    Hi Cindy to adjust those door latches first spray those 2 nuts on the back side down so you don’t scrape your hands. Then loosen them up. Looks like you’ll have to take the one closest to the door and turn it towards the door about 1/2 inch or so then tighten the other one up against it. See if that tightens it up. If it makes it better do it again. You’ll get the hang of it in no time. I guess all flatbedders collect lumber and all sorts of stuff! My boxes were side mounted behind my fuel tanks never could keep them clean, headache rack was the same way! Always kept everything I could carry in case I needed it on another load. I switched to an end dump nowadays don’t have to carry near the stuff with me till winter! Stay safe and keep smiling!

    PB Blaster (DRY Graphite) works great on Ratchet binders and snap binders, keeps binders from rusting and water doesn't wash it off, the only place I've found it was at HOME DEPOT, also works great on bottom of lawnmower decks when stored over the winter, and it keeps grass from sticking to it in the summer, dual uses LOL

    Cindy: A little information on what I use on my car/truck restorations. I try to remove as must rust as possible by hand, sometimes using white vinegar. (Good rust eater) Then after all is dry, I spray rust restorer ( can get at Walmart). It's made by Rustoleum. It makes rust into a hard surface for painting. Then I will coat the surface with paint. (Use ONLY Rustoleum products. I have had very poor results with other products.) Two or thee coats of paint, following instructions on the can will give you excellent results. Someone suggested drilling a hole in the floor. Be sure to drill it in a spot that doesn't get road spray on a wet day, ie: toward the inside of the box. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a roll of foam weatherstrip, self sticking. Remove the existing weatherstripping, clean the surface with a solvent, (alcohol lacquor thinner etc. then apply weather stripping. If you have any trouble with it sticking, go to auto parts store and get a tube of weatherstrip adhesive. I know it sounds labor intensive, but if done right, you'll be proud of the results.
    Sorry to be so wordy. I hope this helps. With love, Jeff

      Hey Jeff, good looking out for Cindy. Have you ever tried POR 15? Its a great coating for painting as long as their is no loose rust or grease it is amazing. Hey Cindy great to see you. If you get your head ache rack polished, there is a clear coating called 'Shark skin' it's really great for polished metals that are exposed to weather.
      Always great to see you. Take care.

    All good info. Ask. If anyone is questioning about securing their load. Ask the shipper or ask another driver in the yard. That's what's great about flat bedding. There's always learning moments!

    G'day, Cindy! Nice job! I really enjoyed the great information you shared (Flatbed 101 - Equipment) talking about what is involved with pulling an open deck trailer. Obviously flatbed freight will differ greatly from reefer or dry van loads.
    Example: Using rust covered chains and binders, dirt covered straps and filthy tarps get you dirty really quick at times (not all the time). Everything is heavy and when you first start flatbebding securing, and tarping loads can seem overwhelming, and exhausting. Love to see more flatbed trucking 101!! Thank you very much!
    Cheers! 😊🚛❤️✌🏼

    Ah, flatbedding/stepdecking... why do we love it so...? Doing it the last 9 years. Temporarily dragging a box with the carrier I'm at while a shipper of theirs gets things straight to add me in and give me the sleeper runs (they're mostly daycabs...). Cindy, you go on with your bad self. I thinks it's great to see a woman do this job. I'd love to cross paths and trade stories one day. Keep up the good work and much success.

