    I'm pretty sure I watched this the day it came out. I've watched it several times since. In 2013 I had a Camaro and I was saving up for a 911. It felt like I'd never get enough saved up. I finally bought my car in 2019. It took me more than 6 years!! My car was made in 2012. It lived in Hollywood at the time you made this video. Now it's mine. Pretty incredible feeling!!

    Very helpful. Can't believe porche's own website doesn't give this detail and the salesmen don't have time to go through it. Love the ending, Nick's 911 lol

    This was one of the best detailed reviews I've ever seen, hands down. The clarity, the attention to detail and a real hands on view of questions we have. Outstanding video. Subscribed.

    Sport cars or super cars that have rear wipers are so damn cool. It’s a vibe, there’s something awesome about a fast car that can also be practical and smart. I love the 911.

    Hi Nick, At the risk of redundancy but in the spirit of sincere appreciation let say your video on the lesser known Porsche 2014 991 / 911 options was very informative. I have been overwhelmed with the option possibilities on the Carerra 4S Coupe. Your video detailed options my dealer was at a loss to fully explain. Your video also helped me to eliminate one option I had considered, illuminated door sills.
    I recommended your video to another potential 991 / 911 owner. Please keep up the awesome work mate!

    Thanks for going over some of these small details that are typically overlooked! And I like that you picked up the rear wiper. No brainer IMO, too. I had it on my 996TT and it was paramount for driving in snow.

    Nick, on your advise from this video I did get most of these options on my 911 C4S last year. Well, not the illuminated door sills! I can't agree more about the sunroof, in a Cab or Targa you'd get the daylight on nice days but in Chicago forget it, it's dark in the car most days I suspect with those retractable roofs. My sunroof is rarely open but the glass always allows the light in and it is great. Worth every penny for that option; it looks nice on the car as well. Folding mirrors worked out well and I have avoided a few scrapes some of the other 911 owners in the garage have noted on the edges of their mirrors. I got the rear wiper and am really happy with it. On slow commutes in snow and rain it keeps rear visibility excellent and I don't think it hurts the lines too much. I'm am a bit torn on the multifunction steering wheel, shifters aren't as easy to use as the paddles but i do love the scroll wheels, the new multifunction wheel in the 2015 looks like they've fixed all that, paddles are back. I got the voice command module, not too useful, not really ready for prime time but makes nav system entries on the go easy enough. I have the 14 way seats, 18 way seats were a bit uncomfortable but I can see the need to adjust bolsters at times. Didn't like the plastic backs however on those. Have the Bose sound system, never listened to the Burmeister but I've "heard' its wonderful, but 5K for it? I'm maybe not that much of an audiophile. Anyway, love my 911 and thanks for your advice, it came in very handy at option buying time.

      Hi Michael, I am glad the video helped. I am looking to order my next 911 soon and will get these options again as well. The wiper is not popular here in the US but I find it so useful.

    • @michaelbrown8653

      Nick Murray What I really would love option-wise is the new rear view camera. When you get your next 911 would you option that? I had them on my two prior Infiniti's and I miss it, particularly when I try to back out my assigned spot in the parking garage between a Chevy Suburban and a Range Rover...like in a canyon...The radar sensors help but nothing beats a rear view camera for getting out safely.

    Another awesome video, Nick ! I find it hard to choose between the Sport and the Multifunction Wheel...In the 911, Cayman and Boxster I want the Sport Wheel...But today I picked up a Cayenne GTS for my next review and I hate the Sport Wheel in it. I really wished I could controll the radio on the wheel...Strange, isn't it ? ... The Sport Techno Wheels are just gorgeous. By far my favourite wheels :)

      For those dealing with PDKs, the ideal solution would be the 918-inspired Macan's MF steering wheel with padleshifters as it combines the best of both worlds. The current MF wheel still found on most Porsche cars looks totally outdated in my opinion, nearly identical to that on my ex 2008 997.

    An option I turned down (well technically not an option offered by porsche but the dealership) was a clear bra. I didn't feel it was needed but I made a major mistake by not adding it to my 2013 991 S. I've noticed the cars paint seems a bit thin or soft to me--in that the car chips more easily than other cars I've owned. Im not certain why but if you are reading this be certain to get one--you'll be glad you did.

    • @NickMurray
      @NickMurray  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      FroopieLoopies is correct. Where ever I did not get the clear bra my car is collecting chips at an alarming rate. The paint on these cars is a little soft.

    IMO the exterior rear wiper ruins the clean lines. And if I ever optioned PDK... which I wouldn't but... I would need to get the 'proper' paddleshifters. I had a 981 Boxster in Stuttgart recently with the buttons. Wrong wrong wrong.

    You can do whatever you want with your money, but i really don't like that wiper and the steering wheel... Lots of designers struggled to create a too beautiful design for adding a bulky thing there....that's a 911-passion & motorsport history- not an SUV and it is very obvious that you're regretting too much your m3. Good choice with sport chrono package...anyway, nice video!!!

    Good video. There are a few more options that make living with 991 easier ... and although most cars that I have driven in last 10 years had them as standard, Porsche has them on the options list. First and foremost are the front and rear parking sensors [non standard on 991], the tire pressure sensors [a must with low profile tires]. The third and equally important are dimming interior and exterior mirrors, more so, because this relatively low cost option comes with wiper rain sensor.

