Thank you so much for this video. I have recently bought a 40L Morphy Richards. And couldn’t figure out why my cakes were burning from the top and bottom and still uncooked in between. I realise now that I was baking on the convection mode instead of bake😊 Here’s hoping my next cake would be better.
l have been baking cakes and cookies since 1973 . Very fine cakes indeed. Today l saw your precautions and explanations while baking in an OTG. cleared some of my doubts about baking in an OTG and also in micro wave. Very useful and informative THANQ .Suma Sivadas
I am so glad I found your channel - your basic lessons for baking are very very helpful and very clear. Keep it up! Thank you for coming up with these videos.
Thank you very muchfor sharing . I had been using convection microwave and Raccold round oven for cakes for many years till i bought my OTG last year but was apprehensive to use it . To tell u the truth I used it only twice 😄...but ur video has given me confidence. Would request you to share some secondary uses of OTG for cooking as well.
hi there! My cousin gave me an otg as a wedding gift. I'm glad I watched this video today and found it very helpful and informative. Thanks for sharing!☺😄
Great and really helpful informative video Ma'am....👍👌 I have been struggling with my Convection OTG as whenever I use to keep oven on convection mode and bake cake use to burn patch on top and side too. Specially chocolate base use to become very dry. Thn once I tried to reduce temperature to 150 to 160 degree normal vanilla cake came out fine but chocolate cake still becomes bit dry. I never face this issue in my normal basic OTD which dnt have fan in it. Sometimes I feel it is best for prefect baking cake. But as u told we have to keep experimenting with our oven... So just exactly doing same now a days....😊
Hello Ma'am being a beginner, felt like my otg is not reaching set temperature, so should I buy an oven thermometer. but little confused since even the thermometer could also be improperly calibrated or faulty at times... so basically what to do??
Thank you for this tutorial. It's so easy to understand even for a newbie like me. Absolutely marvellous and you've brought me to a whole new world with my oven. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for this video. You are really graceful Mam. I am new to otg. Could you please tell me which rack and which mode should I use to bake Lasagna in otg as such information isn't provided in the recipe
great video..just loved it....i have a very basic bajaj otg..which doesnt have the fuction knob..just the temp and timer...can i still use it the same way?
THANK you so much mam, for your video... I've have learned a lot from this video.... I had a doubt?.. what about the 52 ltrs otg rcss which comes with bottom element with convection fan option, which is not there in you 40rcss model....
Nice video. Should the crumb tray go above or below the lower heating element? It is possible for the tray to be placed below in my oven, but won't stuff drip on to the lower element in that case.

I have a Morphy Richards 52 rcss. Which mode and rack should I opt for to make the pizza? Today i tried in baking mode with the highest temperature setting, kept on top rack and some part of the pizza was only cooked the other part was undercooked
I bought a new OTG which don't have fan the convection mode...is it important for OTG wid fan???or it's nothing different it's all same whether its wid fan mode or not...
Thanks for this video. Recently I bought a new electric oven which has separate temperature knobs for top and bottom heating.please tell me which one should I on while baking a cake and both with same temperature? My second question is there is also a convection knob with fan symbol so should I turn on while baking cakes, breads etc?
while baking cake in the oven do we have to keep upper and lower heating ON? or can you please give more info on setting oven configuration? that would be helpful, thanks.
Living in New Zealand I never came across microwave ovens together. We always use both separately microwave and oven. Both the appliances are different. Can you please suggest if I can buy Solo OTG and Solo Microwave in India?
Hi madam.. Your explanation is really really good. I would recommend this video to all who have been waiting for the best explanation on an OTG oven.. Thank you so much.. The view inside the oven that you have given, gives me a feeling as though I am peeing through the oven myself. Applaudable job! I have a doubt , a sooner reply would be much appreciated. I need to know the difference between Morphy Richards RC-SS 40L and Besta Black 40L. I also want to know if the heating coils are visible in Besta Black as well. Thanks in advance.
thank u mam.. i have doubt...my otg doesn't have a pause option.. just in case if i want to check when baking.. can i open my otg door even when it is baking
jayanthimanual k It is OK to open the door and check towards the end of the baking time given in the recipe. For example, if your recipe says bake for 30-35 minutes, you can open the door at 30 minutes. Do not open the door especially for cakes in the first 20 minutes of baking as the cake will collapse.
hi mam...mere otg me high, low , medium way me temperature setting dea h ...so I hv no idea at which temperature cake , biscuits etc are baked...plz tell me about this
hello mam ur video, voice, and pronunciations is awesome .....actually recently I bought a morphy rechards oven specially for making pizza but I don't know how to use while making cheez corn pizza specially the temperature nd time will u plz help me
Thank you Sameera! You can use this recipe here. Try baking the pizza at the max temperature in your oven with just the bottom heating element on. Place the baking tray in the middle rack. Quick And Easy No Knead Pizza bit.ly/2lIB4fs
Hi Suma, You have explained your video on how to use an otg really well. I have a question. Whenever I bake something in a MW convection, my bun becomes hard. Can I use conv+otg? Also, the flavour and odour of the yeast is overpowering. I use Baker's yeast. How do I handle this?
