- Female trucker takes you on a tour of truck stop showers. Although truck stop showers have improved over the years, my major concern is cleanliness. Fortunately that has also improved and some truck stops are overall cleaner than others, in my experiences.

Little America in flagstaff had some of the best about 10 yrs. ago, big fluffy towels too. stagecoach in Boise, id had whirlpool tubs. thanks for the vid, Cindy. Your fan in Alabama
You could go to a Walmart and get a pack of suction cups and some string. Attach string to two suction cups and use that to hold shower curtains back. Might help.

warning I've been driving for 23 years when it comes down to the showers. everybody should bring your own towels. the towels that the truck-stop use. they use the same towels to clean the bathrooms and showers. and there's been a few occasions that I saw the janitors put the towels in the washing machine with no detergent. just wanted to let y'all know bring your own towels. and shower shoes. be safe out there

Hon, with your seat time, you can get local work. No reason that you can't be home with your family daily. Ain't no sense bathing in a truck stop. I love your videos, they are the truth.
dave johnson Thanks. I tried to get a local job back when I first started driving but as you know that is very difficult with little to no experience. It would have been awesome back then when my kids were younger and I prayed every day to land a better job so I could spend more time with them but it matters little to me now. My kids are grown and I'm so used to OTR I don't even want to think about being on s schedule that requires me to get up at 3 am every day, lol. It's too bad things are the way they are, because if I could have landed a local job back when it was so important to me then I probably would've never done anything else.... Oh well. You can't always have everything the way you want it. ✌️😃
Aside from potentially having to do some cleaning before showering, most look better than some apartment and motel bathrooms.
I must agree, I've seen some pretty ratty hotel bathrooms, lol.

Those actually look fairly decent, I saw a local (Canadian) trucker show some nightmare showers across his routes not too long ago so I'm glad to know it's not all bad out there!
They are getting better everywhere I go as they remodel all the old, outdated showers. ....

Thank you so much for sharing this!!! I was wondering what the shower situation was like for truckers as I may be headed to the dark side soon. I'm a big camper and have stayed in many hostels so I would be pretty happy with these showers, thanks for easing my mind! (well at least they look nice on the American side) I'm a Canuck and will likely be on both sides of the border a lot.

Petro in Salina Ks had the best showers i ever saw. had a tv behind the mirror. but that was a few years ago.

The Flatbed Chick NO doubt. The truck parking is huge. But, I am usually through there twice per week. I love the people, but that ice cream is amazing. More truck stops need to model themselves after that particular Little America. Be safe, keep the shiny side up, and GOD BLESS!!! 😊😊😊🚛⛟

Yep, it has its good & it's bad points. For me the showers were very hard to get used to.
Desperate for a shower, my husband and I, who team, visited Donna's Truck Stop in Marysville, Washington....anyone know the place? By comparison, the showers Cindy showed looked like a 5 ⛦ hotels!
Miya Planer I haven't been there, sorry for your misfortune. I tried to find some older truck stops to include some crummy showers but I didn't come across many while I was shooting the videos fro. 😔

Whew, that's a tough one. I used to power walk around the parking lot or occasionally jog but hated the idea that everyone was looking at me so I got a gym membership and it was very hard to not only make time to stop but finding a place that I could pull the rig into was a huge pain and very time consuming. Then I bought a bike and unfortunately I don't have enough places where I stop to ride because of where most truck stops are located, I don't want to get ran over on a busy street and find it frustrating to have to stop at red lights on my bike.... :- (
I have some dumbells and ankle weights on the truck which I used before I joined the gym. I think I'm going to go back to using them and keep riding my bike & will probably cancel my gym membership because it's too hard to use it and I feel like I'm wasting my money.

I'm going to MILLIS TRAINING INSTITUTE in Richfield, Wisconsin. I start CDL school on March 28th, 2016.

+The Flatbed Chick school is 3 1/2 weeks long. Cost for school is $2,340 in which I put down $500 and they finance $1,840 at zero interest. After driving 12 months, MILLIS TRANSFER INC will drop the second part of the loan, which is $2,500 so that's cool :)

How much space do you need to have a shower? As long as they have all the facilities and it's clean and in working order I don't see any reason to complain.

Are most showers in this level in US?
Here in Finland, many showers are almost in same level. Mostly they are located in big gas stations. Some stations have only little shower box inside of "handicap wc". In Couple station I know, you have to go staff locker room and use their shower. (well, its better than nothing! :D )
And you complain about shower curtains? Some places we don't even have them... And it's "big no no" to foreigners, because many of them feel too naked if there's no cover. (even if you are alone) and of course, water splashes every where...
But some have Saunas. And few of them are same level than in small spas. :)
Most of the showers herd are similar to the ones in the video but there are still some at the smaller independent truck stops that are not so great. Wow, I don't think I would like using the staff locker room, lol. That's Interesting, thanks for sharing & thanks for watching. : - )

Cindy, this seems quite manageable! Are these showers open to the general public or for truckers only?
They are available to whomever needs them, travelers or truckers. They range from about $5-$8.00 at a small "mom & pop" stop to around $12- $13.00 at the big name brand stops.

What do you think about Swift transportation for taking up CDL class?
Hello, I really don't know anything about Swift except they don't have a very good track record lately. I read a couple different websites giving statistics about their safety record & one site said 1 in 6 drivers was involved in a crash since 2014, the other site said 1 in 10...... I don't know how accurate those numbers are but you do see a lot of Swift drivers in bad situations, I'm not sure if it's their poor training programs or hiring practices. I know there are good and bad with every company you go to but Swift has me a little concerned.

I've never heard that you are. You could if you wanted to I guess.....

I leave a tip when the room is clean, but right now we're company drivers and our terminal is immaculate, ladies showers are very nice, so usually we can skip the truck stop showers (for now).

I actually have been trying to make time to check out Anytime Fitness. I've noticed that a lot of them are l9aded near a Walmart, are you a member, and if so, how do you like it?
+The Flatbed Chick I've been a member for over two years now. they have better equipment compared to planet fitness. also you buy a key that gives you access to any of their location in the country. downside its like 30 though a month vs $10 at PF but i will recommend it to anyone

There's no time limit that I'm aware of but I've never taken longer than about an hour. The fee varies from stop to stop but the large national chains are usually around $12.00
$12.00 American dollars!!! holy cow that seems pricey... I guess it's some what worth it if they keep the places clean and they're fairly decent like the ones you showed...

You can both use the shower at the same time, they will give you an extra towel also.

Why did you get into OTR truckin'?
Going through a divorce, needed a way to support myself and I figured being OTR I wouldn't have to rent a place to live because I would be gone all the time, so I'm one of those people I sometimes hear other people making fun of, who "live in their truck" lol. I get the last laugh though because it's worked out fine for me.... Also as a new CDL holder I couldn't find a single local company that would hire me, they all wanted 2 years OTR experience Or more......
