I am 68 Y0 with prostate cancer. I bought my behind a brand new Z06 and spec’d it OUT! Took an R8C delivery. Got back to Texas and made a video. That, my friend, was the right choice for me.
We normally have only purchased new vehicles. Four weeks ago I purchased a 2017 C7 Z51 for $54,900. A little on the high end BUT per Carfax, it had only one owner and 7,900 miles. Win!
I ordered my 2024 C8 from Rick Conti last fall and received it in January. I like the fact that I was able to get exactly what I wanted vs having to compromise if buying off of the lot, whether new or used. I got the exterior color and interior colors I wanted. I ordered the HTC,2LT,GT 2 seats, front lift, mag ride, non Z51(not planning to track it). My price was $90k. It was definitely the best decision for me.
Your videos are really entertaining! I'm in VA as well and decided to go new for the cheaper interest rate and the knowledge that I am the original owner, so I know exactly how the car was treated. My 2023 HTC has been trouble free and an absolute blast to drive.
Beautifully articulated and informative video. Bravo Sir….. bravo!!!! I’ve been trying to teach people about depreciation and how to leverage it for years. You did a great job.
We love our 2023 3LT HTC non-Z51 Arctic White with magnetic ride, front lift, performance exhaust, front splitter, black exhaust tips, two tone (black/red) interior and carbon flash painted top, nacelles, low spoiler, mirrors, intake blades, and wheels is the perfect car for us. We will never track it and it’s capable of more performance than we will ever need. Our 2nd Corvette and the best vehicle this 76yo has ever driven. We found it at a local dealer sitting on the showroom floor, it had 5 miles on it and is exactly what I would have ordered except the color and we actually liked this color better. We got it for MSRP and got a very good trade in offer for our 3LT C6 convertible last August. I love seeing the 70th Anniversary etching on the rear window in my rear view mirror when I am driving the best vehicle on the road. Thank You for the excellent videos.
I buy new because of what you said the warranty and everything! But also like you said, two years low mileage, you still got plenty of warranty. That’s a good point!🚗👍
If you are at the point in your life where you are shopping for a car that is close to six figures, go all in with new. What’s a few thousand bucks at this point.
I bought a used 2021 HTC used with only 5000 miles. Saved about $20k versus buying new. Then I Bought GM extended warranty for about $1.3k to cover the car’s powertrain until 2030/60k miles. I’m picky so the hardest part was finding the right car. I found the car exactly how I would have ordered it.
I was going to go new but found a used 2023 2LT HTC Z51 magna-ride with 850 miles. Paid $92k when they going for a premium of $10-$25k. The C8 was spec'ed just the way I wanted. Sticker was $96k. Porsche 911 turbo S was my other option but it was $225k and the C8 was and is the better value. I do not regret the purchase.
Corvettes are different when it comes to first year models. The engineers do a great job of working out the bugs pre- production. I have a 2014 Corvette and have had no issues. You also don't hear about many issues with the 2020s. 😊
I went with a fully loaded used 2021 3LT Z51 HTC. The comparable new vehicle would have been a 2024 1LT coupe with almost no options. It was a no brainer, I love having a HTC, front lift, all the extra speakers, GT2 seats etc. This is my 8th Corvette. I’ve only purchased 2 new. I’ve had 0 problems with any of them. And let’s be honest, the C8 HTC top going up and down is awesome to watch. My previous 7 were all coupes. This is my favorite Corvette so far, however, I’m upset they dropped the manual transmission option:-(
I bought a used 22 LT1 CPO with 13k miles. Got it home noticed all the front gaps were way off and found cut lines from painting. Sold it to a dealer 10 days later. Cost my 10k but I won’t own a car that’s not right. Waiting for December and I’ll buy new Edit 4 weeks later. I bought a 23 with 1,805 miles. Still has the new car smell…I love it.
Great video! Straight and true. The new corvette is a daily driver and most of all. A trip car! Yes it’s awesome and fun the entire trip! 14 Bose speakers and multiple maps of everything you want keeps you on course! Plus taking a trip in a race car that cruises on 4 cylinders is great! 23.9 mpg average on my last 2 week trip.
New subscriber...Enjoyed your vid. I too have had good luck with used vehicles. Bought a used 911 before their prices went nuts and loving it! Now thinking of a used C8 since the prices are dropping. Or maybe a C6 Z06 as they are very reasonable. We'll see.
