If you really think about it, the tools and options for the SL prim editor were very daunting to learn being a first time user of Second Life / Open Sim many years ago. Understandably the tools for Blender are just as daunting to the first time user of Blender. I had nobody to hold my hand and walk me through the beginning days of SL in 2006. Thank you so very much for your step by step tutorials. They really are a blessing.

This is the best introduction to Blender's interface I've seen-and I've seen a lot of them. It is well paced and clearly explains various elements that you usually have to garner from several introductions. Good job! You make the cliff that is Blender's "learning curve" into something I believe I can climb.

I was really scared to even think about trying Blender, being that I'm not so skilled at this kind of thing. So glad that the first thing I did before I even opened it was to search youtube for a tutorial and this is the first one that came up in my search. Very much appreciate you making this, Haven, and I'll be watching more of your videos soon. Your explanations are clear and really helped me relax and feel comfortable jumping into learning Blender!

i know this is an old course, but thank you so much for creating it ♥ you are explaining blender in a very beginner friendly way and compared to other blender tutorials i tried to watch this is not confusing or overwhelming and very informative :3 really good work :3

Haven you are the greatest tutorial teacher ever! I have been trying to learn Blender now for a week and have watched 100 tutorials and none of them come close to yours! THANK YOU so much!
One thing that drives me crazy about beginner tutorials on youtube is that most people that make them rush. They also tend to click a bunch of things without saying what they clicked, while we sit here scratching our heads trying to figure it out. You take your time and explain everything, and its a huge help!
I also like how you don't have your video going while explaining. Now granted, you have an extremely sexy voice and I'm sure everyone would want to see your face, but not while its in a window over things we need to learn how to click.
Now, like I said, I have watched a bunch of others. But even on this first video. you explained a bunch that every other person left out on theirs. PLEASE make more Blender videos in the future!
I have subscribed and will looking forward to them. I am also going to try a few of your recipes that I looked at too ;)
I would love for you to make one on the Archimesh add on if at all possible.

Outstanding explanation of the interface, and very encouraging for someone who knows what they're doing to admit the whole thing can be overwhelming at the beginning instead of assuming everybody knows what you know already. Why would I need a tutorial video if I already knew, right? Thank you for taking the time to make the video series! I've learned a lot already. Much appreciated!!!!! :)

Just watched the first video tutorial of this series and I'm very pleased with the pace of your talk. It is literally the first tutorial I found not rushing things at high speed as if you'ld have to pay per minute of watching. For me as a non native english speaker it is very helpful the way you do it. I'm really looking forward for the next tutorial(s) and will be glad if time allows you to add even more to this collection. Thank you very much :-)

thank you you are incredible, you take your time explaing in detail, i have had blender 6 months now and could never follow tutorials, went to fast, didn't show where they were clicking and being a beginner looking at beginner tutorials i got so fustrated i uninstalled blender, first time watching you explained all i had been asking for months with no answer, i highly recommend any beginner to watch this before or right after you open blender for the first time, again thank you, hope you will get into modeling so i can understand what to do and how to make it low poly yet still look good.

I'm so pleased this is still on here! It's a long time ago since 2014 and at the time I started to go through these tutorials, unfortunately life events took me away. I think this is the best tutorial on the basics, and I do hope you'll start again on the latest Blender version. 💖

You are a great tutor. Very well explained. I have watched others elaborate on the complexity of this software and I only get confused. I am seasoned in Photoshop and actually thought it would be a breeze to learn this program. I believe that you are the only one that makes since to me. Thanks a lot for the well-detailed video. I look forward to more content from you. :)

This is great! It's the only beginning Blender tutorial that I've been able to stick with all the way through. I'm sure that part of it is Haven's fully developed courseware and teaching style. It also might be that I can use the exact same version of Blender, so that the video doesn't refer to things that I don't see on my version of Blender. I just *might* be able to finally whup this program!

Haven, thank you so much for this series. I have tried a couple of other tutorials (including one of yours) and had to give up because I was getting so frustrated. It seemed that I was constantly looking up "how to do xyz in Blender" because people forget to name the keys :) Part of the problem could be my old keyboard, but i will deal with that. My question for you is how do you change the background of your 3D Viewport to that blue? I am not sure what the Preferences' name for that part is... (it doesn't seem to be "background").

First of all, thanks for the video!
I've been in SL for about 2 1/2 years now, and I'm looking to break into creation. I've recently developed a passion for fashion (hey, that rhymes!), after learning about and acquiring a few different mesh bodies. Now that I have them, I'd love to learn to create for them, and have succeeded in securing developer kits.
The only problem I've run into is actually importing the mesh bodies into blender in order to design clothes and things around the models. I know this is definitely a newbie problem, and I'm probably just getting in my own way here, but is there an easy way to do this? Either just importing the mesh feet to make shoes, or the mesh bodies to model clothing? I've read all about the Avastar add on, but that seems to only work for the system body. Any tips would be *greatly* appreciated.
Also, my apologies for the novel in your comments section. : )

I'm more of an intermediate blender user but I still started this series from part 1 and I plan on watching them all because your teaching style is so pleasant and concise. I even learned some new things from the first video!
I found your channel while looking for a tutorial on the Upload Model window in Second Life. Specifically how the level of detail and physics settings effect the model's land impact and deformation at distance. Do any of your videos cover this and if not would you consider making one?