Hii mam, could you pls tell me that can i put 2 cake tin in this otg to bake and if not should i preheat oven again for baking 2nd cake batter. Pls pls do rep
Nahid Zaib Tariq .... in convection mode the top and bottom element with fan comes on... in toast mode again both the top n bottom elements come on minus the fan rotation... for grilling only the top element comes on and for baking only the bottom element... n rottersserie just the top element heats up with rotation on the skewer to grill items like whole chicken ... this is what exactly Ms. Suma Rowjee mentioned in the video...
I am planning to buy an oven soon for my daughter. She loves to bake. Please could you suggest a good brand. Thanks. Your video was helping. Thanks again.
1. Is it normal for the glass door to get very hot? 2. What's the difference between grilling and toasting? 3. How do you get your old oven recalibrated? Thanks in advance!
hello Madam, these days besta version is also available. I will be really thankful if u can suggest if Besta is better than RCas range. I am a vegetarian and need otg for cake and pizza
hi cakes and more ! just want to ask. i tried to bake brownies. i use wax paper then i put some small amount of butter. but the brownies sticked so hard in wax paper. i follow the proper temp. what would be the reason behind it? please help me. thanks !
can u plzz say me briefly how to use d convection mode i wnna ask for preheating shuld i turn d switch to the d desired tempretre and thn switch the timer to 20 min aftr preheating d oven shuld i place my cake n keep the tempreature switch as it is and change the tym is tht what i have 2 do
You can put the oven on convection mode, set the temperature and timer for about 20 minutes. Once the oven is heated, you can place the cake tin inside and set the timer as needed. No need to change the temperature again. You can get an oven thermometer to cross check if the oven is heating properly, adjust the temperature if needed.
Hi. Your videos are really helpful. However , I have some questions about when to use which mode. For example I use toast/ convection mode I. e. Both elements on. which mode should be used to bake pizza? Many a times the recipes do not tell which rack should be used and the mode.. I have Morphy Richards 52 ltrs.
Hi Madam, Could you please tell me which position is best for cupcakes? Shall I keep the tray at the center or top or bottom? I am staying here iin Muscat and bought one ikon OTG and now start baking stuffs but need more learning that's why I asked. Much appreciated.
I own 40 besta black. I have been baking cakes, buns and bread etc on the last bottom slot. Is it ok. And I presume the cookie tray provided heavy and needs to be avoided for baking on it. Could u please advise. Thanks
Sorry Surendran late reply. I prefer the one next to the last bottom one as cakes and cookies tend to burn on the bottom most groove. I prefer using aluminum for baking. Hope this helps!
@Saima Aijaznormaly i have baked only cake in an 8in cake tin, but if i have to make a layer cake how should i do that. I have to let the oven cool and preheat again for another cake batter??
Thanks k you for this video. I've baked with a traditional oven all of my life and since I moved to china for work my wife bought an OTG. I now know what the selection knob is and what is what. Thank you again.
and before i put the brownie mixture, i put butter again on top of the wax paper. what is the best way to prevent the hard bottom of the brownies? thanks again ! 😊
I have ikon otg oven in manual not much is given about baking I want to know the fan option in oven when should we keep on like breads cakes or pizza is it necessary to keep that button on while doing any such or we can keep off as sometimes I bake bread it is not cooked properly nor from top good colour comes if u can help me thanks
It is not absolutely necessary to use the convection/fan option for baking. Most OTGs heat more than what is indicated on the knob, so that is a common reason for cakes looking cooked outside but uncooked inside. Please get an oven thermometer so that you can check and set the temperature correctly.
Hello mam Bought morphy richards 28lts otg recently. When i baked a cake for 20 mins only the top middle portion isnt baked, the bottom and the round was baked perfectly.Should i keep it for some more mins for the middle portion to bake or the other portion which is baked perfectly will damage? Pls reply
Hello mam, your videos are really very informative. Recently i have purchased morphy richards otg 52 litres. But m pretty confused how to use it. I don't know on which function i have to bake cakes cookies, breads etc? I have both bake mode with n without fan option. Which one is the best to bake these things? N plz mention where do i have to position the wire rack n baking tray for baking the cake, cookies, cupcakes, muffins, breads etc. Thanks in anticipation
Sorry, late reply Divya. You can try bake(only bottom element on) first. Place the rack in the second level from the bottom and try. You will need to experiment and find out what works best for you in your oven. Do let me know how it goes.
