I've seen a lot of hype for Silverblood Promise recently. The Mercy of Gods is interesting, could be a great spot to try Corey without committing to The Expanse.
I had originally slotted Malice into the first square, but after reading it, I ended up putting into the 5+ POV square. Lots of characters in that one :D Great book. Also, not intending to be the participation police, if you are interested, the rules of the challenge allows for only one reread. Project Hail Mary definitely fits Survival - hard mode.

Great list! So many good choices. I also want to read Malice this year. I'd recommend Divine Rivals if you are looking for suggestions for your wife. It felt like historical romance with fantasy elements to me (and it's fantastic!)
The books going around for the bard prompt are A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross, and Bloody Rose which is the 2nd book in the Kings of the Wyld series by Nicholas Eames. I also think The Bard’s Blade by Brian D Anderson would work.
If I was going to get someone into fantasy who likes romance, I would start with Nora Roberts. She has several genres she writes in so your wife may not have read her fantasy, but has read her contemporary romance books. If your wife wanted to try out her contemporary just to see if she likes the writing, she could try the Inn of Boonesboro trilogy. Her Isle of the Three Sisters trilogy has witches and magic fantasy while The Circle trilogy brings in portal magic and other things. Nora Roberts has been writing for a while and publishes quickly which is good if you get into one of her ongoing series. She tends to write in trilogies though she has a few standalones. For Eldritch Creatures: I read The Ninth Rain by Jenn Williams. It's the first of a trilogy, but is complete. If you don't like bugs, maybe don't get it.
I'll be reading flames of mira for underground. For dreams I've heard the spear cuts through water or the helm.of midnight qualify that interest me. Blood over bright haven migh be one you'd enjoy for dark academia. Not sure of wizard of earthsea would count. Haven't read it but seems pretty classic wizard school? Blade itself should count for multi pov.
Flames of Mira seems really interesting. I've heard that about Spear from a couple of different people now, so I think that'll be a great choice. Blood Over Bright Haven seems excellent as well
Eldritch creatures: I have not read these since I used a horror for this one but i've heard the tainted cup counts, herald by rob j hayes, along the razor's edge from him as well. I'm also reading cage of souls by adrian tchaikovsky atm and it would also count and am really enjoying it.
If you find smth else for multi pov, Glokta would def qualify for the disability square. Thr poor guy💀. Godkiller, ascendant, black sun, gallant, kings of paradise, etc. It doesn't have to be a physical disability either but they're easier to realise haha Bards: hm would work for the first binding i've heard. I'm reading dark water daughter for normal mode.
Recommend to your wife The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston - it’ll dip her toes into a speculative romance, while being less extreme than ACOTAR. Bonus: it’s an AMAZING book! I’ve seen it on SO MANY best of 2023 lists, and it is my top book of the year so far. Maybe this will help her dip her toes in a little more gently? 🤷🏻♀️

The Luminous Dead seems really interesting! Normally I shy away from horror but I would be excited to try this one. My daughter is not a fantasy reading like your wife. I had her read Shadow & Bones by Leigh Barudugo and she loves it. It's world building isn't overwhelming and the magic is easy to understand also has a romance. If you haven't read it I suggest you read it so you can help with the first couple of chapter but once you get over the first couple chapter and getting all the information that the beginning chapter thought at you. She be good. May cover your Eldritch Creature sqaure.
For 2024- I am super excited for The Failures by Benjamin Liar (out in July). Or one that just came out is The Silverblood Promise by James Logan. I believe these are both debuts and would work for hard mode. For disability- Ascendant by Michael Miller has a blind dragon that I believe would be considered a main character for hard mode

It's for younger readers but, the Pellinor series by Alison Croggon features bards and actually uses the word, so it hits hard mode.
