My gramma before she died was a big Leafs fan. My father before he died and myself, Canadiens fans. When my gramma died in 2006 the very next game was vs Toronto. As she was laying in the casket, I went up to her and silent said "were gonna beat you on Saturday". Souray won the game for Montreal with the fake slapshot and slid it in short side. I'll never forget that and couldn't wait for him to be on this podcast.
Wow! This podcast is gold. Kudos to Sheldon for is work on and of the ice. Chris and Tim always the best to shine a light on a different side of hockey players.
One of my all time favorite players for the HABS. Sad to see how Edmonton, his home town, treated him but glad that we always did (Montreal) right by him. Great work on your road to recovery Sheldon! You are a great human being!
One of my favorite Habs growing up. What an awesome interview. Love you Sheldon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, career, upset and down. You're an amazing person.
This was a really great episode. Knucks and Souray have been through so many similar experiences and so could relate on so many subjects. Souray was one of my favourites. Every time Markov used to set him up all my friends used to scream "Souray smash!" I saw him out and about once but he looked like he was in a mood so glad I didn't bother him. But seems like such a good guy. Also, man did that Oilers management and ownership sound horrible.
I'll always remember when Souray and Zdeno Chara came to Sweden during the 2004-05 lockout. The two of them played D for Färjestad and took them all the way to the finals. They would most likely have won the gold if not for Henrik Lundqvist who played against them in the finals (Lundqvist had 3 shutouts in 5 games during that final). So Souray and Chara got the silver instead. Imagine Souray and Chara playing D together, opposing forwards must have been nervous going into Sheldon & Zdeno's end 😄 Souray's stats for Färjestad was pretty good though, in 54 games he had 10 goals, 14 assists, +7 and 194 PIMs. Chara played 46 games and had 13 goals, 20 assists, +27 and 214 PIMs.
What a great interview! Loved the openness and glad SS44 turned things around after a tough ending to his hockey career. Those Habs stories were great. Thank you Chris and Tim.
Great honest human chat. Thanks Sheldon keep er going. Thanks as always Chris and tim . These chats positively change listeners going fwd. Life lessons and great hockey memories. Ghg!😊
Amazing podcast again ! Thanks and great job Chris and Tim ! Nice to hear from Sheldon. I’m a Habs fan and I was a big fan of him and his amazing slap shot! Congrats for your career and the human being that you became Sheldon.
Fantastic Cast, enjoyed it very much! Honestly and from the hearts. It's true, people don't prepare themselves for retirement and to turn it off. Thank you.
awesome pod from the hockey & life standpoint. I have some of the same battles. I love hearing you guys talk about your careers, it's super interesting. Congrats on your hockey achievements
One of the best seasons by a Habs D man ever was Souray in 2006-07. Two goals in particular I remember are the fake slapshot shootout goal vs Toronto and the ot winner one-timer vs Pittsburgh after Crosby turned it over.
great interview guys i live close to elk point (st paul) sheldon knows-friends with some of his family members-glad to hear hes doing good-great new outlook on life....👌
Kevin Lowe is from Lachute not Laval. Best milk shake i ever had was at his family dairy there. Went to school in Montebello on the Ottawa River. I know
Fantastic interview Sheldon was a great player. My buddy Jason Blake would get a run for it jump in the air to hit him and he would just chop the shit out of him. I loved watching them go at it.
Sheldon was one of my favorite players. He is tough as nails and also a humble down to earth guy. A player any team would love to have. Kevin Lowe is from Lachute, not Laval.
Love your podcast gents. Consider hiring a professional to help you with audio & video. It doesn't cost much and would make this so much better, because your content really is that good. ✌
I also remember after the episode of his stand off with the oilers about his health they fired all the medical staff before the start of next season but no apology but I think going too the media too complain you just don’t do.even if he was right.
The guy loves Montreal still seems like. He should of resigned there on a fair offer. Greed is not a good thing is it being happy and paid fair is better. He has proven that to me.
Ken dryden had the most storied career ever knucks played nine games at the end of 71 won the cup and the conn smythe before his rookie year next year wins rookie of the year wins the cup again in 73 takes a year off to go to college wins the cupin his last 4 years i hate that guy

Souray was a great Hab and a true gentlemen. I fixed his vehicle in Edmonton and he gave me an autographed jersey and stick.
Can’t say enough good things about these podcasts!
Genuine, heartfelt. God Bless you guys!

