I feel in love with the class (Formula Renault) originally because it had two rules. Spec Ford has pretty much the same two rules. 1: You could paint the car any color you wanted. 2: You couldn't do anything else.
How much do the different race classes cost for a weekend of racing? Tires, engine, fuel, brake pads, gearbox, etc. SCCA Spec Racer Ford Gen 3 is one of the less expensive, at $263 per hour on track for the above items. $878 for a typical race weekend, including a Friday practice. Plus entry fees, travel, food, hotel, etc, which are the same between classes. A new SRF3 would be about $50,000, but you can get a used one for about $30,000 to $35,000. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AbsliOHCsfw1KptLNZ0-0nz5dmdW0UzM1GQ-PnCHBGA/edit?usp=sharing
I wonder how maintenance costs are and how long a set of tires last? SPEC racing is almost never truly SPEC unless the rules and tech guys are doing their job. I've not seen many places where every nut and bolt are looked over. Looks like a blast if you have tracks near you though!

Better be really good at cheating if you want to run up front.
