I played minor hockey with Brad May in Markham, we played house league midget hockey and the next year or two he is in the O and then made the show. Pretty incredible
Wow, it’s crazy that this podcast was released either on the day of or day after Rick Jeanneret passed. I’m 36 now and it was the 93 season of the May Day goal when I first started playing hockey and watching the Sabres. Rick Jeanneret made me love playing and watching the Sabres. We are all really feeling it in Buffalo. This episode was incredible and I’m glad May got to raise the cup. RIP Rick Jeanneret.
Mr. Nilan.....love your show. Its so nice to see "tough guys" coming across respectable and well spoken. Take care from a WHA Cleveland Crusaders and Penguins fan from NE Ohio.
At 50 now I want to thank all you guys. Was great watching you play as a kid, Chris, and Brad you were a classic. Great memories watching you in Buffalo
Wow. A very surprising interview. I had no idea he was such a nice and humble man. And smart. I'm sure he was a great teammate. I've grown up a Bruins fan. I hated Chris Nilan and Brad May. Yet, I'd pick them as teammates everyday of the week. Both gave their heart and souls to their teams and to protect their players. My favorite player Bruin of all time is Terry O'Reilly. What was fun to hear is both Chris and Brad saying they were Bruins fans and one of their favorite players, if not favorite, was Terry O'Reilly. Very cool interview. I would have loved to hear him say more about his favorite opponents and more about the more memorable fights he had over the years.
@@MontrealJunior I know man I kid you not I heard about Rick Jeanneret. And not even 2 minutes later watching this around 9:00 p.m. Eastern they were talking about the May Day Goal I must admit it gave me goosebumps
@@johnc94 It was an amazing call from a broadcaster I had admired even before that moment. It was a terrific memory for habs fans, but the job was not done yet vs Québec. It felt good, coming back down 0-2 to tie it at 2-2, knowing Buffalo and not Boston was waiting for Round 2.
Chris I hated you as player mainly because you beat up my Penguins. But your podcast are great to watch. There are the guys I watched growing up and to hear and see them today is great. You do such a nice job interviewing these guys
First thanks agsin for the great chat tim, chris snd brad. Best of thoughts to you brad with the loss of your big bro and recently Rj in Buffalo. Great to see the cover ripped off the book. I mean that as tough guys who fought, seen away from the rink and sometimes at their job, positive, thoughtful, leaders amongst their peers.Breaks the stigma many see of a tough guy. Many to most are great ppl. Brads veiw on his brother's view of the family just great. Remember the loved ones lost be happy and keep living fwd. The stories of Babcock, Messier and coach Q awesome stuff. So heart warming to hear Babs welcome and help the idea of Brads son to be a big part of the trip and include him in practices, just awesome. Love these chats the honesty , real life stories , trials and journys to find each persons better version of themselves as chris lives by is tremendous. Keep your sticks on the ice , great work as always!! Ghg!!
Chris Nilan is the headmaster at the school of hard knucks.

Cette entrevue est fantastique. Great Job Guys. I don't know too much Brad May but its communication skills are top and the way he speaks, a Franco like me can understand everything.
MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.......Awesome interview Tim and Chris. Keep on Doing This...........I will be in Montreal starting on the 15th at the football game. Then the town for 2 nights.
don't worry about the push back from talking about Quenville. Someone somewhere has to tell the truth - at least you're trying. If we love the game we have to.
It is so obvious - I honestly am at a complete loss where these other people are coming from - it doesn't make any sense. I fully admit that I knew Joel pretty well coming up - and he was a great guy always has been.
My favorite fighter was Ken Baumgartner. Always wanted to know what May was thinking when he went in for that punch while Bomber was down and out? Also wondered what was said to get them double minors so Mike Gartner wouldn't get a 3rd man into an altercation game misconduct. Who said what to keep Mikey in the game? He mentioned that things worked out after the Boogaard fight. That's good. I figured he was pissing blood for a week or so after those body shots.
Ken took a Run at Brad from behind Looking for his usual "jump" start aka as the Brian Curran SO Brad let him know with that extra shot. Ken deserved it.
May was tough as iron but his sucker punch of Kim Jonsson was one of the dirtiest things I've seen watching hockey over 45 years. WTF? Yeah, he and his good buddy Bertuzzi.
Brad may was one of my favorite players, I enjoyed the way he played. I was hoping the flyers would get him . Never happened. I don't follow the sport anymore because there are no brad May's or rob ray's in the league. It's going to take getting rid of the commissioner for the league to bounce back
Was Absolutely disgusted when John Shannon threw Brad under the Bus Live on Air calling him a good when Brad had retired was trying Broadcasting Out. Brad was ALL Class but imo he should have decked John live on Air.
this podcast must have been before Babcock asked that kid to look at his phone !!!.....if not......I thought that blemish was, his 2nd chance !!!!....but there are a lot of ex NHL players that know how he thinks...they say he's a narcissist....I never liked the guy, some of the things he did to some players was downright wrong and a bully move !!!!!...It was like he had a deathwish ....!!!....
RIP Rick Jeanneret 🇨🇦🎉. Much Love 💗
Mayday Mayday Mayday. Another great podcast by Chris and Tim. Brad’s a pretty articulated dude. He’s healthy funny and grateful for what he had.
so sad Rick Jeanneret broadcaster died yesterday!☹