Surprising and great interview Knucks. Loved Sheldon in Montreal.

Hearing Chris try to say "rural" through his Boston accent made my eye twitch 😂
Great career - 758 Games, 109 Goals, 191 Assists, 300 Points, 1145 PIMS!

That was amazing. Thank you Sheldon. I am trying to get to recovery but I am stuck. But that really helped.
ask for help-it's not easy, but there's help out there when you are ready to accept it. Good luck
One of the best seasons by a Habs D man ever was Souray in 2006-07. Two goals in particular I remember are the fake slapshot shootout goal vs Toronto and the ot winner one-timer vs Pittsburgh after Crosby turned it over.
He's one of my favorites.
Incredible interview Chris.
great interview guys i live close to elk point (st paul) sheldon knows-friends with some of his family members-glad to hear hes doing good-great new outlook on life....👌
@BobsUruncle-dl7cs oh ya still is crazy lol
what i wouldn't give to have a player like #44 again. Mr Souray was good solid defenceman wicked shot on our PP. Thanks for bringing him on Chris.
loved watching Souray rip clappers as a young habs fan in nfld
.
boy and he could !
"I had the spigot shut off" ...love that analogy...
My Grand daughter went Arch Bishop Olearry too.
Very inspiring gentlemen
LOVED Souray!
That was fun. I didnt know much about Souray. interesting fella.
Wow that is some stories about Kevin Lowe - it makes sense now as to how successful his tenure was .
Knuckles...Ray Bourque and Lanny McDonald did it but so did Mark Recchi with Boston in 2011. Won the Cup in his final game.
Kevin Lowe is from Lachute not Laval. Best milk shake i ever had was at his family dairy there. Went to school in Montebello on the Ottawa River. I know
Time flies man....wow...I still remember Souray back in the AHL...
that was awesome
He never lost a fight in a Habs uniform.
Fantastic interview
Sheldon was a great player. My buddy Jason Blake would get a run for it jump in the air to hit him and he would just chop the shit out of him. I loved watching them go at it.
Meanest left-hand in hockey .. dude, hurt players when he punched them... crazy shot too.
#goHabsGo
Sheldon was one of my favorite players. He is tough as nails and also a humble down to earth guy. A player any team would love to have. Kevin Lowe is from Lachute, not Laval.
Happy Birthday Senator Nilan
Kevin Lowe is actually from Lachute, not Laval.
What a great D , great powerplay i think they coulda had a cup
I am a Sheldon fan. Good, hard nose, heavy shot.
Love your podcast gents. Consider hiring a professional to help you with audio & video. It doesn't cost much and would make this so much better, because your content really is that good. ✌
Thank you Joe, we are looking into it, appreciate it
Did Sheldon fart at 44:23?

Tim needs to turn a light on
I also remember after the episode of his stand off with the oilers about his health they fired all the medical staff before the start of next season but no apology but I think going too the media too complain you just don’t do.even if he was right.
Knuckles is as real as it comes. Humble, and an absolute good person.
My bf ended up getting signed to NJ and had to use Sheldon's ID to get into the night clubs in New York
Great interview knucks 👊
Gomez?
Toute une entrevue mon ami !❤
There is other Metis Nation settlements on the Prairies we are alll cousins 😊
Some things should be kept in-house , 🤧
Hockey players are the best boston journalists say compared to the other pro teams covering the bruins os the best
The guy loves Montreal still seems like. He should of resigned there on a fair offer. Greed is not a good thing is it being happy and paid fair is better. He has proven that to me.

that 73 year that he took off he finished law school . If I remember correctly he played 8 seasons and won cups in 5 of those seasons.
Sheldon had a wicked slap shot but as a defense man he wasn't.
All that shit coulda been avoided if he just resigned wirh Montreal.
Shoulda stayed in Mtl, him and markov coulda won a cup , Edm ruined him
Tim’s a nice guy,,,, but useless on these podcasts
