As someone who took a year off from teaching during the height of the pandemic, it’s refreshing to see another educator who took time off & came back just as passionate

As someone whose about to graduate and be a first year special ed teacher thank you for your words of advice! I often get caught up in the videos on social media and it’s so hard to not feel discouraged or anxious. It’s nice to hear positive words about teaching from an amazing educator like you!😊

Thank you for this video! I LOVE my teaching job, but YES it's stressful the whole day. And sometimes it's not a bad stress. It's just being "on" the whole day...Love what you write in your journal: "You did it. You got up." FInd what you love and do more of it:) Really loved this video. Thank you!

I have thyroid problems, and autoimmune problems in general and going gluten free literally changed the game for me. I had a inflammation blood test and other things came up too like soy and corn, and eliminating them helped so much! Do what works best for you!!

Love your energy! On the days I get a moment to myself, I am reminded about they ways the internet allows us to connect so easily with people so far away. I've been meaning to check in -hopefully I have the capacity soon!

I just got diagnosed with hypothyroidism and PCOS but I really want to be a teacher. I’m worried about the stress being to much on my body. I don’t know what to do

Brittany, I appreciate your positivity and how passionate you are. But, girl, are we teaching in the same country ?! Because how?! This is my 5th year teaching and I am sooo burnt out. I do not feel I teach. I was just like you when I started and I truly love teaching, but the kids do not want to learn. Their apathy, the daily disregard, disrespect, tardiness , fights, social media drama, lack of participation, lack of motivation, on top of stealing , destroying, breaking, etc . How do you stay positive ? I love teaching and had a similar mind when I first started. I viewed teaching as a magical thing and believed if I build rapport with my students, things will be okay. I know things will not be perfect. But not all students want to be build rapport with you. I am myself, silly and playful and get judged by some students. I build rapport with many of my students and try to be understanding, just to have them take advantage of me, view me as a friend and want to skip class just to hang out in my classroom and try to talk smack about other teachers. Of course, I can't accept this. It got to the point that I even got in trouble with other teachers because I was trying to help my students , but the kids like to create drama with everybody. I created a calm corner , bought fidgets, created an "affirmation station" but my students didn't want to say the affirmations. They have no interest whatsoever. Some even stole and broke my fidgets. This has happened every year since I started because just like you, I want to be positive and view teaching as magical. But girlie, it is so hard when students are vulgar. It is challenging when the kids refuse to do the work. It is difficult when they do not participate , but when it comes to their little fights and who they "gonna drag " they are perfectly fine communicating. I am not teaching at this point. I feel I am not. I am burnt out. I accepted a new position and hope things will be better. I hate this person I've become because I'm so happy and playful , but how?! How can I with these kids ? I feel I'm like a candle and these kids wash my light away. 😢
