    Those flat antennas, you can buy them a lot cheaper through Groupon and also on Wal-Mart.com and Home depot or Lowe's. I am in a bad area and this little flat antenna will pull in. 10 to 18 channels. If you are closer to towers, you will get more channels. You can buy boosters to put on it and some antennas come with it.

    I’ve been doing my research and trials. Hulu and PS Vue is great. The price are also good, however, we must also include the price of internet because without internet, we cannot use internet tv. Comcast/Xfinity is the best internet but... it co$t and the co$t keeps going up. AT&T is good but their new fiber internet is by far the very best but not available in all areas. As of now, my PS Vue is $74 and AT&T internet is $65. So I pay a total of $139 per month.
    Very good video Maggie!

    Very nice. I appreciate the info . One thing though, you may not realize how Chromecast works. You phone streams nothing , it only acts as a controller. Your battery should not be draining. If fact once starting a cast, you could leave, or even turn off the phone. It has no affect on casting. I actually prefer it to rocu or Amazon stick where you're limited to what apps they allow. My Android has almost no limitations, including 3rd party apps I can stream channels from around the world. In fact I've had a lot of fun exploring the endless options of apps from play store and 3rd party. We actually have more options then we had with cable. 2 things I would add: TH-cam TV $35 a month and the free and awesome Pluto TV

    Sorry for 2 comments but my cable just went from $170 up to $220 and I don't have any premium channels like HBO or Showtime.... no Disney or sports .... $60 for internet and $60 Hulu live would still cut my cost by half and sounds like I'd get more.

    • @obridget01
      @obridget01 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Because internet is a given when you have to do streaming. They are talking about the price of cable alone. You come out cheaper in most cases with getting netflix and hulu. I dont have to pay for netflix but I have hulu. Even with Spectrum Streaming app, I come out cheaper with hulu and get all that I want now that they are adding more. Then with TH-cam, I get even more and don't pay for premium. So, with internet and phone with hulu, I still come out much cheaper than I did with the streaming app through cable.

      @@OTCRock4one Hulu has live tv but I am not quite sure if it is worth it. Not to me anyway. Look into Playstation Vue & Sling. Hulu, you can watch many shows the next day. You just have to figure out what you like & if hulu has those shows on there and if it is worth it. Naturally, there are some stations that dont allow it on there....example: I like some CBS shows, they aren't on hulu. Netflix, you get the seasons at the end of each season, usually closer to the next season. I personally don't care about most shows. I watch a lot of regular channels with the exception of maybe HGTV, Lifetime & shows that come on at night on Hallmark (Golden Girls, etc..but that is now on there with other shows I've been wanting to keep up with)

    Lots of choices out there, but all I need is a cell phone and internet. Bundling is huge waste of money. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc? Don't need it or want it. I looked for 20 minutes for a movie to watch on Netflix and couldn't find anything. My cost is $70 for high-speed internet and $100 for 2 lines and 8 gigs of data...plenty if you use wifi. I use my friend's logon and watch TV on my tablet using the free app. Took me way to long to cut the cable cord because I'm old like almost all other cable users and didn't know I could even watch TV on a tablet. Probably doesn't bode well for the cable TV business though. Land lines are all but obsolete now.

      It is all unique to your area, but I just checked my zip code on this website www.antennaweb.org) to see how accurate it was using the knowledge of what channels I had, and it was pretty accurate. Hopefully this could let you know what channels will be available. Typically they won't include the specialty channels like Bravo, Animal Planet, etc., but there are a number of services (like Hulu) that do carry some of the shows on those channels. Google "best TV streaming service" will get you numerous articles, and many will have a chart that compares pricing and available channels for each of the more popular TV streaming services. Some have many packages that are stepped up in price and channels just like cable/satellite. And some have just one or two packages to make your choice simpler. Then you will need a way to receive the signal from whichever streaming service you decide on, one for each of your TVs. That's where a streaming device comes in. There are many available so again use Google for "best streaming device" to read up on them. In my research when I recently ditched Dish Network, for a number of reasons TH-cam TV (service) and Roku streaming sticks (device) were my choices, but your choices could be different depending on what channel(s) you absolutely can't live without.

Roku has several devices at difference price levels. The streaming sticks/devices turn your tv into smart t.v.'s. Even if you have an older model t.v., Roku has one that allows you to use a device on there to with the red, yellow & white input cords (like what you may use for the dvd players). :o)

    $45 for 6 months and $55 per month after. It was less than $10 cause we bought NETGEAR modem+router at bestbuy its only one time fee of $130 that will last for years and dont need to rent a modem+router through the internet provider that cost $10 a month.
    And our data+unlimited call n text are all under Cricket $80 per month but because its two line it gives us $5 discount and another $5 off cause of autopay online so we were only paying $70 per month.. But eventually for sure will be buying antennas :)

      @@MaggiesTwoCents Also look into film rise if you havent heard of that one. Crackle also have their own shows. Not current like Hulu or Netflix but works wonders. Even with TH-cam now, some movies THEY download and allow you to watch free with commercials. You have to search through apps to find the good ones. I have the Fire Stick but I prefer the roku because it's easier to navigate but I gave mine to someone else (regret that one lol) and have to replace it.

    Folks...as an alternative...teach yourself about IPTV...Google IPTV Services. I pay $5/month for every live TV network in the USA and Canada (ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, CBC, CTV, CHCH), plus EVERY live sports network, movies on demand and many other speciality channels....all included in the $5/month. IPTV works with your existing Internet service...and free to install.

      That's pretty much it for me. During the short time I had cable through the summer, I would still watch some shows on Hulu. The only thing they didn't have were some shows on OWN I like a lot. When they put the previous seasons of those shows on Hulu, I cut the cord immediately. They aren't the current seasons and that's okay, I still have them! :o)

    You have to be a genius to find your way through this maze...and I ain't!

    • @obridget01
      @obridget01 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's why so many are explaining it and giving ideas for what to do so you can make a decision of what is best for you out of all of this stuff. Narrow it down to the top 5 if you can and go from there...If not, at least the top 10 then take those down to the top 5. There are also free apps like crackle, roku tv, film rise, etc. Roku TV & Film Rise is not on everything but Crackle is on a lot of devices. They dont have the most recent movies and shows but they have some good ones. Hopefully you have found your way through the maze though. It can take some time but it can be done. :o)

      Well, you have Crackle, Pluto TV, Film Rise, Roku TV (previous two aren't on everything but definitely, if you have a roku box/stick, they are on those). You have a ton of FREE things you can use (PBS & PBS kids are two more..at least the last time I checked). Antenna, you don' t have to spend a ton on. You may not have the updated movies and shows on the first apps I mentioned and have to tend with commercials but they're there and really good. :o)