    You got a great setup for you headache rack. I can see where you need the two sizes of hooks brackets the seals on the doors are to small I think if you look you can adjust the handles on the doors if not try taking a crescent wrench or visegrips to bend the latch a bit to tighten it up to keep the weather out cause I'm like you I hate fighting the rust cause it gets on everything. Great to see you back so keep up the great videos

      @TheFlatbedChick  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Linseed oil is a good product for most metal. It typically has a drying agent included and it is relatively cheap. Also if time permits go back to the manufacture of the boxes and have them adjust the door locks as it appears you can tighten them ! Maybe add more latches? Mark

    I don't know how much you know about power tools but you could make those holes for your binders and chains by grinding them out with a grinder , just a a little bit would probably help a lot thank you so much for sharing .I completely agree rust sux

  • @scottyhunter4998
    @scottyhunter4998 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love the video it was very informative but you might look into putting some small drain holes in the bottom corners of the box to allow Tian water to run out hopefully allowing the chains to dry and possibly slow down the rusting issue and keeping the box free of extra rust in the bottom. Hope that helps out a little. Be safe beautiful and stay sweet and give Myna a hug from me. Safe travels and hope to see more videos soon.

    Probably the biggest issue with that box getting water in it is where they have the seam located at. First they put the break in the rubber at the top instead of the bottom. Second they didn’t glue that seam together to prevent moisture from entering the gap.
    Other than that, it looks like a well made box.

    Future FYI. Ask Household Movers or Enclosed Auto Haulers if the have old moving blankets. Harbor Freight runs ads for 2" straps. Only downside is their only 27ft long straps instead of 30ft. But they cost 9.99 on sale/coupon. Hope this can help you out or anyone else. Harbor also sales moving blankets as well.

    I run lowboy & haul concrete pipe , Just an '' idea '' that I use when Im not able to get my strap or chain thrown over , I went to a hardware store & got a 26foot long piece of rope. I got one that s like that plastic like & I have a few chain hooks that fit the size of chain im usen one like a 1 foot piece of chain with a shakle or you can tye it onto the rope, have something kinda heavy on the other end so when you through it over load it helps it over.Then hook to you strap/ chain , walk to other side use the rope to pull over you strap/ chain & it save on your shoulder too.

    If you take your straps off trailer and put them out of the weather, when not in use they will last longer, and if you roll them with the hook .on the outside then they are easier to throw and you don't have to worry about knocking out a fellow driver on the other side of the trailer, just a strap doesn't hurt as bad as a hook on the end of the strap does, I know from experience after walking beside a trailer when someone was tying down there load

      I dont have room in my box for those straps, I need more storage

      I kept mine in the passenger side, side box on the truck that way I wouldn't have to walk around the truck every time I needed a strap, my winches were on the drivers side of the trailer, storage on a truck is always limited but your are a good organizer, keep up the great work

    Hi Cindy, I noticed your door seal has the joint at the top which is a straight path for water into the box. It should be at the door base. Door lock can be adjusted to tighten door against the seal. Nice set up otherwise. Love how women think and organize themselves. Wondering do you have a strap winder ? Saves a boat load of time whilst being unloaded. I ask because you have yours wound up on the truck so you are throwing the hook end over your load which is illegal here in Canada. Also up here so much snow in winter the straps get messed up big time if left on the ratchet anchor.

      That was the first thing i tried when i noticed it wasnt fitting tightly, i tightened the latch but it wont get tight enough. I do have a winder but not enough room in my box for more straps. I need a box on my trailer. ty

    Hi Cindy. Check out Ron Prats channel. He is a tow truck driver in MO that has all kinds of chain hanging equipment within the tow truck compartments that might help with keeping your chains and straps in order. Just a thought. Is there a market for collected rust? Grinning! It is amazing what you have to tie down loads and you even know what they are used for and how to tie them down. Outstanding. Need a co-driver that you would have to train how to tie down all that stuff? Just kidding. It is always better to have more than enough than not enough. You are doing great. Have a wonderful day.

    Hey sugar I need headache rack if you want your change the fit all you have to do is get someone with a saws all to cut deeper and water holes like every other hole and then to prevent all that rust in your headache box you go to your nearest Linux dealer and have it sprayed with a Linux line excess of material that will not rust and stronger than anything you could ever imagine and I’ll save your headache box for your under trailer boxes you always have them reinforced before you purchase them or after you purchase them if you’re not sure if something is somebody that’s been in the business longer than you have have a great day they call me beer can
