex of saying they have a 30DET. Because a big single turbo RB30ET will do big numbers and be responsive just fine.

    Wow so much incorrect information here and good luck finding a 100 000km block. Even a 400 00km block is still ok to use if it has been looked after. RB30 oil restrictors are 1.8mm not 2.2mm. You CAN use a series1 block PRP sell an adapter plate for it. The R31 Skyline was the first to be equipped with the RB30 before it was sold to Holden. It has been long proven that the "head oil drain" is actually a breather to help equalize the pressure between the block and head There is lots of information on Skylines Australia forum about this I would not connect it to the turbo oil drain side. I have never had to cut material off the water pump to get the cam belt tensioner to fit. Cometic head gaskets on your oil cooler?? RB26 head is far more superior to a neo head. You do NOT need RB20 cams in a RB25de head the RB25de cams perform well on a RB30det. You do not need a 5mm spacer for the exhaust manifold which is why you can't find one. You grind material off the block, it's in the RB30 pdf file you have there.

      What you said about the RB26 head being far superior just isn't true. The castings on the rb25de, rb25det and rb26 heads are nearly identical. The things that make the 26 head great is the hardware. Stock oil restrictors are 2mm.

    I’ve built a few rb25/30s, you’re better off giving the head drain it’s own return to the sump. You really shouldn’t use the turbo return line as a lot of oil will be flowing down the return and it can prevent the turbo return from worki

      @Automobile Addict pretty sure you misunderstood me. I said they made the rb30 for holden not meaning exclusively for holden. Was stating the holden never made the rb30. Nissan did. So no shit its in nissans

      @@anarchyr32 fact, in the late 80's holden kept running and revising the 202 (red motor) and since fuel was getting more expensive and holden couldn't keep up with the times and make a 6cyl that wasn't a fuel gussler leaded beast, they asked nissan to design an EFI 6cyl economical engine, and nissan then returned with the RB30E, holden then asked nissan to produce a more powerful engine and nissan then came up with the RB30ET, but this wasnt produced untill the later on in 86, you can see this on earlier series 1 RB30's as they dont have any revision's in the block for oil, coolant and turbo drain. All series 2 blocks in VL's have this, as with all R31 and patrol blocks. so all in all holden actually started the RB30 in the VL's first then nissan started to chuck them in Nissan's in the Australian market, the RB30 was only going to be in holden vehicles in the very early stages.

    That is crazy expensive just for the block you can get a running R31 with this engine in Australia for the same price for a decent one but I've seen some go for only a few hundred bucks but they are going up in value now.

    How did you choose pistons having in mind neo head chamber is smaller in CCs.

      All based on what compression ratio you want. But you can use Rb25neo pistons for a Rb25neo in a rb30 block since they have the same stock bore diameters.