Thanks for the helpful video! It was definitely good for a beginner like me. However, my Bajaj TMSS2800 OTG is absolutely frustrating as far as the temperature control is concerned. I set its temperature to 200 degrees. After some time, my oven thermometer shows 250 degrees and the temperature goes on rising. I turn back my temperature knob to 175 degrees and the temperature reduces. I have to keep playing with the temperature knob all the time and keep an eye on the goods being baked. I called the Bajaj engineer and he had never heard of "calibration of ovens" before. I am wondering if I should sell off the oven on OLX.in. It is still in warranty. I might get some value for it.
Kamakshi, that's how it is with most OTGs, we need to grin and bear, you will figure it out eventually. Took me forever to get used to my Morphy Richards 40L oven. Good luck!
@@SumaRowjee-cakesandmore that is sad. We used to have a National electric oven, whose temperature setting and timer used to be perfect. Unfortunately, we don't get this oven in India. For now, I will grin and bear it like you suggest (sigh)
Hi I tried baking cookies, cake and even danish as per recipe mentioned temperature but bottom always burns and top looks undercooked. I use middle rack with bake option in otg. Please guide what I'm doing it wrong.
Nitika, your OTG may be heating too much. If you have set the temperature as 180 C, the actual temperature inside the oven may be much higher. Please use an oven thermometer, it should help set the temperature correctly.
Again bottoms burnt, something is still wrong with what I m doing. I brought thermometer, I placed it during preheating, set temperature but thermometer temperature keeps on rising with time and I reduced the oven temp and kept my cake inside oven. How long I should put Thermometer in oven ? So it show correct temperature. What is right process ?
Thank so much for the vedio am using the same otg. cakes texture comes out really well but my cookies always uncooked in side I don't know the reason can u pls help me out how to bake some cookies in my Otg

Sorry Surendran late reply. I prefer the one next to the last bottom one as cakes and cookies tend to burn on the bottom most groove. I prefer using aluminum for baking. Hope this helps!
Tnx. I understood the baking procedures for MR otg.
Hii mam, can you plss tell me that after baking one cake i can again bake another batter or not. Will the temperature rise or it will remain same
@Saima Aijaznormaly i have baked only cake in an 8in cake tin, but if i have to make a layer cake how should i do that. I have to let the oven cool and preheat again for another cake batter??
hello ma'm! Could you please share about which rack is to be used for cookies?
You can try using the lowest rack or the one next to it, whichever works better for you Shraavani
+Cakes And More thanks a lot😊
Thanks k you for this video. I've baked with a traditional oven all of my life and since I moved to china for work my wife bought an OTG. I now know what the selection knob is and what is what. Thank you again.
I hope you will do lots of baking in the new OTG as well, good luck!
I'm planning to buy this type of oven. Very helpful. Thanks.
Does some smoke come out from the OTG while Cooking anything while the inside fan is on??
I haven't experienced it Ashish, please get the oven checked.
and before i put the brownie mixture, i put butter again on top of the wax paper. what is the best way to prevent the hard bottom of the brownies? thanks again ! 😊
Sorry missed this! May be the brownies are just overbaked? Try baking for lesser time
Thank you.. What is the best position and settings for baking a pizza?
I've been gifted Wonderchef 9 litre OTG. It does not have a dedicated mode fuction knob, only temparature and timer. How to use it for grilling?
For baking cake
Which one to use otg or microwave
I have ikon otg oven in manual not much is given about baking I want to know the fan option in oven when should we keep on like breads cakes or pizza is it necessary to keep that button on while doing any such or we can keep off as sometimes I bake bread it is not cooked properly nor from top good colour comes if u can help me thanks
It is not absolutely necessary to use the convection/fan option for baking. Most OTGs heat more than what is indicated on the knob, so that is a common reason for cakes looking cooked outside but uncooked inside. Please get an oven thermometer so that you can check and set the temperature correctly.
shall we use skewers stick made of wood in OTG for grilling?
Very good explanation 👍
Hello mam
Bought morphy richards 28lts otg recently.
Hi mam,
Tanq for video its so helpful to me.
I have one doubt - is we can use silicone moulds in OTG?
I mean silicone cupcake mould
Thank you Aditya, yes you can use.
Very good introduction for beginners.
Kedar Thakur Thank you!
Very nice tutorial or oven introduction
Hi I tried baking cookies, cake and even danish as per recipe mentioned temperature but bottom always burns and top looks undercooked. I use middle rack with bake option in otg. Please guide what I'm doing it wrong.
Nitika, your OTG may be heating too much. If you have set the temperature as 180 C, the actual temperature inside the oven may be much higher. Please use an oven thermometer, it should help set the temperature correctly.
M' I using right mode ( only bottom element on)?
Bottom element on is fine.
Bottom element on is fine.
Which mode is best for baking cake?
