I absolutely adore how each boss is animated with huge props to the Bishop's Dance and just everything about the Rook. Plus the single boss music is just fantastic
That dance of Bishop was very similar to a dance called Bourree which an 18th century French dance and kind a similar to a dance Gavotte. And he is not a French he is a Catholic Spanish Bishop however and i think he learn that from their French Queen
I like how their patterns reference their chess equivalents: - the pawns rush you with numbers - the knight sometimes goes straight, sometimes slashes up - the bishop only moves diagonally across the screen - the rook fight goes in a straight line - the queen involves both straight side to side and diagonal attacks. The cannons can also move in multiple directions
Bonus: You have to parry 8 times to defeat the Pawns, just like how there are 8 Pawns for a player. The Bishop also has 4 heads, referencing that it moves in 4 directions (diagonally) in chess
I just now realized that you have to stay very close to the horse (knight), so he can play his attacks. No wonder my fight took so long, even when he obviously was signaling for you to approach.

Speaking of the queen. Something crazy happened to me when I was playing her. So, I was getting close to beating her, but I parried a cannon and got hit by one of her eggs. BUT! I hit her with the cannon ball, and while I was on the death screen, the screen started to fade and it took me to the king saying that I beat her! How crazy is that? 😂
I like how the pawns always attack one by one and diagonally unless they are next to the wall and the music is fine as hell. Also, the rook looks cool.

It's funny how the Knight is the only one who isn't linked to decapitation at any point. To defeat the Pawns, you need to parry their heads off. The Rook is pretty obvious in this aspect. While the Bishop and the Queen both have disembodied heads.
Im pretty sure why the knight is running crazy is because it's gonna happen later as the screen fades into black so I believe the knight also got decapitated in a more brutal way than any piece🤓🤓🤓
And he hold his anger to the cups unlik other bosses they always have frustration when they lost in game him he just controlling his temper by grinding more. And some fans considering him as scary but he is actually a sweet heart so yes he is rough and tough and scary but his heart was never made of stone
I love all this fights, no matter how many times i died, i went back for more. Every mini boss has someting that engage me: the Pawn's gigle before jump, the Knight's intro and attacks, the Bishop's dance and the mecanics, the Rock's intro and movements, and the Queens intro and laught. And the music it's pure gold

The King said exactly "In these bouts, your weapons and charms shan't be of use." Kind of weird that Ms. Chalice can be used for this given that you can play her from a "charm" itself (Astral Cookie to be exact). I'm gonna guess the Astral Cookie is the only exception.
I think it has something to do with the fact that it acts differently from the other charms. The Astral Cookie replaces either Cuphead or Mugman with Ms. Chalice instead of giving the boys an add on it just gives you an entirely new character which is unique. Plus the entire DLC is made with Ms. Chalice in mind, the third phase of the Glumstone fight is made easier with her double jump, the second phase of Mortimer is made easier with her invincible roll or the smoke dash, it seems like so many bosses are just built around the premise of you playing as Ms. Chalice.
Honestly, parrying didn't feel that good most of the time, it was used well in run n gun stages but in boss fights it was just "hit pink thing", im happy these bosses actually use the parry mechanic more
Yeah, I hear you. It's a little embarrassing how many times I died to the pawns because I had to relearn how to parry with Chalice. (doesn't help I originally beat Cuphead with a controller that doesn't work too well anymore, so I have to learn how to use the keys on top of that...)
No kidding. I feel like he was so much harder. I feel like there must be some strategy I’m missing, but that boss just took really long. The last 2 were so much easier. After I beat the knight I just finished them all one by one. The bishop I had some trouble with, but the Queen I beat second try, and the rook wasn’t too hard either.
The knight is the easiest you just have to take time to figure out his animations for each attack, there’s only three of them after all. And yea he has an annoying amount of health but all his attacks leave enough time for at least 2 parries

Guys ! For the paladin achievement you have to kill any 5 to 10 bosses with the cursed relic equipped at least on regular, please note the King Dice bosses each count as one full boss ! easier that way! Have fun all!

Doing these co op is an actual nightmare, having two players really doesn’t help and it gives some massive health boosts. The pawns take twice as many hits, the Knight gets more health, the Rook has way more health, etc.

Cuz they want to challenge them which is the strongest! Which concluded they are wanted to make them simulate their skills! They sure do wanna make them Stronger!
We need a mod with the king, since he only moves in a square and he is the leader of some sort he should have the pawns carrying him as an attack pattern. Also, he is another attack pattern he should have is throwing his crown. Who knows maybe he will have a staff attack where he just jabs it at you.

by far the most annoying was the knight, you hardly get any chance to attack him and If you're off by even a second you will take damage, it's always hard to tell what he's gonna do next, it takes forever to defeat him, and if you actually put yourself in a safe distance, he'll charge at you with absolutely no room to escape. The queen was fun, I just didn't like the chattering teeth

I think the heart ring is SO helpful! Really makes it easier to fight a boss when you have more hearts! It also makes parrying _way_ more useful.

Damage is halved in coop. So you do 5 DMG instead of 10 DMG

Imagine if the King turned on you because you killed the queen (because they are husband and wife) and you had to fight the king himself, using the power of the pawns, the Knight, the Bishop, the rook, and the Queen. That would be a hard boss fight

Cuz they want to challenge them which is the strongest! Which concluded they are wanted to make them simulate their skills! They sure do wanna make them Stronger!
We need a mod with the king, since he only moves in a square and he is the leader of some sort he should have the pawns carrying him as an attack pattern. Also, he is another attack pattern he should have is throwing his crown. Who knows maybe he will have a staff attack where he just jabs it at you.

fun fact, for each bosses you can actually see their chess piece as a banner or sorts with the queen having hers a bit hidden in the background
by far the most annoying was the knight, you hardly get any chance to attack him and If you're off by even a second you will take damage, it's always hard to tell what he's gonna do next, it takes forever to defeat him, and if you actually put yourself in a safe distance, he'll charge at you with absolutely no room to escape. The queen was fun, I just didn't like the chattering teeth
The Rook was by far the hardest one for me. The knight wasn't too hard, just took a lot of hits
