  • The Autel AP200 has many features beyond reading and clearing codes. In this video I dive in to the live data and talk briefly about some of it, how I find it useful, and what sensor is supplying the data.
    FloridaVanMan is member supported, offering one-on-one help and advice online, in-person and via video. I aim to help each member save double the cost of membership. We show the novice how to change motor oil and why our vans are different from any other car they've owned, with color coded dipsticks. For the more experienced we show diagnostic tests explained in layman terms with common supplies, not expensive Mercedes shop tools. For those just getting started we show what to look for when buying a van. And for those at the other end of the road we help find the next adventurer looking to buy your van.

    Hey, thanks for the great video. I'm going to go get one of these myself. My question is there is a wrench on the side of each item. If you click that wrench can you then activate the item that is selected? Such as can I turn the auxiliary heater on or I have the high idle option, Can I lower that from 2000 RPM down to any set RPM, I want using this tool? I also want to disable my daytime running lights so at night time I can just turn the lights off. Can I do that using this?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, none of that. The AP200 is only a code reader*. We need DAS or DRBIII to enable cruise or high idle and the RPMs are not usually variable in a T1N. The wrench icon will allow you to change some displays from psi to bar and Fahrenheit to Celsius, look at graphs of current displays, but that's about all.

    Great video once again!
    ? The “skeem” issue that you stated was under the top of the dashboard, can that be diagnosed with this scan tool?
    Thank you FVM!

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Partially yes. A scan tool or code reader can only give clues. Diagnosis is a human process of evaluating the clues. The AP200 will tell if the SKREEM gets authorization or not, with a simple "yes/no". From there we determine if the chip may have fallen out of a key fob or fuse has blown disrupting power to the SKREEM. Only after eliminating those and other possibilities can we blame the SKREEM itself. I offer ECM sets including SKREEM and key chip for installing to verify all symptoms are resolved and keep the van in service while your parts are sent for repair.

    @FloridaVanMan I'm having a strange issue and I'm hesitant to start the Sprinter for live data. I have a 2006 T1N. Wondering if I should buy the Autel AP200 or get a beefier Autel?
    Last time I tried to drive van, the following happened. Happened almost immediately after pulling out of the driveway. 1) throttle revved without my putting pressure on the pedal. Like it had a mind of it's own. 2) heard a light metal on metal tapping sound for maybe 5 seconds. Loud enough to get me to pull over and shut the engine down quickly. 3) engine exhaust began smoking dark blue/black color.
    Obviously, I quickly shut the motor off and inspected the engine compartment. Nothing obvious inside the engine compartment (like oil splashed everywhere). Let vehicle sit for an hour. Came back and restarted it and moved in 100 feet back into its parking spot. No sound or smoke when I moved it back. Weird to me. I did notice a small pool of oil after moving the vehicle from the original position of shut down. Maybe 1/8-1/16 of a quart.
    Van has sat in its parked spot for 4 days and no dripping oil. Long story short, I don't want to start the van, but I want to get the most amount of scan data I can get. I'm happy to spend more than the AP200 cost if it gives me more diagnostic data, but if you deem it unnecessary, I'll happily save money. Thoughts?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      More expensive and detailed tools will take a while to learn how to use and even then, the test results are not as simple as grades on a report card. Sounds like you had a "diesel runaway" that may have been caused by failing injector. Be very careful and prepared going forward. Turning off the key may not stop the engine next time, if this happens again. Be prepared with tools ready to clamp off the fuel supply line and for BEST precaution have a Co2 fire extinguisher nearby. We do NOT want to use dry powder or wet extinguishers, but Co2 will displace any fuel-air without destroying the engine.
      My first step would be an injector test with the cam sensor unplugged. Search my videos for "leak-off".

      If you setup the device per our video instructions there are no fees or renewals needed. If you choose the wrong vehicle package first a second vehicle will cost $20/yr renewal. I have had my original dongle about 4 years and never paid for anything after purchase on Amazon. I selected the vehicle package "Benz_Sprinter" and that is what many people do wrong, trying to match the brand on their title. Benz_Sprinter is the only vehicle package that works correctly for our vans.

    Great video!!! I have one question. On the live sensor view the intaje air temperature sensor you stated was the sensor right under the MAF on the air filter. However according to manuals thats a pressure sensor not temperature. Im having issues with my van where that sensor in autel app is reading 50+ degrees celsius and i cant find what sensor it actually goes to to change it. Any ideas? Really appreciate any help and keep up the videos!!

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've definitely confused that sensor a few times. The intake pressure sensor is on the lid of the air filter box. The intake temperature sensor, also called boost temperature sensor is on the other side near the boost pressure sensor, close to the left headlight. We also have an important temperature sensor under the front bumper and that will display temperature with the dash clock. If it displays "----" dashes replace sensor and inspect wires. If that sensor is too close to the radiator it will display very warm, maybe around 50 degrees celsius.

      @timdunn5991 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for getting back so quick! I'm going to subscribe to your patreon when I get home. I still am confused however. In the app live feed there's a boost temp sensor and an IAT section. The boost temp sensor is working great. However my IAT shows the high temp. In your live feed in this video the IAT shows a normal temp and is separate from the boost temp sensor. When I unplug the boost temp sensor that predictably changes that reading in the autel app but not the intake reading. I can't find anywhere a separate temp sensor other then the ambient one and that reads fine. Is this just an issue in the autel app? Where is your live feed getting it's IAT reading from?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@timdunn5991 You raise tough questions that I thought I knew the answers to, but now I'm unsure. The intake air shown here temp may come from the MAF. Have you tested your MAF. I'm able to enter the eobd general part and later once in the benz_sprinter application I can only enter the "Engine Control Module", i'm having trouble to enter the others. Let's see if someone else is having the same issues and can fix them.
    The only way i manage to enter is MANUAL SELECTION -> SPRINTER -> 901.6; 902.6; 903.6..........> and now, as i Have a cable that converts from 14 pins to obd2 I think that my final choose should be OBD2, but not sure. And about the country, i'm only able to enter de "Engine Control Module" if I select USA as a coutry.
    Let's hope someone has the same issues, becasuse this way i'm not able to enjoy all the options from the autel.

      I'm not familiar with the rain sensor but turning off auto-lock is going to require more than a code reader. I can do it with DRBII tool I acquired from a closed dealership. Others can do it with DAS. I've read of a way to do it without any tools but I think that is a temporary fix like the old Nintendo trick, up down up down left right left right start, for an extra life. It only works until you reset the key.
      You need the key on for most code reading features.

      I see this often and I'm not clear what causes it. In one case it seemed to resolve itself before shipped part arrived. If your van is 2004-2006 tart by testing the MAF like this th-cam.com/video/3nylx7bZO0g/w-d-xo.html
      Patience may be key and 50 miles of driving might be necessary after repair* before results are noticed. There is a story I've written a few times I call The Giggle Drive. It is about the time I had this problem and after trying everything (except long test drives) I had given up and parked the van. I needed* to drive it about a week later and within 100 miles I was giggling about the restored power my van hadn't had in YEARS.
      If the MAF test passes, EGR will be my next place to look. If replacing the MAF or EGR and driving 50 miles still doesn't get the value changing I would find a friend with DAS to perform an "Intake Adaptive Setting Reset".