Brad's MAYDAY OT goal against the Boston Bruins in 1993 was one of the nicest goals I have ever seen

What a great guy and very down to earth and when he was on the ice it made everybody play like they were 2 inches taller.
Brad May: mean as a rattlesnake on the ice, one of THE nicest guys ever off the ice.
Mr. Nilan.....love your show. Its so nice to see "tough guys" coming across respectable and well spoken. Take care from a WHA Cleveland Crusaders and Penguins fan from NE Ohio.
These 3 would make an awesome character line on any team. Love the show guys.

Just another tremendous podcast.. thank you for the awesome personalities that played the game when I was younger.. such a great podcast..
Listening to Brad talk, it's easy to understand why he had such a long and successful career.

Brad has insight that all fans of the game should hear , thanks
Great episode Tim and Rocket. Mayday is clearly a class act and represents the best of hockey
Great episode, knuckes
This is so great to hear the insights into the game! Love your interviews Chris and Tim!
Great piece...always liked May...would love to have had him here in Boston....good stuff fellas.
Awesome as usual Chris. You never disappoint. Great interview . Love this podcast. Keep more of the old guys coming.
I was watching this interview and then I heard the news Rick Jeanneret Just passed away R I P RJ
The timing, the memories. RIP RJ

Another one off my wish list ...🙌...but you guys need to start inviting more goalies over.....
These are championship interviews!
Agree 100%. Nick would be a much needed addition on the team to share the load with Arber.
Another fun one. Who new Mayday was such a cool dude.
Quincy guys that's me. Great interview..

My favorite one so far! Love MayDay
Howdy Chris, have you considered an interview with 'Dennis Polonich'. I'd love to hear the circumstances concerning him and Wilf Paiement.
Im a Rangers fan but still tear up remembering that goal...and the call was one of the best
Going to be some good Mayday and Rob Ray stories.

U guys need to interview Clark it would be great
Too bad Brad and daughter got eliminated from Amazing Race Canada; I was pulling for them eh! Stay well both of you!
May was tough as iron but his sucker punch of Kim Jonsson was one of the dirtiest things I've seen watching hockey over 45 years. WTF? Yeah, he and his good buddy Bertuzzi.
Thats Wendel Clark fight protect teammates and score he could do both and hit
I wonder what they think of the jumping punch like folingo and beiska started.
Personally feel it’s a bit disrespectful to try and one punch in hockey
Neither started it they only benefitted from the televised games era.
Guess he better keep telling that Babcock story lol
Knucks and Mayday! Better? No.

@Brady Tkachuk.
the thoughts on Babcock didnt age well :P
May DAY.....Coyotes!!!
Brad May was tough, but just quite didn't understand why he would hit players while they were down🤔
Brad May sounds like a great guy, but defending the methods of Babcock and saying that Quenneville got a raw deal is a bit much for me.
Was Absolutely disgusted when John Shannon threw Brad under the Bus Live on Air calling him a good when Brad had retired was trying Broadcasting Out. Brad was ALL Class but imo he should have decked John live on Air.
GOON ...moto word changing typo.
I felt the guy was disingenuous. At times just trying to be positive i guess still a great interview

No shade on this story but I'm wondering how or why it is that this only comes out now. What sealed Brad's lips all this time?
Finally good hit in this soft league. Tom Wilson plays the game the way should be played.
