Well done guys. Ive worked outside all my working life and I always find Jan and Feb the hardest but on a sunny morning it makes you feel alive. Keep up the good work.
I used to ride around with my bucket and ladder on a push bike in the winter thankfully I’ve now passed my test and got a nice warm car .. keep up the good work
I agree Ashley. I noticed a lot of windows with the curtains or blinds still shut ended up restricting the heat from escaping/reaching the glass so those were almost as bad as conservatory windows freezing up.
I live in Bergen norway and it gets pretty cold here.. -15c some days... The rest of the time it usually rains, 260 days a year on average hahaha im out working all the time or id never get anything done. I use windshield fluid that goes down to -15 mixed with a little soap and 2/3 water.. never have an issue.. Keep up the videos.
I had this problem 2 wks ago On a bungalow windows kept freezing over what a pain in the arse it really was . Now I know Lesson learned I will just wait another day . Window cleaning can be a headache at the best of times but working in freezing cold weather can be a absolute nightmare. Especially in the UK in Peterborough , I'll be glad when summer comes the sooner the better.
keeping it real This winter hasn’t been too bad, there hasn’t been too many days like this. It gets really tough when you have these conditions for weeks at a time. Window cleaners make up for it in summer though.😃👍🏼
I’m off to Aussie next week to break the back of the winter. The windows will still be there when I get back. I’ll be thinking of you guys when I’m sunning myself in 40 degrees
@@aemackintosh Yeah just gotta push through that pain barrier first thing! Just wondered, do you have any thoughts on a warm water system for wfp? Might make things a lot easier this time of year 😁
The company I work for we use Methanol(almost pure alcohol) in our water. We have a 55 gallon drum of it but we try to use it sparingly cause it's not cheap and we don't have much work during the winter in Michigan.
I know how you guys feel, I was out in - 7 yesterday, didn't get above 0 all day, you just gotta take more precautions like bringing in equipment at night and covering your van, but as you said we got to do it, got to get paid 😁
Methanol can be purchased by the drum or go to a race shop and buy 20 liters (just over 5 gallons) at a time. It's usually about $1 per liter and one liter will last for about 4 to 5 buckets worth in sub zero temps. It's cheap and works great.
Isopropyl alcohol in your solution should help. Buy it at the pharmacy. I DON’T put it in my bucket. It goes in my solution bottle mixed about one to five. Anti freeze sucks. You can WFP with a backpack if you throw some alcohol in there. Dries spot free and cleans better.
when using a squeegee in frozen conditions, u should def use "car windscreen wash fluid", its not antifreeze but some kind of alcohol fluid, (but don't drink it lol) mix 50-50 with water, then soapy water will not freeze on the house windows, ive used it for 20 yrs or more, I prob only use a 5ltrbottle per yr, costs 2.50p from cheap shops,---at least then u can work and earn dosh.
Well done you two , 👍 I’ll be going to work in about 30 mins ( 12ish ). It’s not the cold that’s the problem it’s Waiting for the ice to disappear.you can never be too careful
A.E.Mackintosh Cleaning Services think you meant to say screen wash Ash, never ever use antifreeze it will damage the frames.were you not tempted to use your Moerman on your pole instead of ladder work ?
Been dipping my toes back into window cleaning here in Canada. My friend is a full time WC and he broke his leg recently so he asked me to do a job or two for him. First morning was during the week - Inside and outside of a local steakhouse. Temperature was -10 celsius - Even with 5 litres of antifreeze windscreen washer in with my water it was turning into a white paste on teh outside glass screens. I could only do a few until I got fed up and wiped the worst ones down with a cloth. Insides were fine but man!! -10 is no joke LOL Note: Was supposed to do it 2 days before that and the temp was -15 !!
Dreamchasing If you are careful and you have a nice fresh blade you are ok, but you don’t want to put more water on the glass if it’s going to freeze.🥶👍🏼
Lukasz Kaminiecki Got a full week next week as well, so this is going to have a knock on effect. It’s been a pretty good winter though really, not many set backs at all for us.😃👍🏼
You’re soldiers. Inspired me not to hibernate on these cold days! I’ve been starting slightly later too... best to let everyone turn on their heating and for the earth to heat up a bit. I really need to get waterproof boots. The old ones are starting to let a little water in.
Been there, done that. Had no choice but go the antifreeze route and never could start before 9 in the winter. That hour makes a big difference when the temps are 25 to 30 C. Like you in essence said "Separates the real men from the boys".
Brian Rossini Yeah, that’s what I meant when I said anti-freeze in the video. I don’t tend to bother with it because we don’t often get temperatures that cold.😃👍🏼