    The rear-window wiper is an overlooked option. Though, not available on most other cars and would look odd. Useful but odd looking to have. Should still be an option.
    How often have we all owned cars, driven in the rain or during a snow storm and lost visibility out back? No way to see clearly out back...wished there was a wiper. Would look ridiculous on a sedan. :) Not available on a Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren...etc. It's features like this that does make the 911 an "everyday" hi-end sports car.

    By the way, folding mirrors in combination with the "external mirrors dimming option" .... tilt when you push the gear stick in reverse. Something that you were probably used to on M3. With Porsche, in some parts of the world, you might have to ask your dealer to program it for you. The way Porsche is going, I am actually surprised that they don't charge extra for the electric windows

    Very interesting video..,I totally agree with the rear wiper option (impossible to see out of when covered with grime and during heavy rain) and the great glass sunroof. Just makes me wonder why you didn't just get the Carrera 4S model for a another 8-12K..looks the bizz with the wide stance too. Safe driving.

    • @NickMurray
      @NickMurray  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      C2S vs C4S was the hardest decision I had to make and it did not come down to the money. I prefer the look of the C4S but in the end I enjoy RWD antics too much. I will most likely get a Turbo as some point and I think I will miss the RWD but we will see.

    • @TheHayabusa09
      @TheHayabusa09 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome!! Just hope you get the Turbo S with all the fruit rather than speccing a 'regular' Turbo!

    • @NickMurray
      @NickMurray  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheHayabusa09 Once again I think I will surprise most and go the other way. I don't like most of the extras on the Turbo S. Ceramic brakes I can take or leave, I prefer the standard turbo wheels, I much prefer the Xeon lights, and I am no fan of the plastic carbon fiber inside. So really I would be paying $30,000 extra for 40hp. Who knows it will be some time away yet. I am so happy with the C2S.

    To me, the most important option of all like some have mentioned here is the Sport Steering Wheel. The Multi-function Steering Wheel or changing gears from the stick is just totally counter-intuitive and in my opinion it will destroy the entire driving experience. Pressing a button to change up just doesn't feel right, it reminds me of an old Alfa 156 Selespeed that I drove.

    Is the dimple in the back seat an optional extra?
    The rear seat lights are in the wrong place, they should be on the sides. Not a fan of the PDK logo on the steering wheel. The sunroof switch would be better on the roof near the mirror. Not too sure about Porsche design sometimes. But good review, useful for any one looking to buy one of these.

    Question on the sound system. Gapless playback. This is when listening to a live album (i.e.: Depeche Mode 101 or Supertramp Paris... yes I'm dating myself) and the playback does not break between songs. Upon searching the internet, the automotive industry apparently has not integrated gapless playback into their audio systems. I was an iPhone user up to a year ago and iPhone did not embrace gapless playback. Since going to Android, there are music players apps (poweramp) that do have this feature integrated. I went to our local auto show and brought a USB flash drive with live albums and dance compilation albums on it and tried it in several manufactures to find gaped playback. (Gap as in up to 1/4th of a second silence while it change mp3 files.) I was curious if the $5K Burmester gets you gapless playback. Or any of the other models/audio options you have as loaners you knew handle this feature.

    I just purchased a 991 a few weeks ago and am having issues maintaining my personal settings. The time will change randomly as will some settings and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to keep the base and treble settings constant for bluetooth and XM. Reading the manual has not been beneficial. It would be awesome to see a video on how to personalize the settings as I just find the manual to be damn near useless. Thanks and please keep us informed on your issues with your 991.

    • @NickMurray
      @NickMurray  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am sure you know this already but just in case you don't. The radio settings are custom for every input, if you adjust XM it will not adjust FM or iPod or anything else they all need to be adjust individually, then to add to the confusion every setting in the car is individual to the key you are using so if you adjust everything then use the other key every thing will reset to that keys previous setting. I hope this helps. Nick

      @scotts2873 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the response. Yes, I do know that and have adjusted the tuner, XM, and iPod, but only the tuner keeps the settings where I last had them. Then on top of that every few days the time changes randomly. I am taking the car in next week so I will have them take a look. Thanks again.

But whatever I configure on the website I don't get any colored stitching. Its all black or all brown for me. Might sound stupid but thats really a big issue for me :D

    Oh one more thing, I definitely would have gone for the Power Kit to push the output to 430 HP. What else ? Did you also add the sports exhaust ?

    Hi Nick, thanks for the video. Do you ever hit those gear switches on the steering wheel by mistake during spirited driving?

    After owning a few 911's the rear wiper isn't that important (in my opinion.) Step on the gas and it cleans the window itself! In addition, it breaks the design lines of the car.

      Nicholas Clifton what if you're parking in the rain? going backwards for example? wouldn't it be handy?

    Great, I've added the illuminated sills too. Love the blueish ambient light. I see you have the keyless Entry & Drive option aswell. How do you like it? (the only thing that is holding me back is the plastic dummy key)

    All this extra crap probably added 300 lbs to your sports car.
