Marr wrote the songs so ultimately I give him the most credit but Andy’s bass playing is really kinda my favorite part of the band. Like if this group had the other 3 and some average bassist they still would be pretty great but Andy’s bass playing is what really puts them over the top as an all time great band.
That bassline and lead melody fit like a glove, every member of The Smiths played their part and none of them could be replaced. They were an absolute masterclass - what a fuckin band.

The people in the front who are watching with no expressions what so ever probably had no idea how to react to such a fresh and original band. They were probably so used to average 80s acts so seeing The Smiths was like some fucking fever dream for them.

Johnny seems to be be struggling with the tempo throughout. This was a very bass-heavy mix on the Tube - I think it was geared towards the highlight of this performance, which was the preview of Barbarism, which followed.

I wish they'd kept it together and made a few more albums. Morrissey's solo work has been hit and miss. His last couple of albums have been kinda weak. I know it's over, still I cling..