I bought my C8 new fully spec’d out. It was my first Corvette and dream car, and every used one I found had compromises that I didn’t want. The ONLY downside is to remember this will be serviced by Chevy, so I was furious to find my car was dirty, scuffed, and just not taken care of when I picked it up from an oil change and warranty repair. I love my C8, but will never buy a chevy again. If you are picky about your cars, and like certain luxuries, definitely check out higher end sports cars.
Always buy new if you are going to KEEP it. Buy used if you are going to short term it. I heard the average age of a c8 buyer is 65! so you have a shot at the car not beeing toasted by the first owner, you gotta ask yoursel, why did they dump it?
Good video. My first C8 i bought used for 101,000 it had 1400 miles it was 2020 i bought in 2022 and only bought used because i did not won't to wait two years for new one 111/2024 i traded on 3lz Z06 that was $$152,000 out the door and i have had this car 9 months and 1410 miles as of today I love the car BUT the 2020 C8 3lt was a better daily, got 26 mpg on hwy and had a softer rider and it also had mag ride. The Z06 is a total different car .Basically it is a track Monster. What I'm getting at? your regular C8 is a great car. You don't need Z06 for a daily
So, far I've only done used cars. Some loaded, some not. My current is a '17 Cadillac CT6 3.0 Platinum and as Ron White would say, "It is llllloooooaaaaadededededaaaaaaa!!" I got it roughly at 35% off the MSRP with low mileage. I've had it for a year now and it still runs clean.
I always bought 1 year old or less used cars because of depreciation... But, with the vette; It had to be new because I wanted my own build. Its more personal and I didn't want someone else's spec'd out car, it had to be mine.
I’m with Gerard on this one, let someone else take the beating on depreciating purchases! Bought my 18 Camero ss gently used 7k at the RIGHT price. While spending as much $$$ on built engine stealth cam fuel system maggie2650 so for $77.000~ I believe I can fly!
I've bought nine cars used and one car new. Honestly, the new car made me nervous for the first year and annoyed every time I noticed a scratch or a ding, didn't seem worth the extra cost.
What's sad is the $9000 difference that might be a headache because you don't know what was done to the car before you... as of today it's 9000 off MSRP at local dealers on fully quit C8 LT3 with the Z package... I'm just saying
Mazda Miata RF...and it only cost $32k and the handling is Tactile Nirvana. Outside of a track, the Corvette's power is useless. But they say, "A fool and his money are soon parted".
They make so many of them that people got rid of them after the first rattle and creeks that are inevitable when you buy a Vette or any other GM product. Got rid of mine after 4 months. Someone got mine at a steal. I’m happy I’m rid of it and I’m happy somebody got a car they love. Win win all around
We are looking at economy cars for our youngest. I would not buy a used Versa or Kia. Nobody takes care of those cars and new ones can still be had for less than $20,000. Wealthier people take care of their high end cars, so those are the better used cars to buy. They usually depreciate more too.
I purchased a used fully loaded 2022 C8 HTC for $74.000. I ran the VIN and the original owner spec it out for $119,000😂The vehicle was still under factory warranty
C8 prices new and used prices have come down, rember seeing used over 100k was the norm for a bit in 21,I'm sure lots of c8 owners are...ahem underwater but are happy
You have to point out the fact of the mileage , there is a cost for each mile you drive , new is better , the cost of a corvette per mile is at least 1 dollar per mile
Just ordered a 2024 1lt non z51 with lile 3 options. Out the door the price is 80,1xx One thing with used is buying a c8 people are gonna usually abuse it and those 20k or so miles will probably be hard miles. Also in vegas right now theres people trying to sell 2022 c8 1lt non z51 for 65-70k with 20k miles and then you still gotta pay taxes ans shit so youre gonna spend 70-75k anyways. To me id rather have extra warranty and oeice of mind it wasnt abused. Also i like the color options i picked out and not so much all the used shit boomers order

More videos on the C8. Like the videos and find them informative on the daily usage of the car and the funny random moments thrown in there lol

In Canada the used market is still stupid expensive. The only real savings is avoiding the luxury tax if you buy used.
Used if it's a one owner car, with a Carfax report and it has to be a California only car. And it must go thru a prepurchase inspection.

From a local Land Rover dealership.
